How can we stop the train?
Zhang Tianyuan and Cheng Wanli have moved to a holographic display platform.
This holographic display is a product of Pacific Rim Spacetime. It is connected to a supercomputer that can calculate and simulate various events based on the input data and requirements.
Previously in mecha bases, these holographic displays were often used for real-time simulations of wormholes and mecha.
At this moment, on the display panel is a railway track, and on the track is an extremely long train, which is moving forward at high speed.
This is the Snowpiercer in Wilford.
The relevant parameters have been input into the supercomputer, and now the simulation is of the various scenarios that will occur when the train is stopped.
However, all simulation results were far from ideal.
The first simulation involved stringing together the heaviest trains in South America and then ramming them behind the Snowpiercer. As a result, the train increased its power until the trailing trains braked so hard they derailed, but the Snowpiercer remained unharmed.
The second one was a simulated controlled derailment.
The result was that a kilometer-long train was crammed into a space of only a few hundred meters, causing not only the death of more than 99% of the people on board, but also the leakage of nuclear material.
The third time, the fourth time...
All proposed solutions were quickly rejected within half an hour.
The tactic of using domestic heavy-haul trains to slow down the Snowpiercer was successful.
Unfortunately, the people on the train probably can't wait five months.
Moreover, in further simulations, this approach still failed.
Zhang Tianyuan originally planned to build a temporary railway connecting Snowpiercer Spacetime to Interstellar Spacetime, and then back to South America in Snowpiercer Spacetime, connecting it with Wilford's line.
This way, heavy-haul trains can be sent directly to South America.
There's no need to go around the eastern part of Americas anymore.
However, the Snowpiercer's average speed of 50 kilometers per hour does not mean that its maximum speed is only 50 kilometers per hour.
As a nuclear-powered train, the Snowpiercer's speed limit is definitely higher than that of a heavy-haul train, and much higher.
Therefore, while a heavy-haul train can indeed slow down the Snowpiercer, bringing it to a standstill, it is actually very, very difficult for a heavy-haul train to catch up with it...
"Even if the trains don't have an accident in South America, they will definitely have one when they travel north and cross the coastal railway of western North America."
Back in North America, if those behind-the-scenes manipulators wanted to sabotage a railroad, it would be a piece of cake.
Maybe the North America lines have already been dismantled.
Looking at all the rejected proposals compiled so far, Zhang Tianyuan summarized. "What we need now is something of sufficient mass to drag things out."
"I'd like to stay on the Snowpiercer, and ideally, it should also have some degree of mobility..."
Wang Lei suggested using their time-space stone transport vehicles.
That thing weighs a full 3,000 tons when fully loaded, and can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour on flat ground, so just four of them can weigh the same as a train.
The problem is that the stone-carrying carts are completely out of step with this time and space, and even in the city, it is difficult to find roads that can accommodate them.
Not to mention that around the uneven railway tracks, the stone-carrying carts had no space to move at all.
Furthermore, holographic simulation also disagrees with this proposal.
The Snowpiercer weighs 12,000 tons, but that doesn't mean it can be held up by a mass of only 12,000 tons.
Don't forget, it's traveling at 50 kilometers per hour on the tracks. Even if four more stone-carrying cars came, let alone four, they would still be in trouble.
Furthermore, an increase in the number of stone-carrying wagons would cause the train's center of gravity to shift, drastically increasing the risk of derailment...
Instructor Yin stroked his chin and said authoritatively, "How's the mecha?"
" Pangu..."
Zhang Tianyuan paused for a moment, then shook his head. "The mech's center of gravity is too high, and even the Pangu only weighs a little over four thousand tons."
Having personally piloted the Pangu, he had no doubt about the mech's power. Even the 12,000-ton Snowpiercer could be easily lifted by the Pangu and used as nunchucks.
But this doesn't mean the Pangu can be used to intercept trains...
Theoretically speaking, it would be better to send the stone-carrying vehicle, which is 156 meters tall, to stop the Snowpiercer than to send this behemoth.
It's impossible for the Pangu to actually catch up with the train in three quick steps, then bend down, extend two large fingers, and pick up the entire train from the ground...
Zhang Tianyuan covered his forehead at the thought of that scene.
Instructor Yin smiled and said, "I recently saw a report from the Moyulan Base in No. 4 Spacetime. A new weapon they were researching has been successfully put into production and tested on the Pangu."
Zhang Tianyuan hadn't seen the report and asked, "What kind of weapon is it?"
"It's a top-secret weapon known as the ' Gravity Sling '."
Zhang Tianyuan immediately recalled that it must be the weapon that Gipsy Avenger carried on his right hand in the second movie. It could attract cars on the ground to gather into a ball, and then swing it out like a whip. It could also be used directly on buildings, and its powerful attraction could easily tear buildings apart.
"You mean, use this weapon to suck the train up?"
Instructor Yin said somewhat uncertainly
"I've seen a demonstration of that weapon. If it were installed on the feet of the Pangu, the resulting attraction might be enough to hold the train in place."
"Then let's ask."
Zhang Tianyuan quickly connected with Mako Mori via spacetime communication; no one knew the situation at the Moyulan Base better than her.
After hearing about the current situation, Mako Mori immediately gave a reply, " The Gravity Sling has been under research since the monster invasion began. Although it is only the first generation version at present, it is actually quite mature."
"As long as the power output is adjusted correctly and the target is the train you mentioned, it will definitely significantly increase the mech's gravitational pull on the train's rear, thereby reducing the train's speed..."
Can it work?!
Zhang Tianyuan was caught off guard and didn't react for a moment.
How does Mori Mako actually think it's possible for a mecha to stop a train?
"Last month, the Pangu's operating system was upgraded and now supports single-player and three-player operation modes. The Wei Brothers are already familiar with the mech's piloting mode."
Mako Mori continued to elaborate on other details, "I will arrange the modification work on the Pangu immediately. Currently, the Gravity Sling projector is installed on the Pangu's hand, but in just one hour, we will be able to move it to the ankle."
The Pangu has nothing extra, except for a lot of internal installation slots.
Zhang Tianyuan suddenly remembered this characteristic of the Pangu.
Big is beautiful, big is good.
With so much space inside, there's bound to be room for all sorts of equipment.
Since Mako Mori has said it can be done, Zhang Tianyuan decided not to delay any longer. "Go arrange the modifications first, and send me the specific data while you're at it. I'll have someone do a calculation simulation..."
"Etc."
Zhang Tianyuan suddenly stopped speaking.
He recalled something odd about what Mako Mori:
"You just said that the Gravity Sling enhances gravity?"
"It's not attraction, it's not magnetism, it's gravity?"
------Aside------
Although the Gravity Sling looks like it works with magnetism, in the official novel it is described as a weapon that can manipulate gravity. When Mako Mori's helicopter crashed, Gipsy Avenger tried to grab the helicopter directly with the Gravity Sling, but because it had just been used and was cooling down, it failed.
In the prequel (which should have taken place between the first and second movies, though I haven't looked into it closely), this thing could even be projected from the sea onto a deep-sea cliff, and then the mech could be pulled over there.
This thing is clearly quite strong and highly controllable; it could even be used to save lives...
