Chapter Summaries

Meryl and Faol tested their powers against the mindless Jotun, but his defenses and Demigod soul resisted them. Uther combined the power of five Legendaries and three artifacts through the Silver Hand warhammer, glimpsed the Demigod realm, and left resolved to support Jiang Jie as his beliefs began to shift.

• Meryl began casting a Legendary spell at Jotun while Faol attempted to control his mind, but Jotun's Demigod soul rebounded Faol's spell.
• Old Mograine and Tirion Fordring held back because their weapons could not harm Jotun, while Tsul'Kalu struck Jotun's thigh with his Arcanite greatsword and chipped away stone.
• Uther called on Tirion, Fenna, Old Mograine, and Faol to channel their Holy Light into the Silver Hand warhammer alongside his own power.
• The combined power of five Legendaries and three artifacts returned the Silver Hand warhammer to the Demigod level, letting Uther glimpse the Demigod realm and the possibility of reaching it.
• Uther silently resolved to support Nicholas, and his understanding of the Holy Light and its place in his faith began to change.

Uther struck Jotun with the Silver Hand warhammer, combining its Holy Light with Tyr’s power to destroy Loken’s curse and free Jotun. In the struggle, Ulthalesh empowered Meryl, transforming him into a High-tier Legendary spellcaster and bringing him closer to becoming a warlock.

• The Silver Hand warhammer awakened Tyr’s Demigod-level power within Jotun, while Jotun resisted Loken’s curse and caused it to begin collapsing.
• Loken sensed Jotun was about to break free, realized he could not reinforce the curse in time, and laughed that the world would die with him.
• Uther hurled the Silver Hand warhammer into Jotun, and Meryl teleported away from the blast of Holy Light.
• Ulthalesh responded to the warhammer by feeding power to Meryl, who used the opportunity to transform his body and reach the High-tier Legendary level.
• Jiang Jie reflected that the operation was intended to empower the humans and Ashbringer as well as free Jotun, and welcomed Meryl’s unexpected growth.
• The Silver Hand warhammer’s Holy Light merged with Tyr’s power, destroyed Loken’s curse, and awakened Jotun.

After Jotun joined the fight against the Scourge, Uther returned Tyr's power to his allies, strengthening them and their weapons. Fenna chose the path of protection and became a Legendary paladin, then returned Ashbringer to Old Mograine and watched Jiang Jie pursue his goal.

• Anveena explained to Jotun what had happened while he slept, and he pledged to support her and fight Loken and Yogg-Saron after they found more allies.
• Jiang Jie persuaded Jotun to help defeat Arthas and the Scourge first, and Jotun transferred Tyr's power into the Holy Hammer of the Silver Hand.
• Uther shared the hammer's holy power with Old Mograine, Tirion Fordring, Faol, Fenna, Jiang Jie, Light's Wrath, and Ashbringer.

Jiang Jie used Faol’s guidance to balance Holy Light and Shadow, forming the Two Aspects Earth Immortal foundation. He discovered that Strom'kar disrupted the balance and asked Jotun whether Tyr's severed hand still held Holy Light energy.

• Jiang Jie studied how Holy Light and Shadow could coexist, but his lack of understanding of Holy Light kept his Taijiquan practice from succeeding.
• Faol connected his consciousness with Jiang Jie through Light's Wrath and shared his knowledge of Holy Light and Shadow.
• With Faol’s help, Jiang Jie balanced the two powers, formed yin-yang fish, and gathered them into a Taiji diagram in his middle dantian.
• Jiang Jie tested his new foundation with Strom'kar, but its Shadow energy shattered the balance, so he threw the sword away.
• Jiang Jie asked Jotun whether Holy Light energy remained in Tyr's severed hand.

At Galakrond's Rest, Jiang Jie arranged for Jotun to forge Tyr's severed arm into powerful gloves and repair the Lich King Helm. Jotun agreed to seek help and artifacts in Stormheim, while Jiang Jie promised to return to face Loken and Yogg-Saron after dealing with other threats.

• Krasus explained that the Scourge had failed to resurrect Galakrond and that he had driven the Frost Wyrms and undead from Dragonblight.
• Jotun summoned Tyr's enormous metal arm from beneath Galakrond's remains.
• Jiang Jie asked Jotun to forge the arm into gloves that could withstand demigod attacks and store and release Holy Light energy.
• Jotun agreed to travel to Odyn's Halls of Valor for help and a Titan forge, and Jiang Jie asked him to repair the Lich King Helm and make matching armor.
• Jiang Jie asked Jotun to find the artifacts Truth Keeper and Oathseeker on the Path of Kings in Stormheim, and promised to help defeat Loken and Yogg-Saron later.

