Chu Household and the Disguise

Chu Song comes from the main line of the Chu Household, one of the five great aristocratic clans and a family of hereditary beast cultivators. Despite that standing, feeding its spirit beasts consumes the household’s wealth. Chu Song openly admits that he intends to learn the Profound Heaven Sect’s talisman techniques before going to the Beast Taming Sect 2.

He meets Tang Yao on the way to the Profound Heaven Sect, and the two agree to look after each other. Believing her to be a man from a Tang Household side branch, he follows her proposed disguise strategy and dresses as a woman. Tang Yao names him “Chu Xiaohua”; he retaliates by naming her “Tang Xiaocao.” Elder Ling immediately recognizes his transformation Law Artifact but chooses not to expose him 2.

Profound Heaven Sect Trials

Chu Song reaches the eightieth step of the physical trial before Tang Yao persuades him to stop and meditate, warning that becoming a direct disciple could complicate his intended departure. He also reveals that his household hired a talisman teacher, giving him prior training 4.

During the talisman examination, he interrupts his work to defend Tang Yao against Jiang He. He then resumes his unfinished Flame Talisman without disrupting its quality, producing a high-grade talisman carrying a trace of lightning’s might and briefly taking first place 7.

In the secret realm trial, Chi Wang ambushes him and steals his identity token. Chu Song is subsequently surrounded by a beast tide and can no longer suppress his breakthrough. Tang Yao retrieves his token and reaches him during the tribulation; the two use the heavenly lightning to cultivate rather than withdraw from the trial 9 10.

Afterward, they discover a hidden cavern where White Tiger helps Tang Yao awaken and contract with Vermilion Bird. Chu Song joins Tang Yao in ambushing Chi Wang and taking his token, then helps rescue Jiang He before leaving the realm. He finishes first overall and becomes a Profound Heaven Sect direct disciple under his assumed identity 10 11 12 13.

Fusang Secret Realm and Return

Chu Song travels with Jiang Yueyan, Tang Yao, and Chi Wang to Myriad Ancient City. There, he confronts Xiao Linyu for insulting Tang Yao and disgracing the Beast Taming Sect, although Xiao Linyu does not recognize his disguised eldest senior brother 15 17.

Inside the Fusang Secret Realm, Chu Song joins Tang Yao and Xiao Linyu in crossing a forest that drains spiritual power. They rely on talismans to conserve their cultivation before becoming trapped in the Spirit-Devouring Blood Formation 20 21.

After Tang Yao and Xiao Linyu disappear into a spatial rift, Chu Song and the others wait for Tang Yao daily before returning to report her disappearance. He sends her ninety-nine messages. When Devil Cultivators infiltrate the Beast Taming Sect and contaminate its beasts, he confesses his identity to Duan Xiangyuan and insists on returning. Rather than punishing him, Duan gives him Spirit Artifacts that preserve mental clarity 28.

Moon Worship Cult Attack

During a later training excursion, Chu Song protects his junior disciples from the Moon Worship Cult’s devil humans. He forces a beast transformation normally reserved for Nascent Soul cultivators and refuses to escape alone. He also pulls Xiao Linyu out of the path of a potentially fatal bone-blade attack 37.

Ren Linfeng destroys the attackers, and Tang Yao supplies Chu Song with healing pills. Still injured, Chu Song attends the subsequent four-sect conference with his right hand wrapped in gauze 37 38.

Tang Household Banquet

Chu Song accompanies his father to Tang Yao’s birthday banquet. Chu Xuanming brings a supreme-grade defensive Law Artifact in acknowledgment of Ren Linfeng’s rescue and Tang Yao’s help. Guests interpret the friendly exchange between the Chu and Tang patriarchs as a possible improvement in relations between their households 48.

After escaping the fathers’ mutual praise, Chu Song spends time with Tang Yao and Sun Yin. His teasing criticism of sword cultivators leads to an awkward exchange when Tang Yao enthusiastically agrees with him 48 49.

Personality

Chu Song is outspoken, easily provoked, and fiercely protective of his friends. When Jiang He accuses Tang Yao of deceiving the sect, he abandons his examination work to confront her and mocks both her talisman skills and her reliance on the Jiang Household. His hostility toward Chi Wang also becomes motivation: after fighting him to a draw, Chu Song grows so angry that he cultivates through the night 7 15.

His bluntness coexists with considerable trust in Tang Yao. He accepts her cross-dressing plan, follows her suggestion to temper his body with heavenly lightning, and regards her as his comrade-in-arms. As the Beast Taming Sect’s eldest disciple, he shows a more responsible side, remaining with endangered juniors even when he could escape by himself 2 7 10 37.
