Ch. 41The scent of blood

Ye Chen revealed himself as a Quasi-Emperor to save Ye Tian and accepted Tian Yuanzi’s invitation to the Heavenly Origin Holy Land, where Ye Tian would take its entrance assessment. After sensing a faint, deliberately concealed scent of blood inside the holy land, Ye Chen suspected it was hiding a secret.

  • Ye Chen appeared to stop Tian Yuanzi from killing Ye Tian, and Tian Yuanzi, Elder Wan, and the Zhang Clan were shocked to learn he was a Quasi-Emperor.
  • Ye Tian felt delighted and grateful to see Ye Chen again, while Tian Yuanzi apologized and Ye Chen let the conflict end without punishment.
  • Tian Yuanzi invited Ye Chen to the Heavenly Origin Holy Land, and Ye Chen agreed while confirming that Ye Tian would take its entrance assessment.
  • Tian Yuanzi arranged for the assessment to begin the next day and escorted Ye Chen into the holy land with Elder Wan.
  • Ye Chen detected a faint scent of blood inside the holy land and suspected that its people were concealing something.

Ch. 42The Presence of a Great Emperor

Wan Kong, the Holy Lord of the Myriad Origins Holy Land, traced Elder Nan’s death to the Breeze Sect ruins and went to investigate the Ye Lineage. When he tried to seize the lineage’s two demonic beasts, Ye Xuan activated the puppet left by Ye Chen, releasing the presence of a Great Emperor.

  • Wan Kong examined the Dao traces at the Breeze Sect ruins and confirmed that Elder Nan had died there.
  • Wan Kong arrived unseen in Clearwater Town and discovered that the Ye Lineage was guarded by a Primordial Demon Lightning Ape and a Black Qilin.
  • Wan Kong released his Great Saint Realm pressure and questioned the two beasts, but they gave him evasive answers.
  • Wan Kong attacked the beasts, while the weakened Black Qilin tried to flee and the Demon Lightning Ape’s strike was crushed.
  • Ye Xuan remembered Ye Chen’s puppet, fed it supreme-grade spirit stones, and unleashed a presence that all the Eastern Domain recognized as belonging to a Great Emperor.

Ch. 43The assessment began

Wan Kong fled after discovering that the Ye Lineage was protected by a powerful puppet, then headed for the Heavenly Origin Holy Land. There, Ye Chen watched the holy land’s recruitment assessment begin and wondered why Tian Yuanzi was admitting candidates on such a massive scale.

  • Wan Kong mistook the puppet Ye Chen had left with the Ye Lineage for a Great Emperor and pleaded for his life until Ye Xuan ordered it not to attack.
  • Wan Kong claimed the Ye Lineage had nothing to do with his missing elder’s death, then fled and decided to report the puppet to the grand elder at the Heavenly Origin Holy Land.
  • At the Heavenly Origin Holy Land, Tian Yuanzi and Elder Wan watched nearly a million candidates gather for the disciple assessment while Ye Chen questioned the purpose of recruiting so many people.
  • The secret realm trial began, and Ye Tian rushed among the leading candidates toward the entrance, eager to join the Heavenly Origin Holy Land.

Ch. 44Something Strange

Ye Tian survived the first two entrance examinations, placing fourth in the first and surviving a deadly comprehension trial in the second. As the final examination began, Ye Chen secretly discovered the carnage inside the trials, while Tian Yuanzi defended the high death toll.

  • Elder Wan and Tian Yuanzi praised Ye Tian and discussed betting on who would reach the finish line first, but Elder Wan dropped the wager when Tian Yuanzi immediately chose Ye Tian.
  • Ye Tian placed fourth in the first examination and resolved to continue toward the sacred mountain despite the deaths in the secret realm.
  • In the comprehension examination, Ye Tian avoided the brightest martial-technique lights, which killed many participants, and chose a less-contested light to study.
  • After the second examination, Ye Chen used his divine sense to discover the immense number of mangled remains inside the trials, while Tian Yuanzi dismissed the casualties as necessary sacrifices.
  • The third and final examination began, and Ye Tian hoped that passing it would let him enter the holy land and avenge his parents and the villagers.

Ch. 45A Surviving Remnant of the Ye Lineage

Ye Tian survived the final battle-royale trial and was chosen as a disciple by a Heavenly Origin Holy Land inner sect elder. When the elder revealed his face, Ye Tian recognized him as the man who had massacred Ye Lineage Village, and the elder realized Ye Tian was a surviving remnant of the Ye Lineage.

  • The final trial sent groups of more than a thousand disciples into secret realms, where only fifty from each group could survive.
  • Elder Wan grew uneasy about the bloody trial and the Heavenly Origin Holy Land's strange quiet, while Ye Chen knew the holy land was collecting the disciples' flesh and blood for a demonic art.
  • After half a day of slaughter, the survivors returned to the outer sect plaza, and ten inner sect elders selected disciples, including Ye Tian.
  • Ye Tian eagerly accepted an inner sect elder's offer to become his disciple, then froze when the elder revealed a face he recognized.
  • Ye Tian accused the elder of killing his family and everyone in Ye Lineage Village a year and a half earlier, and the elder realized he was a surviving remnant of the Ye Lineage.

