After passing through the doorway and entering the underground area, Klein and Alger were no longer exposed to any natural light. The ceiling here was quite intact, without any breaches, so the crimson Moonlight that pierced through the mist could not penetrate it.
Alger then raised the lantern in his hand a little, casting a distinctly dim yellow light on the wide but seemingly endless passageway ahead.
Klein glanced around and spotted at least six stone statues, both male and female, all grayish-white, with even their clothing appearing to be sculpted.
These stone statues include Elf, Giant, and humans with an ancient style; apart from their expressions, all of them are frozen in pain and despair, and none of them resemble each other.
Being stared at so intently by them, and remembering that they might have once been living beings, Klein felt a chill run down his spine. He felt as if a terrifying Monster was opening its mouth deep in the tunnel, in a place ruled by darkness, waiting for the two of them to willingly walk into its belly.
Suppressing their turbulent emotions, neither Klein nor Alger spoke as they moved forward step by step among the Distortion, gray-white stone statues.
After walking for about ten seconds, thanks to the light from the lantern, Klein could see the dilapidated, faded murals on the walls on both sides without needing to rely on the night vision of the " Wraith " Senor.
Several of these paintings are relatively well-preserved, allowing one to discern what they depict. Their main subject is undoubtedly the enormous cross shrouded in layers of light and the majestic figure standing before it.
This blurry yet solemn figure either faces the floodwaters that have submerged the city and reached the mountainside, or stands on the fragmented earth, or looks up at the Starry Sky above, staring back at one after another eerie and insane eye after another emerging from the deep darkness.
A scene of Ancient The Sun God saving the world Apocalypse arrives? This is similar to the murals that Little " The Sun " and the others found in the temple of the " True Creator "... Or, is this a case of copying each other, with everyone trying to emphasize that they were once saviors and the most worthy deities to worship... Klein's gaze moved quickly across the wall, while he slowly entered the depths of the passageway.
Alger was also observing the damaged murals when suddenly, he lowered his voice and spoke in a low, somber tone:
"I doubt the 'truth,' and that the ' Fallen Creator ' referenced these sources in his self-description."
Sure enough, everyone's opinion was the same... Klein tilted the " Death Knell " revolver and smiled, saying:
"I wouldn't be surprised if I saw something related to the ' True Creator ' ahead."
"He and the Creator worshipped in the City of Silver likely have some kind of connection." Alger agreed with Gehrman Sparrow's assessment.
The two continued forward, trying to lighten their steps, but there were still faint echoes around them, drifting away into the distance in the extremely quiet atmosphere.
Just then, Klein had a sudden Spirit Intuition and immediately stepped forward, blocking Alger's path and obscuring most of the lantern's light.
Less than two seconds later, he heard a dull thud coming from afar.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The ground trembled slightly, becoming more and more noticeable, and then Klein saw a figure nearly four meters tall emerge from ahead.
It is also grayish-white all over, with patterns carved on its body like armor plates. It has goat horns on its head and a mouth like a hunting dog, with fangs showing between its half-open and half-closed mouth.
What's most striking about it are its eyes that glow Red Light and its six pairs of grayish-white membrane-covered wings.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The Monster, carrying a seven- or eight-meter-long stone halberd, slowly entered the passageway. With each step it took, the earth shook, transmitting a heavy feeling to the surroundings.
Although Klein had never seen the actual object before, he recognized it at a glance.
This is Six-Winged Gargoyle!
Its core crystal is one of the main materials of the Marionettist, and its extraordinary abilities are bound to be extremely unique and difficult to defend against!
Judging from its appearance, size, and construction materials, it must be very strong in direct combat and unafraid of most types of damage... It only needs to slide forward and smash its heavy stone halberd to inflict terrifying damage... Klein stretched out his left hand, not in a hurry to react.
He and Alger remained where they were, one using his body and the other his clothes to dimly illuminate the lantern's light.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The Six-Winged Gargoyle didn't look towards where the two were; it crossed the passageway sideways, its footsteps fading into the distance.
Sure enough, its senses weren't very strong... No wonder Qilangos was able to go deep underground and return safely back then... Klein waited until the footsteps were no longer noticeable before continuing forward and crossing the crossroads.
In truth, with his current strength and equipment, and his understanding of his target, killing a Six-Winged Gargoyle wouldn't be too dangerous, especially with the " The Hanged Man " providing assistance. The reason he abandoned his attack plan was that he didn't know how many Six-Winged Gargoyle were in this underground area. If a battle broke out and caused too much noise, he might be surrounded, leaving him no choice but to rely on " Travel " to escape. Moreover, if he alerted the being that even nearby supernatural beings dared not approach this ruin, the trouble would increase exponentially.
