The space's resentment was rather pleased too. Its master really was having good luck today.
But when it heard her say she wanted to tame this wild horse, it could not help reminding her, "Isn't this thing impossible to tame?"
"Mongolian wild horses have always been hard to tame, so I'm not planning to tame it. I'm going to lure it. Hehe, I'm such a genius!"
As Yun Manman laughed, her smile froze on her face. Had she spent all that time waiting by a stump for beasts, only to come up empty again?
She could not even sell the prey already in her hands. Why was earning a little silver in this ancient era so hard?
Her gaze shifted to the top-heavy-looking sheep beside it. It had a pair of long, inward-curving, ring-shaped horns and relatively short, thick limbs. This was a northwestern argali, a true mountain goat,
and a nationally protected Class II animal.
"As for this northwestern mountain sheep, I'm going to take it home and raise it. Once it has enough lambs, I'll start slaughtering them for hot..."
The space's resentment silently said nothing, only sneaking a glance at its own territory, its feelings difficult to put into words.
Yun Manman had barely spoken, thinking about the hot pot she could eat in the future, when the joy on her face abruptly paused. Where could she put this sheep in that shabby courtyard of hers?
To raise sheep now, she needed to build a house first, and to build a house, she needed silver first.
Yun Manman gritted her teeth. Tonight, I'm going to hunt this entire mountain forest from end to end.
Whether it smells sweet or stinks, I'll kill it all and trade it for silver!
"Guagua, if I charge into this herd of horses and sheep now, can I bring them all into the space at once?"
The space's resentment was stunned by Yun Manman's idea, then wondered whether the space could actually be used like that.
"Why don't you try?"
Yun Manman got ready and picked her spot. She could neither beat nor kill these creatures, so this was the safest and quickest method.
The grazing horses and sheep sensed a figure flash across their vision. Before they could see it clearly, the scene before them changed. Equine and ovine eyes widened. Where had their lush green grassland gone?
In an excellent mood, Yun Manman picked some returning lotus fruit and quickly swept it past the wild horse's nose. Watching its bewildered eyes light up, she curled her lips. She had succeeded.
Watching the horse's head sway back and forth in front of her, Yun Manman crouched and stroked its prickly head, her voice carrying a coaxing note.
"Be a good boy and serve as my mount from now on. I can't give you enough of this good stuff to fill your belly, but one a day won't be a problem. Blink if you agree!"
The wild horse curled its tongue, trying to nuzzle Yun Manman's hand. Something it liked was there, something irresistibly tempting and delicious, as though eating it could turn it into a horse immortal.
Watching the wild horse nuzzle her anxiously, Yun Manman reached out a finger and quickly jabbed toward its eye. The horse blinked several times.
A sly look of triumph appeared on Yun Manman's face. "Since you've agreed, we're going to be inseparable partners from now on. No going back on your word!"
The northwestern mountain sheep received no such benefits. Yun Manman put down a few handfuls of wild greens. "Eat if you're hungry. If you're thirsty, bear with it for now."
Yun Manman flashed out of the space and walked deeper into the mountains toward the setting sun. Many wild beasts liked to be active at night, so she needed to find another place to catch them.
Just then, Guagua's aggrieved voice rang out. "Master, I don't even have anywhere to lie flat anymore. Hurry up and go kill someone. The space is impossible to look at now!"
Yun Manman rolled her eyes inwardly. Where did a cloud of gas get eyes? Still, she chose to stroke its fur with her words.
"Where am I supposed to find someone to kill out in these desolate mountains? I already have an idea for upgrading the space. Just make do and look at it for now. Be good!"
The sky gradually darkened.
Fortunately, the moon was bright that night. Yun Manman stiffly straightened her slender waist, which she had bent 888 times that day.
Then the scene before her left her awestruck. Bathed in moonlight, the valley wore a veil of white gauze.
Trees stood everywhere she looked, lush grass flourished, and the fragrance of flowers, grass, and trees wafted toward her through the air.
Spring water trickled down the valley's cliff face, spilling into a natural spring pool on the level ground below, where wisps of mist rose.
