Jiang Jie raised an eyebrow.
Meryl was right; he was actually far from calm and was extremely nervous.
How could he not be nervous facing these two guys?
Med'an is one thing.
Years ago, Medivh infused a portion of his own essence, along with some of the power belonging to the Guardian of Tirisfal, into the body of the Orcs Legendary assassin " Garona," who later gave birth to Med'an Garona.
Garona was still bound by the Shadow Council's magical contract at the time, and had to serve the Shadow Council. Unable to take care of Med'an, she entrusted Med'an to her good friend, " Meryl Winterstorm," to raise.
Med'an does possess immense power, Legendary- level power, but he is only 16 years old, Meryl Med'an not a qualified teacher. Therefore, Med'an's true combat strength may not reach the Legendary level.
Meryl is different.
2800 years ago, in order to deal with the attack of the Amani Trolls Empire, the High Elf and humans formed an alliance and sent people to teach humans magic. Meryl was one of the humans.
Of the original one hundred human mages, all the others have been lost to the dust of history. Only Meryl, who died in a battle and was then resurrected as Undead, possesses eternal life and has lived to this day.
Even a pig that lives for 2800 years would become a pig demon, let alone a mage who is already exceptionally powerful?
Jiang Jie sensed the energy fluctuations emanating from Meryl, which were low-level Legendary energy fluctuations. This was because his current Undead body could only withstand this level of mana, but it did not mean that his spellcasting ability was also at this level.
Jiang Jie suspected that, excluding equipment bonuses, Meryl might be even more powerful than Antonidas and Kael'thas!
Facing him was like facing Antonidas or Kael'thas head-on, and Jiang Jie really had little confidence.
Fortunately, he wasn't there to fight.
Four questions? That's not a good answer.
Jiang Jie chuckled, then raised his hand. The platinum ring flashed with magical light, and two items appeared in his hands. "Luckily, I brought these two things with me."
Two things: a sword and a key.
When he saw the sword, Meryl's hand trembled involuntarily. Although he recovered quickly, it still showed his inner turmoil.
When he saw the key, Meryl let out a low murmur, almost gasping out.
Finally, he shook his head slightly and sighed, "Come with me, I think we should have a good talk... I've been living in seclusion for many years, and it seems something extraordinary has happened outside!"
Med'an picked up the axe, Meryl carried the chopped firewood. They walked one after the other toward the domed house. Jiang Jie put away the divine sword and the key, then followed with the electric lamp.
However, upon entering the small domed building, he couldn't help but complain, "Is this really a place for humans to live? It looks more like a tomb!"
A Legendary mage destined for the future is chopping wood, while a Legendary mage who has lived for nearly three thousand years is carrying firewood—what's going on here? Are they trying to settle down and live a normal life?
"Sit wherever you like. There's nothing good to eat here. How about some water?" Meryl put down the firewood and pointed to the water vat next to her.
Jiang Jie turned to look at the water vat and noticed it was a bit murky, with dried leaves floating on top. He was speechless again. "Master Meryl, you're a mage, summoning water is a piece of cake... Isn't this a bit unnecessary?"
"A mage? I'd rather live like an ordinary person. This water isn't for me to drink either. Have you ever seen Undead drink water? Med'an's physical condition is better than a giant bear's; drinking this water won't kill him."
Meryl's voice was calm, as calm as a stagnant pool. " Med'an, go chop wood."
"Why? What are you hiding from me? I heard it just now! Humans, Orcs, Draenei, Titans hybrids! He was talking about me! Why can't I hear anything that concerns me?" Med'an was furious and didn't want to leave.
"Adults are talking, kids should go play somewhere else."
With a wave of his hand, Meryl sent Med'an outside, an invisible force sending him flying. Then, with another wave, a magical barrier rose up, preventing Med'an from breaking through or even getting in, no matter how hard he tried. The barrier completely blocked sound!
"Tell me, where did you get those two things? Also, you seem to know Med'an's identity?" Meryl's voice remained as calm as still water.
Jiang Jie suspected that there was probably nothing in this world that could excite this old mage.
A dead person continues to live in this world for nearly three thousand years, not accepted by the human world, unable to live in the sunlight, only able to hide in a place where no one goes, with no one to talk to. This kind of loneliness and solitude can extinguish all emotions!
Jiang Jie couldn't understand how Garona had become his friend. Perhaps it was because neither of them were welcomed by their own race, or even by their own world?
" Strom'kar the Warbreaker, I obtained him at the Tyr's Tomb. I saw the soul of Emperor Thoradin, and he... has been completely freed."
