Arc 1The Sword Prodigy’s Departure

Luo Ge grew from a gifted child swordsman into a wanderer after leaving home for the Sword Sanctum. A clash with Orsted led him to Hitogami and Laplace’s laboratory, where he chose to grow stronger in secret rather than trust either side.

  • Luo Ge was accidentally reincarnated in Mushoku Tensei, received the Transparent World as compensation, and discovered he could use it to read bodies and anticipate movement.
  • Luo Ge learned chantless magic but chose swordsmanship, defeated Paul in a spar, and impressed Roxy with his fighting skill and rapid mastery.
  • Luo Ge left home with Roxy after defeating Paul, then traveled with Ghislaine toward the Sword Sanctum and demonstrated his talent to her.
  • At House Boreas, Luo Ge easily defeated Eris, and Ghislaine told him about the Seven Great Powers and her master, Gal Farion.

  • Hitogami told Luo Ge he had been teleported after his fall and urged him to learn God-Rank Healing Magic, claiming Luo Ge’s descendants could help defeat the Dragon God.
  • Luo Ge understood the healing spell, restored his wounds and severed arm, and woke in Laplace’s sealed laboratory.
  • Luo Ge studied Laplace’s books and found a letter asking him to help Orsted kill Hitogami, but he resolved to build strength in secret because he trusted neither side.
Chapters 1–25 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 1Transmigrating to Another World in My Best Friend's Place?

After being killed by a dump truck meant for his friend Song Jiahao, Luo Ge was reincarnated as a newborn in the world of Mushoku Tensei. The system unbound itself after giving him the Transparent World, leaving him to grow up without its help.

  • Luo Ge was born alongside his older twin brother, Rudeus, and slapped him aside to drink first, making their mother Zenith and maid Lilia wonder at the babies’ behavior.
  • Luo Ge recalled visiting his shut-in friend Song Jiahao before a dump truck struck and killed him as he crossed the road.
  • A system admitted it had meant to send Song Jiahao to Mushoku Tensei but had hit Luo Ge by mistake, then explained that it could not bind to him because he lacked the fortune of a protagonist.
  • Luo Ge persuaded the system to leave him compensation before it unbound, and it gave him the Transparent World.
  • The system departed without explaining the gift, leaving Luo Ge reincarnated in an unfamiliar world and frustrated at being abandoned.

Ch. 2Two and a half years in another world, with Rudeus as my big brother

Luo Ge and Rudeus discovered each other’s past lives and secretly studied magic, though Rudeus proved far more talented. After Luo Ge finally learned to cast water magic without chanting, he glimpsed the Transparent World while watching Paul practice and decided to pursue swordsmanship.

  • Luo Ge teased Rudeus awake, and the brothers wrestled before joining Paul and Zenith for breakfast.
  • Rudeus showed Luo Ge how to cast water magic, but Luo Ge failed repeatedly to produce a spell.
  • That night, Luo Ge confronted Rudeus about being reincarnated, shared details of his own past life, and let Rudeus keep his secrets.
  • Over the following weeks, the brothers concluded that people could increase their mana by exhausting it, and Luo Ge learned to cast water magic without chanting.
  • Luo Ge watched Paul practice swordsmanship and saw inside his body and anticipated his movements, realizing this was the Transparent World and choosing to become a swordsman.

Ch. 3The swordsmanship genius was me all along?

When Rudeus accidentally unleashed intermediate magic in the attic, his parents discovered that both he and Luo Ge could cast magic without chanting. The family decided that Rudeus would study magic and Luo Ge would train in swordsmanship, a path Luo Ge chose because he trusted the god-tier swordsmanship talent his system had given him.

