Background / History
Previous Life and Rebirth
Liu Wuxie was one of the ten great Immortal Emperors of the Soaring Cloud Immortal Realm. After obtaining the primordial Heaven-Devouring Divine Cauldron, he was attacked by the immortal realm and cornered at Soul-Severing Cliff. He used the Blood Demon Disintegration Technique to perish together with his attackers, shattering the cauldron in the process 1.
He awakened beneath the wreckage of a brothel on the True Martial Continent, occupying the body of another Liu Wuxie. The cauldron had survived within his new Dantian. Its black Qi subsequently manifested the ancient script containing the Grand Desolation Heaven-Devouring Instruction 1 2.
The Original Liu Wuxie
The original owner came from a wealthy family, but his parents mysteriously disappeared when he was five. Xu Yilin, his father’s close friend, adopted him and eventually honored a marriage agreement between their families. Despite this support, the boy became withdrawn, domineering, and wasteful, even suspecting Xu Yilin of coveting his family assets 1.
On his wedding night, Xu Lingxue drove him out of the bridal chamber. Disreputable friends then encouraged him to visit a brothel, where he went berserk and caused a fire. The reborn Liu Wuxie discovered that the original owner had actually been killed by a palm strike to his heart meridians; later evidence suggested Hallucinogenic Powder had been used in the trap 1 6.
The two Liu Wuxies’ memories and feelings merged, including the original owner’s feelings toward Xu Lingxue 13.
Appearance
Liu Wuxie has a slender build and handsome features, commonly appearing in blue robes 3 41.
- Eyes: Clear eyes compared to azure gemstones; Xu Lingxue later describes his gaze as wise and filled with untold stories 13 14.
- Facial features: Swordlike eyebrows, a high nose, and slightly upturned lips 41 43.
- Clothing: Initially wears a plain blue robe washed pale 3.
- During prolonged cultivation: Can neglect his appearance entirely; after three sleepless days of cultivation and pill refining, his hair resembles a bird’s nest and his body is filthy 25.
Personality
Liu Wuxie retains an Immortal Emperor’s pride and composure. He often ignores ridicule rather than argue with people he considers beneath his notice, and conceals his cultivation while investigating hidden enemies. He also refuses to sacrifice his long-term foundation for a momentary advantage, preferring to perfect each layer before advancing 3 14 16 41.
His strongest loyalty is to the Xu Household, especially Xu Yilin. Having lived alone in his previous life, he treasures the unfamiliar warmth of family and resolves to protect it. His ambition is to make the Xu Household the greatest lineage in the Great Yan Imperial Dynasty before pursuing immortality without worry 2 13 36.
His restraint has limits. He mutilates enemies to obtain information and uses severe interrogation techniques against trained soldiers. Yet he can also forgive an apology, spare opponents for a friend’s sake, or deliberately avoid killing when further conflict would endanger the Xu Household 12 13 26 32 37.

- Deliberately withholds a complete cure to prevent Master Huo from turning against him 5.
- Restores his own damaged heart meridians through pills and careful soul-force control 28 29.
Artifact Refining and Formations
His technical knowledge allows him to repair the Xu Household’s commercial weaknesses and negotiate with other lineages 11 33.
- Forges meteoric iron through repeated refining and carves Spirit Inscriptions to give a weapon spirituality 10.
- Transfers forging techniques to Hu Shi through seals placed within a drop of essence blood 11.
- Identifies a counterfeit Xu Household saber through its resonance and proves its origin by comparing molten weapon materials 12 13.