Controlling one's Greed is one of the prerequisites for adventurous exploration.
Alger was quite pleased with the mad adventurer's calm and rational demeanor, and became increasingly suspicious that the other party was carrying out some orders from Mr. " The Fool," which was why he had restrained his impulse to attack the Six-Winged Gargoyle.
The calmer he appears, the more frantic he'll be when he encounters his true target... Alger's thoughts flashed through his mind, and he followed Gehrman Sparrow across the intersection, heading straight ahead.
The murals on both sides are still dilapidated, yet they still occasionally tell the story of the greatness and holiness of that Ancient The Sun God.
Finally, Klein and Alger reached the end of the passageway, where there was a double stone door, seven or eight meters high, engraved with various symbols related to death, sleep, end, rebirth, and beginning.
"A tomb?" Klein turned to Alger and asked.
Alger nodded and said:
"It could also be a temple."
Clearly, he also suspected that the temples and tombs here were unified.
The gray stone door in front of them was not completely closed; there was a gap large enough for a child to pass through. Alger glanced at his own frame, walked over, put down the lantern he was carrying, sheathed the short blade, and placed his hands on one side of the door.
He took a slow breath, bent his knees, and his arm muscles suddenly bulged.
Without a sound, the gap widened considerably.
Klein raised an eyebrow slightly at the sight, somewhat surprised, because the " The Hanged Man's" opening of the door hadn't made a sound.
He did not doubt the power of an " Ocean Songster," but he did not believe that the two stone doors were not in contact with the ground.
Klein looked down and saw a pool of rather viscous liquid in the gap at the bottom of the door.
He quietly created a lubricating effect... Mr. The Hanged Man is very meticulous... Is this the ability of the " Navigator " or the " Ocean Songster "? Hmm, he should also be able to use the ability of the " Wind-blessed " to create an "air cushion," so the " Door Opening " just now was silent... Klein roughly understood the reason.
He approached the stone door, not rushing in, but peering through the wide gap to observe the scene inside.
What came into the " Wraith's " view was the side area, where a row of gray-white stone coffins were placed.
It really is an underground burial chamber... Whether it's combined with a temple is still unknown... Klein thought to himself as he pulled out " Lemano's Travel Notes " with his left hand, which contained extraordinary abilities suitable for dealing with things related to the realm of death.
At the same time, he quickly created Wall of Spirituality with his silver dagger, sealing the iron cigarette case to prevent the Azik Copper Whistle inside from causing the sleeping dead to rise one by one.
Alger also drew his short blade again, covered his left palm with it, and slid it forward slightly.
A soft crackling sound rang out as the short blade became entangled with menacing, silvery-white lightning bolts.
The two quickly completed their preparations, and Klein, Acting the role of the mad adventurer Gehrman Sparrow, went first through the crack in the door into the burial chamber.
Of course, before he went in, the " Wraith " Senor had already circled half of the burial hall as a "sentinel".
For a " Marionettist," having Marionette means they don't have to take risks in many things!
The burial chamber was damp due to seepage of liquid. It was divided into two parts, left and right, each containing twelve dark gray stone coffins. In the center was an empty circular area, and the corresponding floor seemed to contain an exquisite and intricate painting.
Klein did not approach, and raised his hand to stop Alger, then Manipulation the " Wraith " Senor to appear, quickly floating into the air above the circular area.
" Admiral of Blood..." Alger's facial muscles twitched suddenly.
Although he had suspected it beforehand, seeing it with his own eyes still made it difficult to control his subconscious reaction.
At this point, Senor lowered his altitude and could clearly see what was depicted on the ground in the central area:
The painting was dark in tone, with blurry figures in the background and a long table as the main subject.
Lying on the long table is a figure bearing Radiant Cross, surrounded by three figures shrouded in shadow.
One was handsome and energetic, another was dignified and imposing, and the third had a white beard and appeared very Wisdom, yet all three pairs of eyes exuded an inexplicable sinister aura, as did their behavior:
One of them tore off the figure's arm and stuffed it into his mouth, biting until his mouth was full of blood; another held up the head and sucked out the brains; and a third dug out the still-beating heart and gnawed on it hungrily.
Opposite them, in the chest and abdomen of that figure, a long and wide gash revealed a sinister, dark-skinned infant sitting cross-legged, chewing on a piece of intestine, from which blood dripped.
The four seemed to sense that someone was spying on them, and their gazes simultaneously turned upwards, as if they were watching every living being who saw the painting!