Jiang Jie joined Broll and Ethereal Moonfire in Grizzly Hills to address the corruption afflicting the Furbolgs. Broll proposed purifying Ursoc in Teldrassil before the Furbolgs could resurrect him in a form corrupted by Yogg-Saron.

• Jiang Jie and Anveena traveled east to Grizzly Hills to help resolve the Furbolgs' corruption.
• Jiang Jie found Broll Bearmantle and Ethereal Moonfire at Amberpine Lodge, where a thousand Silverwing Sentinels had gathered.
• Broll reported that at least twenty thousand Furbolgs had become crazed and that the Night Elves had mapped the Scourge, Troll, and Iron Dwarf presence in the region.
• Broll explained that the Furbolgs were trying to resurrect Ursoc and proposed purifying him in Teldrassil before Yogg-Saron could corrupt him.

Jiang Jie and Broll planned to resurrect the corrupted Ursoc through a ritual at Teldrassil, since Nordrassil could not spare the energy. They split up to gather the Timbermaw Furbolgs and Ursoc’s children, Orsonn and Kodian, before the ritual.

• Jiang Jie concluded that resurrecting Ursoc would require a World Tree and chose Teldrassil because Nordrassil was still recovering and healing Tortolla.
• Broll explained that purified Furbolgs had revealed Ursoc’s children, Orsonn and Kodian, were alive and apparently uncorrupted.
• Broll said the ritual needed the Timbermaw Furbolgs’ prayers and spells, along with offerings from the sentinels and preparations by the Druids.
• Jiang Jie and Broll agreed to split up: Broll would contact the Timbermaw elders, while Jiang Jie would search for Orsonn and Kodian.
• Broll told Jiang Jie to meet Mage Leryda in Stromgarde and travel by portal to avoid the dangerous Emerald Dream.

Jiang Jie found Orsonn and persuaded him and his sister Kodian to help resurrect Ursoc and Ursol and cleanse the Grizzly Hills. The siblings agreed to join him, but he asked them to wait while he gathered offerings and built an altar.

• Jiang Jie found Orsonn in a snowy mountain cave, where the bear had avoided Vordrassil’s corruption while his Furbolg offspring became corrupted.
• Jiang Jie told Orsonn he planned to resurrect Ursoc and Ursol and cleanse the Grizzly Hills, and Cenarius’s avatar urged Orsonn to trust him.
• Orsonn agreed to help Jiang Jie and led him to Kodian, whom he had not seen for thousands of years.
• Kodian agreed to go with Jiang Jie, but Jiang Jie asked both bears to wait while he gathered offerings and built an altar.

Jiang Jie joined the expedition at Utgarde Keep, where the allied forces planned to eliminate the Vrykul leaders before attacking Icecrown. After rejecting Old Mograine’s plan to confront King Ymiron together, Jiang Jie entered the fortress alone while the others flew to attack Skadi.

• Anveena received Archmage Angela’s message that the Order of the Silver Hand and the High Elves had gathered at Utgarde Keep to clear out the Scourge and prepare for Icecrown.
• Old Mograine briefed Jiang Jie on previous attacks and shared intelligence about Skadi, his dragon Grauf, and King Ymiron.
• Old Mograine proposed splitting the group, with him and Jiang Jie attacking Ymiron while Halduron and Anveena targeted Skadi.
• Jiang Jie told Old Mograine to join the aerial attack on Skadi and said he would handle Ymiron alone.
• Halduron, Old Mograine, and Anveena flew invisibly toward Hawk’s Eye Terrace, while Jiang Jie slipped into Utgarde Pinnacle.

Jiang Jie confronted King Ymiron in Ymiron's Seat and defeated him despite attacks from four ancient Vrykul kings. Afterward, an irresistible power carried their souls away, leading Jiang Jie to suspect Helheim was the enemy Odyn wanted them to fight.

• Jiang Jie entered Ymiron's Seat and faced King Ymiron, who condemned humans as malformed descendants of the Vrykul.
• Jiang Jie recounted how Skadi hunted humanity's ancestors and argued that humans had grown powerful while the Vrykul had fallen behind.
• King Ymiron summoned Ranulf, Bjorn, Haldor, and Tor, whose combined soul attacks failed to harm Jiang Jie.
• King Ymiron charged Jiang Jie, but Jiang Jie appeared behind him and killed him with a chi-powered palm strike.
• Jiang Jie waited as a strange power carried away King Ymiron's soul and the four Vrykul kings' souls, then wondered if Helheim was Odyn's enemy.

