Are you looking for me...?
The moment the voice reached his ears, Derrick froze, his skin tensed, and every hair on his body stood on end.
Why is he behind me?
How did he end up in my room?
What about the seal?
What are the effects of that magical item?
Derrick felt cold sweat bead on his forehead and instinctively wanted to turn his head to look back.
But his instincts prevented him from doing so.
This book draws inspiration from the " Monster Common Sense" class in City of Silver and the strange scenes he experienced after joining the patrol:
Don't turn around immediately when someone is talking behind your back!
Derrick raised his hands, clenched them into fists in front of his chest, and then, on high alert, slowly, little by little, turned his body halfway around.
The room was completely dark, making it impossible to see anything, but in Derrick's two eyes, a point of golden light expanded, transforming into two miniature the Sun.
Using the abilities of this " Light Suppliant," he saw a dark figure sitting quietly on the edge of his bed.
The dark figure quickly became clearer, revealing a head that had been vertically split open!
In the middle of his head, two grayish-white cerebral discs seemed to writhe as if alive, wanting to come closer but unable to.
On the cut surface of the brain, viscous fluid dripped down in thin threads, yet contracted upwards like maggots.
The eyes, each on one side, were far apart; the bridge of the nose was split in the middle, and the blood was bright red.
The left half of the mouth was open, while the right half was tightly closed.
This terrifying Monster was naked, with dark red wounds crisscrossing its body.
The countless wounds gaped open, revealing rows of gleaming white teeth, all uttering the same sentence in unison:
Are you looking for me...?
It paused, and the corners of its mouth and the edges of its wound all curled up:
"See, am I normal...?"
Derrick's pupils contracted instantly, and without thinking, he raised his hands, which had been clenched into fists in front of his chest, and placed them under his chin, as if in prayer.
The small room suddenly became bright, and pure beams of light, wreathed in flames, fell from the ceiling and struck the Monster.
This beam of light was not as dazzling as when Derrick used it outside the Round Tower, because the seal here, the magical artifacts here, separated the inside from the outside.
But at that moment, Derrick was astonished to see the divine beam of light he had prayed for suddenly thicken, becoming so brilliant that he couldn't help but want to close his eyes.
In the dim light, something even purer and more concentrated separated from that magnificent pillar of light, like a person of light without features or clothes!
The "light man" suddenly flashed and pounced on the Monster.
All of the Monster's "mouths" suddenly opened wide, as if emitting a shrill scream.
However, Derrick heard nothing.
The Monster trembled violently, then quickly disintegrated and melted away under the burning and radiance of the "Light Man".
Just as it became almost transparent, a strange phantom suddenly appeared there, dressed in a black classical robe and wearing a pointed soft hat!
The phantom had black eyes, black pupils, a broad forehead, a thin face, and wore a single crystal-carved eyepiece.
The moment he appeared, the "Light Man" suddenly exploded, Derrick's eyes were filled with a white light.
When he regained his vision, he found himself outside the room, in a corridor lined with metal lamp holders, bathed in Yellow Light.
He turned his head blankly and looked into the room, where he saw a tall, strong figure wearing dark trousers and a brown coat.
In front of him, on Derrick's original bed, a sliver of Dawn -like light rapidly coalesced onto a white leg bone, transforming it into a Pure White, sharp straight sword.
Beside the straight sword lay a translucent little worm.
It is only the length of a thumb, slender almost like a child's little finger, and its rings of completely transparent color divide it into many segments.
Derrick glanced at them, not bothering to count the rings, but vaguely sensed there were about ten.
With his back to the tall figure, he reached out and picked up the strange, translucent worm, sighing as he turned around:
"Almost..."
At this moment, Derrick finally saw the tall figure clearly from the front:
His hair was gray and unkempt, appearing quite messy. He had deep nasolabial folds, but no wrinkles around his eyes or on his forehead. His cheeks bore some old scars, some deep and Distortion.
He wore a linen shirt underneath, with a multi-sectioned leather belt around his waist. His light blue eyes were deep and weathered, and he looked like a book filled with stories.
Derrick was taken aback at first, then spoke with a look of delighted relief, as if he had just escaped a dangerous situation:
"Your Excellency, Chief!"
Standing before him was none other than Colin Iliad, the powerful " Demon Hunter " who was over a hundred years old and the "Chief" of the City of Silver's " Council of Six "!
Colin nodded slightly and said:
"We've always known he had a problem, but in order to find out what that guy named Amon was up to and what strange things he was doing, we deliberately didn't eliminate him directly. Instead, we locked him up at the bottom of the round tower, sealed him under the influence of magical artifacts, and often had some Beyonder were only showing signs of losing control move in next door to him to talk to him and see if we could induce some abnormal changes in him, so as to get the things we wanted to know."