  • Rudeus blasted a hole through the attic wall with an intermediate water spell, soaking part of Buena Village, and Luo Ge blamed him when Paul and Zenith arrived.
  • Zenith celebrated Rudeus's magical talent, then discovered that Luo Ge could also cast chantless magic with a Water Ball.
  • Luo Ge told Paul and Zenith that he preferred swordsmanship over studying magic, and Paul eagerly agreed to train him.
  • Paul and Zenith planned for Rudeus to study magic and Luo Ge to learn swordsmanship under Paul.
  • Luo Ge privately decided to focus on swordsmanship because he believed his god-tier talent would let him surpass Rudeus in that field.

Ch. 4A talent for the Transparent World!

Paul began teaching Luo Ge and Rudeus swordsmanship, but while Rudeus struggled with the basics, Luo Ge asked to spar with his father. As their match began, Luo Ge activated the Transparent World and spotted an opening in Paul's stance.

  • Paul began swordsmanship lessons for three-year-old Luo Ge, and Rudeus overcame his reluctance to join them in the yard.
  • Paul demonstrated his swordsmanship by cleaving a large stone, then criticized Rudeus's clumsy attempts to copy him.
  • Luo Ge asked to spar with Paul instead of practicing basic techniques, and Paul agreed to a wooden-sword match.
  • Rudeus warned Paul not to underestimate Luo Ge, but Paul confidently prepared to fight.
  • Luo Ge felt an uncanny affinity for the sword, activated the Transparent World, read Paul's body's movements, and found an opening.

Ch. 5Paul let his guard down and didn't dodge.

Luo Ge used his Transparent World ability to knock Paul unconscious with one sword strike, astonishing his family. After Paul woke and tried to challenge him again, Luo Ge promised to have a fair match with him when he grew up.

  • Luo Ge moved behind Paul and struck the vulnerable nerves in his neck, knocking him unconscious with one blow.
  • Zenith celebrated Luo Ge's swordsmanship, and he explained that he could see blood flow and changes inside people's bodies; Zenith identified him as a Divine Child.
  • Paul woke up and learned that his three-year-old son had really defeated him, leaving him shaken and eager to restore his dignity.
  • Paul challenged Luo Ge to another match, but Zenith stepped in to protect her son.
  • Luo Ge promised Paul they would have a fair match when he grew up, and they sealed the promise with a pinky swear.

Ch. 6Watch closely, old man. This strike will be cool!

After Paul learned that Luo Ge had taught himself swordsmanship by watching him, he agreed to train his three-year-old son and explained the sword styles, ranks, and touki. Luo Ge spent the night practicing, then claimed he had finally understood something and prepared to demonstrate a strike to Paul.

  • Paul asked Luo Ge how he had defeated him, and Luo Ge explained that he could read blood flow, mana, muscles, and bones to predict movements.
  • Paul recognized Luo Ge's exceptional sword talent and warned him to keep his abilities secret from everyone else.
  • Luo Ge explained that he had learned the three sword styles by watching Paul practice, prompting Paul to begin training him immediately.
  • Paul explained the seven swordsman ranks and said Luo Ge was still a Beginner Rank because he had not mastered touki.
  • Luo Ge practiced sword swings through the night, then told Paul he had finally understood and raised his wooden sword toward a courtyard tree.

Ch. 7Pufferfish were just too OP.

Luo Ge demonstrated that he could coat a sword in Touki, then nearly died after eating poisonous fish during his first solo outing. Roxy Migurdia saved him, and he escorted her home after learning she had been hired as his and Rudeus's magic tutor.

  • Luo Ge coated his wooden sword in Touki and snapped a tree, astonishing Paul before blaming him when Zenith discovered the damage.
  • After half a month of training, Luo Ge went out alone, caught and roasted fish, and collapsed after eating poisonous pufferfish.
  • Roxy Migurdia found Luo Ge and used healing magic to save him, then warned him not to eat random things.
  • Luo Ge learned Roxy was a demon and the Greyrat family's new tutor, introduced himself, and led her toward his home.
  • Roxy doubted that three-year-old Luo Ge could learn magic, while he insisted he already knew several kinds of beginner magic.