Jiang Jie and Tyrande prepared to resurrect Ursol while discussing Fandral’s disappearance and the danger facing the Night Elves. The ritual was interrupted when Cenarius called them into the Emerald Dream to help save Ursoc from Xavius.

• The Furbolgs gathered their offerings at Amberpine Lodge, and Jiang Jie brought them to Sky City to begin Ursol’s resurrection.
• Jiang Jie learned that Fandral, Leyara, Astaria, and more than a hundred Druids had vanished, and he warned Tyrande that Fandral might be hiding in the Emerald Dream as a Nightmare Druid.
• Tyrande revealed that she had kept the Tear of Elune safe after Xavius’s minions attacked the Temple of the Moon, and she described the defenses guarding Shaladrassil and Moonglade.
• Jiang Jie and Tyrande discussed purifying Ursoc as Cenarius called them and their allies into the Emerald Dream to help because Xavius was tormenting Ursoc’s soul.

Jiang Jie entered the Emerald Dream with Cenarius’s group and learned they were splitting their forces to rescue Ysera while drawing Xavius away. The group raced to Grizzly Hills to save Ursoc, who was close to being fully corrupted.

• Jiang Jie entered the Emerald Dream and found himself in the Nightmare Core, where nightmare creatures attacked the group.
• Broll recognized the corrupted Nightmare Core as the dream world’s central teleportation hub and blamed Fandral Staghelm and the druids who had joined Xavius.
• Cenarius ordered Broll to lead the group to Grizzly Hills to save Ursoc while he and Malfurion used the diversion to rescue Ysera.
• Broll transformed into a giant bear and led Jiang Jie, Tyrande, and the others through the nightmare creatures toward Grizzly Hills.
• Jiang Jie arrived in Grizzly Hills and saw Ursoc’s hideous, scarlet-corrupted face.

Jiang Jie and his allies reached Ursoc’s Den, where they learned that Ursoc had been corrupted and that Xavius had laid a trap for them. Ursol revealed a plan to cleanse Grizzly Hills and save Ysera, and Xavius arrived with a host of Nightmare minions.

• Broll led Jiang Jie, the bear siblings, and their allies through Grizzly Hills toward Ursoc’s Den, fighting corrupted spirits along the way.
• At the den, Jiang Jie saw Ursol facing a corrupted Ursoc and noticed the Claws of Ursoc nearby.
• Ursol stopped Lethon and Kodian from attacking Ursoc and explained that Ursoc had to be killed and cleansed for his soul to be reborn.
• Ursol recognized Jiang Jie and promised to teach him the bear demigods’ forms if they cleansed Ursoc and Grizzly Hills.
• Ursol revealed that he, Cenarius, and Malfurion had set a trap for Xavius, then told the group to hold off the Nightmare forces while he fought Ursoc.
• Xavius appeared with a mass of Nightmare minions as Ursol prepared to hold Ursoc back.

Xavius revealed that he was only a projection and sent a vast Nightmare force against Jiang Jie and his allies, including Fandral and other corrupted druids. As battle began, Jiang Jie guessed that Ursol’s real plan was to purify Ursoc before turning their strength against Xavius and rescuing Ysera.

• Xavius vanished after revealing his plan to devour the Emerald Dream and Azeroth, while Nightmare minions surrounded Ursoc’s Den.
• Over a hundred corrupted druids appeared, and Broll recognized Fandral, Leyara, and Astaria among them.
• Jiang Jie confronted Fandral about the Nightmare Lord’s supposed resurrection of his son, but Fandral rejected his doubts and attacked.
• Broll, the bears, Tsul'Kalu, Anveena, and Tyrande fought the approaching Nightmare forces.
• Jiang Jie told Ursol to give Broll the Claws of Ursoc and secretly urged him to continue with his real plan to purify Ursoc.

Malfurion arrived with G'Hanir, the Mother Tree, and its power cleansed the Nightmare from the area. Jiang Jie realized the Nightmare’s corruption had been influencing his thoughts, while Ursoc’s rescue remained unresolved.

• Jiang Jie explained that Cenarius and Malfurion had limited ways to contact the Wild Gods and planned to rescue Ursoc first.
• Jiang Jie tried to draw attention to Ursoc so Ursol could break the seal, but the Nightmare’s forces proved stronger than expected.
• Malfurion arrived carrying G'Hanir, and its Green Rain of Tranquility drove back the Nightmare and restored the Dream’s landscape.
• Mylune followed Malfurion and complained that he had taken the staff she guarded.
• Jiang Jie considered taking G'Hanir for his own purposes, then recoiled and recognized that the Nightmare’s corruption had been affecting him.