Yun Manman approached and bent over the crystal-clear spring water. Testing it with her hand, she found that it maintained a constant temperature.
Yun Manman stripped in a few swift movements and leaped into the spring pool, scattering little splashes.
"This is absolutely perfect. I haven't had a soak in ages. I'm going to come here often!"
"Master, isn't stripping right in front of me a little too unconcerned with propriety?"
Yun Manman had her eyes closed, enjoying this rare moment of relaxation. At the space's resentment's words, the corners of her mouth twitched.
"Then what are you? A man? Neither male nor female? Go on, transform and let me see!"
Feeling terribly wronged, the space's resentment twisted itself into the shape of a sun and drifted back and forth before Yun Manman.
"I really can't do that. Even when I finish upgrading, I'll only be a fierce little cutie of a pet at most. Sigh... just how do I have to cultivate to become the way you like?"
Looking at that white sun, Yun Manman felt that the gas had grown denser. She could almost sense the energy it carried.
"Guagua, why are you such a drama queen?"
"You're a steel-rebar straight woman, aren't you? This is how you kill a conversation. Hmph, be lonely all by yourself. I'm not keeping you company anymore!"
Yun Manman watched the gas disappear, her skin translucent as jade, her pale violet eyes gradually deepening.
As though remembering something, she slowly closed her eyes, but a cool arc curved her lips.
Her entire presence seemed unapproachable, yet she was also like a goddess of the Nine Heavens descended into the mortal world, making people want to submit.
Pleasant insect calls mingled through the valley. Only the moon suspended in the sky quietly admired the beauty in the water.
After a long while, a light, cool, melodious voice rang out, without a trace of emotion.
"Solitude has always been my normal state. Only when I'm strong enough will solitude become small and dispensable."
The space's resentment had not actually entered the space just now, but had flashed behind Yun Manman instead.
It had wanted to keep her company quietly, never expecting to hear her murmured words.
Though it had no heart, an indescribable feeling inexplicably rose within the space's resentment. Just what had this woman experienced in her previous life?
What had made her such a contradictory woman, ignorant of worldly affairs yet able to see through them, wise, calm, and clever, yet innocent, bewildered, and adorable?
"Awooo... awooo, awooo, awooo..."
Just as Yun Manman was about to fall asleep, urgent wolf howls rang out, followed by tiger roars from every direction.
Yun Manman's gaze instantly sharpened. Using what meager lightness skill she currently possessed, she flew out of the spring pool and put on her clothes.
Turning toward the source of the sounds, Yun Manman finally made out the situation nearby in the bright moonlight.
Two wounded wolves were surrounded by six tigers. Every tiger was fierce and imposing; clearly, the two wolves were no match for them.
By moonlight, Yun Manman could clearly see that one wolf had bite wounds on both its neck and abdomen, and was bleeding continuously.
Yet that wolf's eyes remained resolute and ferocious, without the slightest intention of retreating.
Its entire body shielded the wolf behind it. The wolf behind it was bleeding only from its neck, but its belly bulged high.
Yun Manman was a little surprised. Was this she-wolf pregnant?
Both wolves had silver-gray fur, tall, lean bodies, and coffee-colored eyes. Yun Manman raised an eyebrow. They were actually northwestern wolves!
Northwestern wolves were steadfast and never retreated, intelligent and united, skilled at fighting as a team.
Just as Yun Manman was observing the she-wolf, it seemed to notice the gaze nearby.
Its coffee-colored eyes were initially fierce, but when it saw that it was not a lion, its gaze changed, carrying a plea and a faint glimmer of tears.
Looking into those wolf eyes, Yun Manman froze slightly. Was it asking her for help?
Presumably, it was for the wolf pups in its belly. Otherwise, a proud creature like a northwestern wolf would rather die fighting than bow its head and beg for help, wouldn't it?
Yun Manman turned her gaze toward the six tigers. Their coats were white and yellow all over, and they growled at her.
One of the smaller tigers opened its jaws at Yun Manman and charged.
The other five tigers still warily surrounded the two wolves. Yun Manman gave a soft snort, sweeping her gaze over those ferocious tigers.