Unfortunately, until today, he was perfectly normal, too normal.
Why do you think he suddenly changed and tried to break through the seal? How do you feel you are different from others?
So it was a deliberate arrangement to put me next to that former exploration team leader... Derrick paused for a few seconds, seemingly realizing something, and then said:
"Perhaps it's because my Beyonder Pathway differs from others, Sequence 9 ' Bard,' Sequence 8 ' Light Suppliant.'"
That is, the " The Sun " pathway... If Mr. The Hanged Man is right, the Amon Family are descendants of the Ancient The Sun God, then it's perfectly normal for me to cause him to undergo an anomaly... Derrick felt that he had grasped a certain truth.
Colin listened without changing his expression, then looked Derrick up and down for a few seconds before saying:
"We were monitoring him, with members of the ' Council of Six ' taking turns, but we didn't expect him to suddenly change like this, without any warning, and his actions were very decisive and resolute."
What did you just do in the room?
Derrick was pondering the connection between the " The Sun " pathway and the descendants of the Ancient The Sun God, and for a moment he didn't realize what the "Chief" was asking.
After he understood, his mind was still a little blank as he carefully recalled what he had just done.
I didn't do anything, I just knocked on the partition wall, trying to communicate with him... Before this, before this, I was attending Tarot Gathering... Tarot Gathering! Derrick suddenly froze, realizing that things were probably not as simple as he had imagined.
He knew he couldn't tell the "Chief" what he was thinking, but he didn't know what kind of expression to make, so he could only maintain his usual lonely and reserved silence, and ponder as he spoke:
I knocked on the wall, three times.
Before that, the candles in my room went out, plunging me into darkness, and I tried to practice some of my extraordinary abilities.
Colin looked silently into Derrick's eyes, and after a dozen seconds or so, he said:
"Unfortunately, what remained in Amon's soul was not his original body, and things happened too suddenly; we didn't get the result we wanted..."
Before his transformation, did you notice anything unusual?
"No," Derrick said, shaking his head quite firmly.
Two complex, dark green symbols suddenly appeared in Colin's eyes, casting Derrick's image between them.
After nearly ten seconds of silence, the City of Silver "Chief" closed his eyes and said:
"Your condition has stabilized, you no longer need treatment, you can go home."
Derrick paused for a moment and said:
"OK."
He watched as " The Demon Hunter " Colin Iliad turned and went into the room, picked up the Pure White, sharp straight sword, and examined it over and over.
He took a quiet breath and walked along the corridor toward the exit, encountering the guards who were arriving one after another.
He slowly returned home, closed the door, carefully observed his surroundings for a while, sat on the edge of the bed, and softly recited:
" The Fool That Doesn't Belong to This Era, you are the Mysterious Ruler Above the Gray Fog, you are the King of Yellow and Black who holds good fortune."
"I just went through something terrible..."
Derrick recounted the events that had occurred, and mentioned his two guesses.
After doing all this, he felt much more at ease.
As the tension subsided, he felt intense fatigue, so he lay down and quickly fell asleep.
In the quiet, dimly lit room, streaks of lightning would sometimes illuminate everything, and sometimes disappear into the Evernight.
While fast asleep Derrick's right index finger suddenly twitched on its own, leisurely tapping the bed surface.
One, two, three...
After the Tarot Gathering ended, Klein, feeling quite Spirituality drained, didn't bother with the Divination the " Werewolf " Beyonder Characteristic or the Biotoxin Bottle. Instead, he returned directly to the real world and took a nap. He woke up twenty minutes later, drew back the curtains, and let the radiant light filtering through the thin mist bring some illumination to the room.
Sitting down in the chair at his desk, Klein calmed himself and began to think about the things he needed to do recently:
"The most important thing is to continue summarizing the ' Magician Code ' and make adjustments based on subtle Spirituality feedback."
While the rules like "never perform unprepared," "need a stage and need to perform," and "be good at using distractions to complete a performance" seem fine for now, and by continuing to "perform" and gradually adjusting myself, I will eventually digest the Potion to the point where I can advance, this Acting is insufficient and lacks some important "rules," which will slow down the digestion process and make it incomplete. Perhaps it will take a year, two years, or even three years to advance.
But Ince Zangwill won't stay put and wait for me! Only by becoming High-Sequence individual as soon as possible will I be qualified for revenge!
Therefore, exploring other ' Magician ' rules' is the first priority, starting with verifying whether ' Spectator applause' can trigger one's own Spirituality, thereby better digesting the Potion.
Just as Klein was deep in thought, he suddenly heard illusory, layered prayers in his ears.
