Guo Xiaoyun did not really understand any of this either.
But he did know these pills were good for him.
Since they were good for him, he naturally ought to accept them.
"Thank you."
Guo Xiaoyun spoke politely.
Seeing Guo Xiaoyun accept the pills, Gongsun Yue breathed a sigh of relief inwardly.
It seemed this disciple of Ye Qingyun's was quite easy to talk to as well.
He just looked rather dim-witted, and seemed to be a mortal too.
But after the embarrassment of underestimating Ye Qingyun earlier, Gongsun Yue did not dare actually assume Guo Xiaoyun was a mortal.
Perhaps this disciple hid his abilities just as deeply as his master did.
"Come in and have a seat."
"Yes, yes, of course."
Gongsun Yue and Bai Suyi entered the courtyard.
Guo Xiaoyun courteously brewed them a pot of tea and poured each of them a cup.
Gongsun Yue picked up his cup and was just about to drink.
But he saw that the tea was emerald green, with wisps of incomparably pure Spiritual Qi wafting from it.
Gongsun Yue's expression changed.
"Spiritual liquid?"
He looked up at Bai Suyi.
She was also holding her teacup, staring blankly at Gongsun Yue.
"Master, could this be an entire cup of spiritual liquid?"
Bai Suyi asked.
Gongsun Yue nodded solemnly.
Bai Suyi immediately sucked in a breath of cold air.
Wasn't this far too extravagant?
They were being served an entire cup of spiritual liquid each?
Gongsun Yue would be fine. With his profound cultivation, drinking this cup of spiritual liquid directly would make his cultivation somewhat more substantial.
But if Bai Suyi drank it, her body would likely be unable to withstand it.
She would risk rupturing her meridians.
"Why aren't you drinking?"
With a gulp, Guo Xiaoyun downed his entire cup of tea.
He had been working all morning and really was a little thirsty.
As he spoke, he poured himself another cup and gulped that down too.
After drinking it, he shouldered his hoe and went off to till the soil as though nothing had happened.
The sight left both master and disciple dumbfounded.
What the fuck?
You could drink spiritual liquid like that?
He had knocked back two cups just like that?
Wasn't he afraid the immense Spiritual Qi contained within the spiritual liquid would burst his body apart?
Never mind a mortal with no cultivation whatsoever.
Even a martial artist at Spirit Opening Great Perfection like Bai Suyi would not dare drink spiritual liquid like that.
"Master, he..."
Bai Suyi was rather dumbfounded.
Gongsun Yue's expression was grave.
"He truly lives up to being that expert's disciple. He must be one of those peerless geniuses rarely seen in the world, with a special constitution that lets him drink spiritual liquid like water."
Bai Suyi was left wide-eyed and tongue-tied.
"Does such a genius truly exist?"
The corner of Gongsun Yue's mouth twitched.
"What other explanation could there be?"
Bai Suyi fell silent.
All of a sudden, she envied Guo Xiaoyun immensely.
No wonder Ye Qingyun had taken him as a disciple. So he was a peerless genius of such extraordinary caliber.
She truly fell far short of him.
Huh?
Why am I comparing myself to him?
There's no need to be jealous of him, is there?
Could it be that deep down, I also long to become Young Master Ye's disciple?
No, no.
I must snuff out this terrible thought.
Bai Suyi cautiously took a small sip of the tea.
Then she dared not drink any more.
Even that tiny sip caused the Spiritual Qi throughout Bai Suyi's body to surge.
Only by continuously circulating her cultivation technique did Bai Suyi manage to absorb that little mouthful of spiritual liquid.
With his profound cultivation, Gongsun Yue drank a full cup.
After that cup, heat rose from Gongsun Yue's entire body, and his eyes became exceptionally bright.
Although my cultivation hasn't broken through, my Spiritual Qi has become thirty percent more substantial than before.
Gongsun Yue was secretly delighted.
