(Thanks to Jingyuan for the 500 reward! And to FenSong for the 100 reward!)
Gavinrad is different from the other Grand Knight!
He came from Stormwind City and served as a member of the Stormwind Brotherhood of the Horse during World War I. He followed Sir Lothar, the " Lion of Azeroth," in the war against the Orcs, personally killing countless Orcs and earning Sir Lothar's appreciation.
Before the Second War began, he was introduced by Lothar to Archbishop Faol of the Holy Light, becoming the fifth Paladin after Uther and others.
In other words, he was already a powerful knight before becoming Paladin!
After becoming Paladin, his devotion to the Holy Light was no less than, and perhaps even greater than, that of the other paladins. In fact, he was known for his "devotion."
After World War II, his status gradually rose, eventually surpassing Dathrohan and Tirion Fordring to become the number two figure in the Order of the Silver Hand.
In fact, Uther the Lightbringer is more of a spiritual leader, a representative of the Holy Light, and not responsible for specific affairs. The entire Order of the Silver Hand are managed by Gavinrad and Dathrohan. The management skills he learned from the Stormwind Brotherhood of the Horse and Lothar make Gavinrad more suitable than others to be the leader of the Knights.
As Paladin Gavinrad may not receive the same blessings of the Holy Light as Uther the Lightbringer, or even as much as Turalyon, Dathrohan, or Tirion Fordring, but he possesses an ability that others lack:
He possessed a superior ability to judge character compared to others. While everyone else praised Arthas, he alone disapproved of the prince, believing Arthas to be spoiled, indecisive, emotionally fragile, and lacking in piety. Had it not been for the sake of King Terenas and Uther, he would certainly not have remained silent!
In fact, Arthas did not receive the baptism of the Holy Light immediately; he waited quite some time before being baptized and becoming a Paladin. In other words, the Holy Light Gavinrad, believed that Arthas was not devout enough and his heart was not firm enough, questioning his qualifications to become Paladin!
Gavinrad Doom is considered by many to be the least prominent of the Grand Knight, even less famous than Highlord Mograine, a second-generation Paladin. But Jiang Jie knows that's because he died too young. In fact, this Grand Knight's reputation and status are now second only to Uther the Lightbringer and Turalyon!
If there's anyone in the high command of the Order of the Silver Hand who still believes Arthas will destroy the country, it's him!
The North Sea lies between the continents of Lordaeron and Northrend.
Several warships were sailing from northwest to southeast. Standing at the bow was a figure clad in gray-black armor, wearing a gray-black cloak and a gray-black hood, and carrying a runic magic sword that emitted a cold, icy light...
Death Knight!
Arthas!
This former prince of Lordaeron has now become a true Death Knight, and the most powerful Death Knight in history, a Legendary Death Knight even more terrifying than the first Death Knight in history, "Taron Bloodlord"!
His hair was completely white, and his eyes gleamed with a cold light.
" Lordaeron... I'm back!" he whispered, his face expressionless.
"Yes, Your Highness, you must return now." A guard stepped forward respectfully.
He is Captain Falric, Arthas's second-in-command, and now a Death Knight —a Death Knight killed and resurrected by Arthas himself!
He stood to the left behind Arthas, while another Death Knight, Marwyn, who was also Arthas's lieutenant, stood to the right. From their lives until now, they had always been Arthas's most loyal subordinates, and always would be.
Arthas said nothing more; his thoughts began to wander, as had been happening frequently these days.
The thrill of revenge, the cold indifference of losing one's soul, and the lingering hope of kindness.
He is now split in two, with good and evil coexisting, making him a true schizophrenic! One half of his soul was devoured by the Frostmourne and merged with Frostmourne, while the other half, still good, remains imprisoned by Frostmourne in an eternal ice coffin, never to see the light of day.
Frostmourne has always tried to devour or destroy kind souls, but it is difficult to do so because everything depends on Arthas's own decision. However, his kindness still remains.
Ultimately, he embarked on this path to save his country and his people, didn't he?
Although he went astray!
"Enemy attack!"
Suddenly, the guards issued a loud warning, Arthas raised his head to look at the distant sky.
A dark, dense mass.
His eyes had been modified by Frostmourne. Although they looked like empty holes, they actually possessed superhuman vision that ordinary people could not have. So he quickly saw the specific situation. His expression finally began to fluctuate, showing regret, affection, pain, and even more so, determination!
" Gryphon Rider? Korth'azz Uther? And... Jaina!"
The griffins quickly approached and then circled over the ships. Three of them swooped down and came within twenty meters of Arthas.
At this distance, anyone can clearly see the other person's appearance. For Legendary Paladin and Archmage, they can even more clearly sense the terrifying energy emanating from the other person, and the chilling evil hidden within the mortal body!
" Arthas! What happened to you! How could you become like this!" Jaina felt a chill run through her body.
Although everything she witnessed and the mysterious prophet's warnings convinced her that Arthas had fallen and would bring disaster to Lordaeron and even the entire world, she still clung to a glimmer of hope.
Perhaps Arthas can resist evil? Perhaps he can return unscathed?
But everything before her now tells her:
Stop dreaming, it's impossible!
"Boy, you smell of the Undead! You remind me of those despicable Death Knight from World War II! You've become Death Knight! Boy, do you know what you've done?! You've betrayed your country! Your people! Your name!" Uther's voice was authoritative, his teeth clenched.
I'm so disappointed in you!
After all, he was Arthas's guide to the Holy Light, and Arthas's Paladin mentor! He personally led Arthas onto the path of the Holy Light, and he personally recommended Arthas to join the Order of the Silver Hand!
At that moment, Uther remembered what Gavinrad had once told him:
" Arthas? He hesitated. His faith in the Holy Light wasn't devout enough; he wasn't qualified to join the Order of the Silver Hand!"
At the time, he shook his head and chuckled, believing that Arthas would be the best Paladin, and that his status as crown prince and future king would allow the Order of the Silver Hand to develop better and promote the Way of the Holy Light more effectively.
Looking back now, Gavinrad's ability to judge people was indeed superior to mine!