Malfurion purifies most of the Nightmare’s forces in Grizzly Hills, but Fandral, Leyara, and Astaria escape. Rather than answer Xavius’s summons, Fandral chooses to go to Silithus and unleash the Qiraji in revenge for his son’s death.

• Malfurion uses the Rain of Tranquility and a storm to destroy the Nightmare’s minions, while restoring the senses of at least half of them.
• Malfurion confronts Fandral over his corruption and his plan to resurrect Valstann, but Fandral, Leyara, and Astaria vanish in crimson light.
• Malfurion joins Ursol against the corrupted Ursoc and says they must defeat him before purifying Grizzly Hills, as Cenarius and Eranikus struggle to hold back Xavius.
• Xavius summons Fandral to the Eye of Ysera, but Fandral refuses and tells Leyara that Malfurion may defeat Xavius again.
• Fandral leads Leyara and Astaria toward Silithus, planning to break the Scarab Wall and unleash the Qiraji in vengeance for Valstann.

Malfurion and the others cleansed Grizzly Hills, resurrected Ursoc, and gave Broll the Claws of Ursoc. Jiang Jie gained insight into the flaws in his soul, then received a separate mission from Cenarius to find and destroy Xavius's soul tree.

• Ursol gave Broll the Claws of Ursoc, which merged with his soul and raised his strength to the high-tier Legendary rank.
• Malfurion used G'Hanir and everyone’s combined power to summon a storm that cleansed Grizzly Hills of the Nightmare.
• The cleansed land regenerated, its uncorrupted souls returned, and Ursoc was resurrected in Ursoc's Den.
• Jiang Jie experienced the combined spiritual power of the group, recognized cracks in his soul, and resolved to stop devouring souls and strengthen his foundation.
• Malfurion led the counterattack toward the Eye of Ysera to rescue Ysera, while Cenarius tasked Jiang Jie with finding and destroying Xavius's soul tree.

Malfurion and his allies fought their way to the Eye of Ysera, where Eranikus sacrificed himself to free Ysera and destroy the Nightmare dragons. Meanwhile, Jiang Jie followed Cenarius's guidance to a mist-shrouded place and found a soul tree.

• Malfurion and his allies battled through Nightmare armies to reach the Eye of Ysera, where Cenarius was trapped and Eranikus fought Taerar, Emeriss, and Ysondre.
• Malfurion, Ursol, Ursoc, Tyrande, and the others attacked Xavius, but Nightmare minions overwhelmed much of their force.
• Eranikus broke through the Nightmare dragons, grappled with Lethon, and self-destructed, killing Lethon and the pursuing dragons and breaking Ysera's cage.
• Ysera was freed and enraged as the Emerald Dream trembled.
• Jiang Jie traveled alone under Cenarius's concealment, killed the Nightmare creatures surrounding him, and found a soul tree.

Tyrande and Anveena’s prayers purified the Eye of Ysera and destroyed Xavius’s manifestation, but Ysera revealed that his true body and soul tree had to be destroyed together. Jiang Jie and the demigods destroyed his soul tree as Malfurion attacked his physical tree, though Jiang Jie knew the Nightmare Lord could return while the Old Gods remained.

• Ysera restrained Xavius’s power while Tyrande and Anveena prayed, and moonlight purified the Eye of Ysera and destroyed Xavius’s manifestation.
• Ysera explained that Xavius’s true body and soul tree were hidden in separate places, and led Malfurion and the others to his withered physical tree.
• Ysera lent Malfurion her authority over the Dream so he could attack Xavius’s physical tree while Jiang Jie prepared Dragon’s Call to destroy the soul tree.
• Cenarius, Tortolla, and Freya’s avatar poured their power into Dragon’s Call, and Jiang Jie repeatedly struck Xavius’s soul tree until it vanished.
• Xavius’s physical tree withered as he cried out and disappeared, but Jiang Jie realized the Nightmare could persist and Xavius could return while the Old Gods remained.

After the Emerald Dream battle, Jiang Jie lost Dragon's Call but helped resurrect Ursol and Ursoc and received their blessings. He began learning to use the blessings and considered his path toward True Dragon Form, then received an unexpected visitor on the third day.

• Jiang Jie learned that Ysera had taken Dragon's Call to try to restore Eranikus and would remain in the Emerald Dream to guard against Xavius and the Nightmare.
• Jiang Jie oversaw the ritual that resurrected Ursol and Ursoc, which drained much of Teldrassil's energy.
• Ursol and Ursoc blessed Jiang Jie and Broll, and Jiang Jie sent the demigod brothers and the bear siblings to Grizzly Hills.
• Broll said he needed to return to Mount Hyjal to purify Nordrassil, while Tyrande left for Val'sharah to return the Tear of Elune and strengthen its defenses.