Ch. 8Voiceless Magic shocked Roxy

Roxy Migurdia joined the Greyrat household as a tutor after discovering that Luo Ge and Rudeus could cast magic without chanting. As she taught them, Luo Ge focused on swordsmanship despite Roxy’s hopes that he would develop his magical talent.

  • Luo Ge brought Roxy to meet Paul and Zenith, and Rudeus’s rude remark prompted Luo Ge to smack him.
  • Roxy demonstrated a beginner water spell, and both boys reproduced it without incantations, leaving her stunned by their self-taught abilities.
  • Roxy accepted the tutor position and began teaching the brothers magic theory, geography, and the customs of the world.
  • Luo Ge asked whether mages or swordsmen were stronger and told Roxy that he dreamed of becoming a swordsman, leaving her speechless when he asked if he could beat Rudeus.
  • Rudeus advanced to intermediate and began studying advanced and healing magic, while Luo Ge spent most of his time practicing swordsmanship and neglecting his magic homework.

Ch. 9Voiceless Water Magic

Luo Ge caught Roxy secretly watching Paul and Zenith, then used her embarrassment to persuade her to accompany him. The chapter ended as Roxy nervously prepared to honor their agreement at a deserted riverbank.

  • Luo Ge promised to keep Roxy's secret and persuaded her to agree to his request.
  • The next morning, Rudeus noticed Luo Ge and Roxy acting strangely and imagined that his younger brother was plotting against him.
  • Rudeus tried to stop Luo Ge from taking Roxy away, but Luo Ge knocked him down, and Roxy healed him before leaving.
  • Luo Ge and Roxy reached a deserted riverbank, where Roxy reluctantly agreed to honor their arrangement once.

Ch. 10A genius? This was a monster...

Luo Ge enjoyed grilled pufferfish with Roxy, then killed an Assault Dog with a single sword strike after Roxy defeated the other monsters. Roxy realized Luo Ge was a monstrous swordsmanship talent and returned to Buena Village feeling dejected.

  • Luo Ge made Roxy help him catch pufferfish and use detoxification magic, then persuaded her to try the grilled fish.
  • Luo Ge and Roxy encountered a Doom Boar and three Assault Dogs near the river, and Roxy explained the monsters and defeated them with water and fire magic.
  • Roxy explained why adventurers burned monster corpses, unaware that an Assault Dog had survived and circled behind them.
  • Luo Ge drew his wooden sword and killed the surviving Assault Dog with one swift strike, leaving Roxy stunned by his swordsmanship and Touki.
  • Luo Ge excitedly talked about his first monster kill on the way home while Roxy brooded over being outshone by her pupil.

Ch. 11A heart-to-heart under the moon

After returning from their picnic, Luo Ge confronted Rudeus about his past and asked whether he wanted to return to his original world. They shared their feelings and made a promise to face life together, though sounds from Paul and Zenith next door soon spoiled the moment.

  • Luo Ge caught Rudeus spying outside Roxy's room and dragged him back to bed.
  • Luo Ge asked whether Rudeus had been a peeping Tom in his previous life, and Rudeus fell silent instead of denying it.
  • Rudeus said he had no desire to return to his original world, while Luo Ge admitted he would probably want to go back to his family.
  • Rudeus said he envied Luo Ge and saw himself as a failure, but Luo Ge offered his fist and encouraged them to do their best together.
  • Luo Ge and Rudeus bumped fists beneath the moon, then heard Paul and Zenith next door and retreated under the blanket.

Ch. 12Teacher, Don't Turn Around, It's Me, Rudeus...

