Background / History
Huoyao’s Death and the Long Wait
Xiong Ba served the Peak World Lord Huoyao, who was surrounded and attacked by five World Lords. Huoyao killed two attackers but ultimately died, and his spaceship crashed on Proxima Centauri. Xiong Ba remained trapped with his master’s remains and inheritance for 700 million years 8.
Huoyao’s final instructions were to find an outstanding disciple, pass on his secret techniques, and seek revenge if an opportunity arose. Xiong Ba watched his master’s body decay into a skeleton while waiting for a successor. Repeated planetary catastrophes destroyed emerging civilizations before they could develop cultivators capable of discovering him 8 10.
Accepting Chu Yuan
When Chu Yuan discovered the wreck, Xiong Ba initially dismissed the Star Level Second Order warrior as unqualified. Chu Yuan refused the apprenticeship and ordered Feiluan to collect the treasures anyway. Unwilling to lose his first prospective successor in 700 million years, Xiong Ba abandoned his arrogant stance and praised Chu Yuan as a peerless genius 8.
After Chu Yuan accepted Huoyao as his master, Xiong Ba recognized him as Huoyao’s sole personal disciple and undertook his instruction. He withheld the surviving attackers’ identities because Chu Yuan was too weak to confront them 8.
Xiong Ba also refused to surrender all remaining assets, insisting that Huoyao had reserved them for nurturing his disciple rather than reckless spending. He nevertheless supplied Huoyao’s bank account details once Chu Yuan explained that the account would allow him to sell inherited treasures safely 9.
Growing Confidence in His Disciple
Xiong Ba’s opinion improved after testing Chu Yuan’s combat skills, though he still found major weaknesses in his tactics and fundamentals. He supplied a comprehensive training curriculum and began personally guiding his cultivation 11 12.
Chu Yuan’s first domain gave Xiong Ba hope that he might eventually match Huoyao. Later, Xiong Ba judged Chu Yuan’s aptitude for the Fire Origin Law superior to his former master’s and was astonished when he displayed the intent of Illusory Space far earlier than expected 14 34 40.
By the time the thirty-three-year-old Chu Yuan mastered the Flame Void Saber’s Prairie Fire Form, Xiong Ba regarded him as a race-level genius whose talent surpassed Huoyao’s. He renewed his determination to help Chu Yuan grow strong enough to avenge his master 50.
Appearance
- Bear form: Appears as a large bear with furry fingers and paws 8 11 50.
- Expressive face: Displays humanlike anger, grief, pride, and surprise; sheds tears while recalling Huoyao’s death 8.
- Characteristic gestures: Often folds his arms, raises his chin, or places his hands on his hips 8 14.
- Movement: Can float and fly, and frequently sits on Chu Yuan’s shoulder 11 14 17.
Personality
Xiong Ba’s loyalty to Huoyao survives 700 million years of separation. He fiercely defends his master’s dignity, rebukes a bodyguard for suggesting that a dead master is preferable, and protects the inheritance from what he considers wasteful use. His grief remains close to the surface whenever he discusses Huoyao or the Shaluo Flower that died alongside him 8 9 16.
Proud and sharp-tongued, he initially belittles Chu Yuan and frequently tempers praise with warnings against complacency. Nevertheless, he openly revises his assessment as Chu Yuan improves: his early contempt becomes guarded approval, then confidence in his disciple’s exceptional potential 8 11 14 34 50.
His caution extends beyond cultivation. He warns Chu Yuan about the expense of raising Star-Eating Grass, the difficulty of killing Domain Lords, and the danger of retaliation after Modu’s death 17 35 37.
Abilities & Skills
Inheritance Preservation and Instruction
Xiong Ba retains Huoyao’s secret techniques and recordings of his cultivation, allowing him to teach on his deceased master’s behalf 8.
- Provides instruction in force application, physical toughness, Spiritual Force, movement, saber techniques, combat, consciousness training, and illusions 12.
- Supplies Fire Radiance, Huoyao’s personally created secret technique, and Illusory Space, a spatial technique used among World Lords 12.
- Explains the path from a Fire Domain toward the Fire Origin Law, while identifying the Space Origin Law as a much harder higher law to comprehend 12.
- His personal guidance makes Domain Lord lectures unnecessary for Chu Yuan 34.
Combat Assessment
Xiong Ba uses the Virtual Universe’s Killing Field to test Chu Yuan against ten warriors and ten spirit readers of the same level 11.
- Identifies reckless engagement, failure to account for coordinated enemies, and insufficient real combat experience 11.
- Estimates Chu Yuan’s force multiplier at approximately eighteen and contrasts it with the thirty-to-fiftyfold application achievable by stronger Star Level geniuses 11.
- Emphasizes survival and tactical judgment rather than aggression alone 11.
Equipment and Strategic Advice
- Recommends the Flame Void Saber because its fire and space attributes suit Chu Yuan’s intended cultivation path, while warning that its power requires sufficient skill 33.
- Explains that joining a powerful faction provides access to restricted treasures and, crucially, protection through powerful backing 14.
- Advises pursuing every tracker-bearing decoy because any group might carry stolen treasures that could be sold 36.
- Anticipates retaliation from Modu’s brother Elijah after Modu is killed 37.
Relationships
- World Lord Huoyao — Deceased master and the source of his name. Preserving Huoyao’s legacy and securing revenge remain his central commitments 8 9 50.
- Chu Yuan — Huoyao’s sole personal disciple and Xiong Ba’s student. Their relationship develops from a contentious inheritance negotiation into sustained mentorship and growing mutual confidence 8 11 34 50.
- Feiluan — Fellow intelligent-life companion in Chu Yuan’s party. She greets him by jumping onto his head; the two later congratulate and advise Chu Yuan together 8 14 50.