He had never expected that this single visit would bring such a fortuitous opportunity.
Just like that, the pot of tea was finished.
Gongsun Yue drank three cups.
It was incredibly satisfying.
Yet even after they waited all the way into the afternoon, Ye Qingyun still had not returned.
This left master and disciple somewhat puzzled.
What could he be buying down the mountain that would take so long?
Guo Xiaoyun was puzzled too.
The market below the mountain was not supposed to be far. A quick round trip would only take four hours.
So why had Ye Qingyun gone out first thing in the morning and still not returned when the sun was almost setting in the west?
Could something have happened to him?
Guo Xiaoyun grew worried.
He looked at Gongsun Yue and his disciple.
"Why don't you two head back first? I need to go down the mountain to look for my master too."
"No trouble, no trouble. Sorry for imposing today. We'll come visit another time."
Gongsun Yue rose as he spoke.
Although they had not seen Ye Qingyun, the trip had not been in vain.
At least they had delivered their gifts.
And they had also established a connection with Ye Qingyun's disciple.
Master and disciple headed down the mountain and left.
Guo Xiaoyun waited a little longer.
Still, Ye Qingyun did not return to the mountain.
He was truly getting anxious.
"Damao, let's go down the mountain and look for him."
"Woof, woof!"
Guo Xiaoyun locked the courtyard gate and headed down the mountain with Damao.
As for Ye Qingyun at that moment...
He had indeed run into some trouble.
He had originally been about to return to Floating Cloud Mountain after finishing his shopping.
But a monk had appeared out of nowhere, repeatedly insisting that he was some Buddhist Holy Son and wanting to take him back to the Buddhist sects of the Western Realm.
This left Ye Qingyun utterly bewildered.
I was minding my own business. I haven't become a monk or worshipped at any temple, so how did I inexplicably become the Buddhist Holy Son?
That title does sound pretty intimidating.
"Benefactor, this humble monk truly is not a swindler."
The monk Huikong stood before Ye Qingyun with his palms pressed together, speaking with an anxious expression.
Ye Qingyun was already on the verge of blowing up.
This monk had pestered him for two whole hours.
From all sorts of Buddhist history to legends of the Buddhist Holy Son, and all the glory and grandeur of Buddhism.
The monk Huikong had prattled on in an endless torrent, without tiring in the slightest.
He had talked until Ye Qingyun's head was spinning.
It was fucking ridiculous.
"Enough!"
Seeing that the monk Huikong was about to start prattling again, Ye Qingyun hurriedly stopped him.
Huikong froze, then lit up with delight.
"Have you decided to return to the Western Zen Ancient Temple with this humble monk, benefactor?"
Ye Qingyun clenched his fists.
He really wanted to give that bald head a punch.
"I'll say this once more, one last time!"
"I am not this Buddhist Holy Son you keep talking about!"
"Stop bringing up all that Buddhist this and that. I don't want to hear it!"
Ye Qingyun practically forced the words out through gritted teeth.
Then he walked past the monk Huikong.
Unexpectedly, the monk Huikong followed him again.
Ye Qingyun was furious.
"Piss off!"
He cursed at the monk Huikong.
Yet the monk Huikong was not angry at all. He even smiled.
"It seems you still do not believe this humble monk, benefactor. Then allow this humble monk to tell you once more about the legend of the Buddhist Holy Son..."
Ye Qingyun took a deep breath.
"You've talked for so long. It's my turn to talk."
Huikong paused. "What would you like to talk about, benefactor?"
"Do you know why I don't want to go with you to those Buddhist sects in the Western Realm?"
"It's because you don't have any true Mahayana Dharma there at all!"
Ye Qingyun declared.
Huikong shook his head repeatedly.
"That's impossible. There are countless Buddhist temples in our Western Realm. How could we have no Mahayana Dharma?"
Ye Qingyun sneered. "Then tell me, what is Mahayana Dharma?"
