Silk soft shoes stepped across the plush dark-red carpet of the corridor. Finely wrought brass wall lamps lined the passage one after another, while on the wall to the right, all kinds of precious artworks were set into gilded frames.

If Linden had been here, he would have muttered something about "damned nobles" no matter what. But to Inanna, all of this was simply the home she knew so well.

She made her way from the bedroom on the third floor to the study on the second.

Her teacher, Julian Daniels, had been invited by her father from the Relic Association. According to the butler, the payment her teacher had requested was permission to read through the family's collection of books in between lessons.

In truth, ever since her teacher had come to the manor, he had practically moved into the study.

Even when teaching her magic, aside from practical lessons that required practice on the training grounds, she came to the study for class at all other times.

Today, however, it seemed someone had arrived before her. Voices drifted from inside the study.

Of course, Inanna would never do something so unbecoming as hide outside the door and eavesdrop.

She gently pushed open one side of the door.

"Teacher, you have no idea. Back then, they shoved something that thick into my mouth and pumped air in, blowing me awake by force..."

The voice cut off abruptly as the study door opened.

Inanna lifted her eyes and looked over. Beside the desk, the person who had been gesticulating wildly and saying something rather outrageous, only to look embarrassed the moment she entered, was someone she knew—her teacher's other student, Calvin.

He was an excessively energetic fellow. Every time she saw him, he was either being punished by their teacher