  • Paul, Zenith, Lilia, and Roxy celebrated Rudeus and Luo Ge’s fifth birthday with gifts, including swords, books, wands, and a grilled pufferfish for Luo Ge.
  • Paul began teaching Rudeus swordsmanship, but Rudeus could not use Touki, while Rudeus advanced to Water Saint Rank magic and Luo Ge focused on swordsmanship.
  • Roxy encouraged the frightened Rudeus to leave the house, and the three rode to the grassland for his graduation exam.
  • Roxy demonstrated Cumulonimbus, then Rudeus cast an even more powerful version and earned his Water Saint Rank qualification.
  • Roxy packed to leave the next morning, and Luo Ge slipped into her room and covered her eyes, telling her it was him.

Ch. 13A rebellious disciple making a move on his master?

Luo Ge challenged Roxy to a duel so she would take him to the Sword Sanctum, then left home with her after defeating her. Paul caught them in Roa and brought them back, ending Luo Ge’s escape attempt.

  • Luo Ge asked Roxy to take him to the Sword Sanctum, but she refused because the journey was too dangerous for a child.
  • Luo Ge proposed a duel, wagering that Roxy would take him if he won and that he would keep her secret if he lost; Roxy accepted.
  • Luo Ge defeated Roxy with a single strike, then carried her away with him during the night.
  • Lilia discovered Luo Ge’s letter the next morning and told Zenith that he had eloped with Roxy.
  • Luo Ge and Roxy reached Roa, where Paul caught them and took them home.

Ch. 14Father-son showdown, Luo Ge vs. Paul

At a family meeting, Luo Ge asked Paul and Zenith for permission to leave for the Sword Sanctum with Roxy and study the Sword God Style. Paul refused because Luo Ge was only five, so Luo Ge challenged him to a duel; after Luo Ge nearly disarmed Paul with a Water God Style counter, he prepared to attack.

  • Rudeus revealed that Luo Ge had used something against Roxy to blackmail her, and Luo Ge apologized before asking his parents to let him train at the Sword Sanctum.
  • Paul suggested that Luo Ge wait until he was older and study the Water God Style in Ars, but Luo Ge insisted on the Sword God Style.
  • Paul refused to let Luo Ge leave yet and said he would have to prove he was strong enough by defeating him.
  • Luo Ge challenged Paul immediately, and Rudeus refereed their duel in the courtyard.
  • Paul attacked first with the Silent Blade, but Luo Ge used the Water God Style's Flow to deflect the strike and knock Paul's wooden sword away.
  • Paul recovered with a North God Style technique, and Luo Ge began moving as Paul recognized his next attack in shock.

Ch. 15Paul's defeat shocked everyone

Luo Ge defeated Paul by copying and perfecting Silent Blade after seeing it once, earning his father's recognition as an Advanced Swordsman. At dinner, the family accepted Luo Ge's decision to leave home and pursue his own path.

  • Luo Ge countered Paul's Silent Blade with Flow, then defeated him using a flawless version of the same technique, shocking everyone watching.
  • Luo Ge revealed he had learned Silent Blade by imitating Paul's demonstration, and Paul realized his five-year-old son had surpassed him.

  • Rudeus challenged Paul to a fight and was soundly beaten, helping Paul regain some confidence.
  • Paul told Luo Ge he would let him make his own choices, and the family accepted Luo Ge's decision to leave home.

Ch. 16My son has the makings of a Sword God.

Luo Ge prepared to leave home with Roxy, but waited for Paul’s old adventuring companion Ghislaine to arrive and escort them. Ghislaine tested Luo Ge’s swordsmanship, recognized his extraordinary potential despite his defeat, and agreed to help him on his journey.

  • Paul told Luo Ge and Roxy that he had arranged for an old friend from the Sword Sanctum to escort them, and Luo Ge stayed home while they waited for her.
  • Ghislaine arrived and introduced herself as the Black Wolf Sword King, then agreed to test Luo Ge’s ability.
  • Luo Ge fought Ghislaine with a wooden sword and was knocked down, but his Silent Blade left a shallow mark on her neck.
  • Ghislaine explained that Luo Ge had nearly struck her down and judged that he had the potential to become the Sword God.
  • Ghislaine agreed to help Luo Ge, while Zenith celebrated his talent and Paul worried over how much stronger his son might become.

