After returning home and taking on cases involving a gambling ghost and Huang Qingyun, Wang and his companions discovered Black Yao members carrying a red coffin near Huang's residence.

• Wang Qilin began work at the Heaven-Listening Bureau, investigated the Zhang family clinic with Xu Da, and killed the qi-eating ghost with a saber refined by the Creation Furnace.

Wang Qilin and his companions faced hauntings at General Huang’s estate, then uncovered a creature using paintings to prey on Foolhardy. After the Furnace of Creation refined new treasures, Wang Qilin traveled to Auspicious County, where his colleagues began discussing a possible exchange of help with Dong Jihu.

• Wang Qilin, Xu Da, and Xie Hama exposed the Mountain Puppets around the coffin and helped Huang Huaji investigate the ghost haunting Huang Qingyun, but Huang Qingyun’s dreams led them to the secret beneath Wuji Pagoda.
• Wang Qilin entered Wuji Pagoda with Xie Hama, exposed the dead deputy general possessing Huang Huaji, and destroyed the yin soul as Huang Huaji revealed that the yin road had closed.
• Wang Qilin and Xie Hama investigated Zhang Yuning’s clinic and discovered that the Joined Half-Skulls had sealed Zhang Yuning and likely Foolhardy inside paintings.
• Wang Qilin learned that the Furnace of Creation had refined the Lin Syllable Mantra and a Hayagriva Vidyaraja diagram, then cut Xiang Wei’s whip when he threatened Heidou.