Ch. 46My surname is Ye too

Ye Tian confronted the inner sect elder over the slaughter of the Ye Lineage, then collapsed as memories of the past overwhelmed him. Tian Yuanzi persuaded Elder Wan to help him pursue a blood-sacrifice method and target Ye Chen, until Ye Chen appeared and revealed that his surname was Ye too.

  • Ye Tian told the inner sect elder that he had survived the massacre of the Ye Lineage and demanded to know why the Ye surname was treated as a sin.
  • The inner sect elder declared that the Ye Lineage had stolen something a hundred thousand years earlier and that this was the reason its descendants were killed.
  • Ye Tian was overcome by the rain and his painful memories, and he seemed to glimpse a white-clad figure before collapsing.
  • Tian Yuanzi told Elder Wan about the Blood Refining Devil Emperor's method and asked him to help use it; Elder Wan reluctantly agreed.
  • Ye Chen arrived at the outer sect plaza carrying Ye Tian, unleashed a devastating presence that destroyed the surrounding buildings, and declared that his surname was Ye too.

Ch. 47Slaying devils with a single strike

Ye Chen revealed his Ye surname and confronted the Heavenly Origin Holy Land’s leaders, who activated the Devil Domain Blood Refining Formation to consume him. He remained untouched and answered their empowered Devil Creatures with a single swing of the Demon Slayer Immortal Sword.

  • Ye Chen killed the inner sect elder after declaring that he also bore the Ye surname, then confronted Tian Yuanzi and Elder Wan.
  • Tian Yuanzi threatened to take Ye Chen’s flesh and blood as the Devil Domain Blood Refining Formation engulfed the holy land and dissolved everyone inside except Ye Chen.
  • Tian Yuanzi, Elder Wan, and the Heavenly Origin Holy Lord drew power from the formation, raising their cultivation and summoning Devil Creatures to attack Ye Chen.
  • Ye Chen manifested the Demon Slayer Immortal Sword, whose power dispersed the blood mist and destroyed the Devil Creatures, disrupting the formation.
  • The three leaders used forbidden arts to intensify the formation and summon millions of Devil Creatures, including ten nearing the Quasi-Emperor level.
  • Ye Chen dismissed their efforts as no match for his sword and swung it once to slay the devils.

Ch. 48Two Saints Fall, a Holy Lord Arrives

Ye Chen destroyed the formation and killed the Heavenly Origin Holy Lord, then learned from his memories and confronted Elder Wan. The Myriad Origins Holy Lord withdrew after realizing Ye Chen belonged to the Ye Lineage, leaving Ye Chen to face Tian Yuanzi and anticipate his escape trick.

  • Ye Chen shattered the formation with a sword strike, severely injuring Tian Yuanzi, Elder Wan, and the Heavenly Origin Holy Lord.
  • The Heavenly Origin Holy Lord begged for mercy and blamed Tian Yuanzi, but Ye Chen rejected him, searched his mind, and killed him.
  • Tian Yuanzi secretly promised Elder Wan a way to escape if Elder Wan could hold Ye Chen off for one breath, and Elder Wan agreed.
  • The Myriad Origins Holy Lord arrived, found Elder Wan dead, and learned Ye Chen was from the Ye Lineage.
  • The Myriad Origins Holy Lord disavowed Elder Wan's actions and left, while Ye Chen decided the Myriad Origins Holy Land would be his next stop.
  • Ye Chen turned back to Tian Yuanzi, suspecting him of another trick and waiting to see what he would do.

Ch. 49Blood Refining Devil Emperor

Tian Yuanzi awakened the Blood Refining Devil Emperor, who attacked Ye Chen after learning he belonged to the Ye Lineage. Ye Chen annihilated the Devil Emperor, destroyed the Heavenly Origin Holy Land, and headed for Heavenly Origin Holy City as ancient experts sensed a Great Emperor’s power.

  • Tian Yuanzi refined flesh, blood, and corpses to reach the Quasi-Emperor realm, but the Blood Refining Devil Emperor awakened within his divine sense and took over his body.
  • The Blood Refining Devil Emperor learned that Ye Ming had been dead for a hundred thousand years and vowed to make the Ye Lineage pay.
  • Ye Chen revealed that he belonged to the Ye Lineage, and the Blood Refining Devil Emperor attacked him.

  • Ye Chen headed toward Heavenly Origin Holy City while ancient beings across Heavenly Profound Continent sensed the Great Emperor’s power.

Ch. 50Returning to the Ye Lineage

Ye Chen brought Ye Tian and Holy City's city lord back to the Ye Lineage and prepared to strengthen the lineage with resources and a transformation. While surveying the Eastern Domain for treasures, he found a mature top-grade spirit vein, whose mysterious guardian confronted him.

  • Ye Chen healed Ye Tian, spared Holy City's city lord because he had opposed harming people surnamed Ye, and invited him to become a Ye Lineage steward.
  • Holy City's city lord accepted Ye Chen's offer, and Ye Chen took him and Ye Tian back to the Ye Lineage.
  • Ye Chen reviewed his system rewards, including spirit stones, cultivation techniques, martial skills, pills, and saint medicines, and judged that the lineage still needed more.
  • Ye Chen spread his divine sense across the Eastern Domain, alarming powerful beings in secret realms and ancient ruins.
  • Ye Chen discovered a mature top-grade spirit vein beneath Holy Province and reached for it, prompting a figure inside it to emerge and challenge him.