Ch. 17My foolish little brother.

Luo Ge traveled toward the Sword Sanctum with Ghislaine after Roxy left him a farewell letter. At home, Rudeus spiraled into jealousy over Luo Ge and Roxy’s departure, while Luo Ge took comfort in the hope that he and Roxy would meet again.

  • Ghislaine told Luo Ge that Paul and Zenith had hired her to escort him to the Sword Sanctum and gave him their letter.
  • Luo Ge read Paul and Zenith’s affectionate instructions, then opened Roxy’s letter explaining why she had left and thanking him for their time together.
  • Ghislaine told Luo Ge that Roxy had held his hand while he was unconscious and asked her to look after him, lifting his spirits.
  • Paul comforted Zenith as they watched Luo Ge’s carriage disappear, while Rudeus imagined Luo Ge marrying Roxy and despaired over losing his sacred relic.
  • Rudeus swore that he and Luo Ge could not live under the same sky, while Luo Ge sneezed in the distant carriage and guessed that Roxy was thinking of him.

Ch. 18That Time I Got Involved with a Noble Young Lady

  • Philip offered Rog and Ghislaine a guest room for the night, and Rog explored the estate on the way there.

Ch. 19A small goal: become one of the Seven Great Powers?

Luo Ge and Ghislaine left House Boreas after he easily defeated Eris in a duel, then discussed Ghislaine’s past and the Seven Great Powers during their journey. Ghislaine believed Luo Ge might one day claim a title, while he wondered if he owed Roxy an apology for overpowering her.

  • Eris challenged Luo Ge to a duel for Ghislaine, but he quickly knocked her down and left her humiliated.
  • Ghislaine told Luo Ge about her difficult childhood and her history with Paul in the adventuring party Black Wolf's Fang.
  • Ghislaine explained that the Seven Great Powers were the world’s strongest fighters and that her master, Gal Farion, held the sixth-ranked Sword God title.
  • Luo Ge said he might claim a Seven Great Powers title someday, and Ghislaine said his talent could make that possible.
  • Ghislaine dismissed magicians as vulnerable opponents, leading Luo Ge to suspect that Roxy had left after he hurt her and to resolve to apologize if he saw her again.

Ch. 20Silver hair, golden eyes-answer me, who is he?

Luo Ge and Ghislaine crossed the dangerous Red Dragon Mountains, with Luo Ge teaching Ghislaine to read and use magic along the way. After red dragons suddenly attacked and then fled, a silver-haired, golden-eyed man approached them, leaving Ghislaine tense and Luo Ge wary.

  • Luo Ge and Ghislaine left the carriage and entered the snowy Red Dragon Mountains on foot.
  • Luo Ge used Fireball to start a campfire, then agreed to teach Ghislaine magic and began teaching her to read.
  • Ghislaine guided Luo Ge through the mountains and warned him to avoid the red dragons, which hunted in groups.
  • Half a month later, a swarm of red dragons attacked Ghislaine and Luo Ge on a dangerous mountain path, but abruptly scattered and fled.
  • Ghislaine sensed someone approaching, and a cold, silver-haired man with golden eyes walked toward them without looking their way.

Ch. 21Dragon God, Orsted

  • Ghislaine blocked Orsted’s first strike and fought him, but he overwhelmed her and left her unconscious.
  • Rog fought Orsted with his sword and magic, but Orsted disarmed and wounded him, then explained that he wanted to prevent Rog from helping Hitogami defeat him.
  • Rog pretended to be dead, tried magic when Orsted saw through the ruse, then leaped into the abyss to escape.
  • Orsted jumped after Rog, but a stray Red Dragon struck Rog off course and took Orsted’s attack, allowing Rog to disappear from the abyss.