Jiang Jie was indeed thirsty, but he had no interest in drinking the murky water in the water tank. He then took out an exquisite tea set and some brewed iced tea, poured a cup for himself and Meryl, and drank it all in one gulp.
"It really is Tyr's Tomb. I've been there, and I know that Emperor Thoradin ultimately died there, but I was powerless to help him. Zakajz's power was too great, Tyr's remaining power also suppressed me. Has he finally found release?" Meryl's voice finally showed a slight fluctuation. "Where's the key? I'm on it... I feel a familiar power."
Familiar power?
The power of the Guardian of Tirisfal?
Jiang Jie almost forgot that Meryl was one of the founders of the Council of Tirisfal and a witness to the entire history of that council. She was the teacher of all the Keeper except Medivh, and personally taught every Keeper, including Aegwynn!
His understanding of the Keeper' power is probably no less than that of the Keeper themselves, is it?
"This key is the key to Karazhan, given to me personally by the Medivh the Astral Mage." Jiang Jie took out the key again, placed it on the table, and said, " Medivh gave it to me on the condition that I take care of someone for him, and that person is..."
"This person is Med'an!" Meryl's voice surged, tinged with a cold laugh and mockery, "I should have known! Garona is Orcs, Draenei! Med'an is Orcs, Draenei, half-human! And the power of the Keeper is sealed within him! His father can only be Medivh!"
Jiang Jie remained silent.
When Garona handed Med'an over to Meryl, she didn't reveal his background. But what kind of person Meryl? His knowledge was probably unparalleled among humans; how could he not guess Med'an's origins?
"What about Medivh? Is he... still alive?" Meryl asked.
" Medivh has left this world; his journey was to the stars... Yes, those were his exact words," Jiang Jie said. "It was Aegwynn who resurrected him..."
"I know!" Meryl interrupted, sneering, "What an interesting mother and son! They're practically cut from the same cloth! Equally cold-blooded and ruthless! They don't even care about their own children! The stars and the sea? I hope he dies soon!"
Jiang Jie fell silent again, because he truly didn't know what to say.
In his opinion, Medivh and Aegwynn were both unfit to be parents; they were utterly incompetent!
"You've come to take Med'an away?" Meryl asked.
"... He's still young, he should live like a normal person. I know Aegwynn is still alive, maybe he'd be willing... to live with his grandmother?"
Jiang Jie carefully chose his words and said, "Besides, since Medivh gave me the key, I should at least go to Karazhan to take a look. But I'm not a mage, and venturing into Karazhan isn't a good idea, so... I'd like to ask for your help."
Silence, a deathly silence.
After a long silence, Meryl coldly said, " Karazhan, I can help you. I'm also somewhat interested in that tower, but unfortunately Aegwynn doesn't welcome me, and neither does Medivh. But Med'an, you can forget about him! How can he live like a normal person? What race would welcome him looking like that? Aegwynn is still alive? Resurrecting Medivh didn't deplete her power? What good luck!"
Jiang Jie was silent for a moment, then said, "I can take him to my city. People there won't care about his identity. With me here, no one will dare to care about his identity. There, he can receive the best education and integrate into this world. Appearance is not a problem; my city has people of all kinds of appearances, some even stranger than him. You can come along too, and I can also find a way to invite Aegwynn over. I think Med'an would want a relative."
Sky City will become a transcendent city, allowing any race to enter, as long as they abide by the city's rules.
Jiang Jie's own strength, along with the overall planning of Sky City, will ensure the effective implementation of the rules.
There won't be any problems for Med'an going there.
Just as Jiang Jie was about to say something more, his expression suddenly changed.
A short figure had already appeared behind him.
A cold dagger was just a hair's breadth away from his neck.
Jiang Jie didn't move, because the figure didn't move either. He could easily determine the newcomer's identity from their appearance and Meryl's lack of reaction.
Garona, Orcs and Draenei hybrid, is the Orcs Legendary and the mother of Med'an!
She actually came!
Was she secretly protecting Med'an all along?
"Human, can you guarantee that Med'an can live a normal life? Just like... any ordinary person in Stormwind City?" Garona's icy voice rang out.
"I promise!" Jiang Jie took out the divine sword Strom'kar and placed it next to the key. "In their name!"
"Then remember your promise today. If one day I find that you have failed to keep it, I will take your life!" Garona disappeared again.
When the sound disappeared, she disappeared too, as if she had never been there at all.