Ch. 22The Guy Who Called Himself the Human God!

After Luo Ge was badly wounded by the Dragon God, he spoke with Hitogami in the Void World and learned that he had survived through a teleportation circle. Hitogami asked him to follow his advice so they could defeat the Dragon God, and Luo Ge agreed to hear what he had to do.

  • Luo Ge awoke in a white void in his original-world appearance and feared he was dead.
  • Hitogami introduced himself as the Human God and claimed the Dragon God had destroyed the other five worlds of the Six-Faced World.
  • Luo Ge suspected Hitogami was connected to his arrival, but Hitogami denied summoning him and said he could not send him home.
  • Hitogami explained that Luo Ge was unconscious and had been teleported away after falling into a magic circle while fleeing the Dragon God.
  • Hitogami admitted he was sealed in the Void World and could not fight the Dragon God himself, then asked Luo Ge to follow his advice.
  • Luo Ge agreed that he wanted to defeat the Dragon God and asked Hitogami what he should do.

Ch. 23Hitogami's advice

Hitogami gave Luo Ge advice for surviving in the white room and explained why he believed Luo Ge could help defeat the Dragon God. Hitogami vanished after revealing that Luo Ge’s future descendant would help him, while Luo Ge remained wary but chose to trust him over the Dragon God.

  • Hitogami told Luo Ge to search the white room for useful items and learn a gray magic book within three days to survive.
  • Luo Ge questioned Hitogami’s certainty and threatened to side with the Dragon God unless Hitogami explained himself.
  • Hitogami said Luo Ge was protected by the strong luck of his future descendants, including one who would help defeat the Dragon God.
  • Hitogami revealed that his Future Sight had shown him a future in which the Dragon God defeated him, but Luo Ge’s arrival offered a chance to change that outcome.
  • Luo Ge decided Hitogami’s help was more trustworthy than the Dragon God’s hostility, and Hitogami vanished from the white space.

Ch. 24God-Rank Healing Magic

After surviving Orsted’s attack, Luo Ge found the God-Rank Healing Magic book Hitogami had described and struggled to learn it before his wounds killed him. He finally understood the spell, healed himself, and collapsed with his mana exhausted, alive thanks to Roxy’s teachings.

  • Luo Ge woke in a teleportation room, badly wounded by Orsted, and found that ordinary healing magic could not mend him.
  • Luo Ge crawled to the bookshelves and found the untitled book of God-Rank Healing Magic that Hitogami had described.
  • Luo Ge spent nearly three days trying to learn the book, but his wounds worsened as rote memorization failed him.
  • Luo Ge remembered Roxy’s advice to understand magic rather than memorize it and grasped the spell’s framework.
  • Luo Ge cast Divine Samsara Healing, restored his wounds and severed arm, then collapsed after exhausting his mana.

Ch. 25Demon Dragon King, Laplace

Luo Ge recovered in the sealed laboratory of Demon Dragon King Laplace, learned to read its writings, and discovered research that included a design for the Battle God Armor. Laplace’s letter urged him to help Dragon God Orsted defeat Hitogami, leaving Luo Ge caught between conflicting claims and determined to grow stronger in secret.

  • Luo Ge woke with white hair and a restored arm in a sealed laboratory, then realized a teleportation circle had carried him there after his fall in the Red Dragon Mountains.
  • He explored the room, found supplies and books left by its owner, and spent more than a month learning the Fighting God, Demon God, and Beast God scripts.
  • Luo Ge learned that the laboratory belonged to Laplace, also known as the Demon Dragon King, and found a preliminary design for the Battle God Armor among his research.
  • Luo Ge discovered Laplace’s letter asking him to tell Dragon God Orsted to kill Hitogami and to help Orsted fulfill that mission.
  • Because Hitogami had helped him while the Dragon God had nearly killed him, Luo Ge could not trust either side and resolved to build his strength in secret.
