Jiang Jie survived an attempted poisoning and assassination, earned a place among Lordaeron’s Royal Assassins, and began training with the gaming pod while seeking a way to gain power and money. His novel impressed Princess Calia, who offered to help publish it, but Jiang Jie asked her not to print it yet.
Jiang Jie built a storytelling venture, advanced his cultivation, and earned recognition among the Assassins' Order. On the journey to Tirisfal Monastery, he helped defeat a cult ambush and exposed Dudley’s possession of Scourge Plague, while Dudley implicated his father in the Cult of the Damned.
Jiang Jie helped Princess Calia expose the Cult of the Damned and survive its attempted coup in Lordaeron, while Terenas began relying on Calia to govern. The Silver Hand purified a shadow crystal that Jiang Jie named Ashbringer, just as news arrived that Arthas had dissolved the order.
Jiang Jie strengthened Lordaeron’s defenses, mastered new skills, and took the fight to the undead at Felstone Field. As Arthas advanced on Lordaeron and Uther was gravely wounded, Fenna claimed Ashbringer and prepared to join the defense.
Jiang Jie helped lead the assault on Andorhal, where Fenna became the Ashbringer’s chosen wielder and Tichondrius escaped with Kel'Thuzad’s corpse. Jiang Jie, Fenna, and Jaina destroyed Scholomance and rescued its refugees, then reached Lordaeron as Jiang Jie pressed Princess Calia to decide their fate.
Jiang Jie helped Princess Calia prepare Lordaeron for the refugees, claimed Strom'kar after defeating Zakajz, and led the fight against Arthas’s invasion. He forced Arthas to withdraw by using Invincible’s remains as leverage, but Arthas vowed to kill him and raise him as a Death Knight.
Jiang Jie helped Queen Calia rally the Eastern Kingdoms against the Scourge and led the effort to defend Quel'Thalas. He formed the Ashen Army under Fenna and reached Stratholme, where he scouted the city ahead of the assault.
Jiang Jie and the Ashen Army defeated the Scourge in Stratholme, but Tichondrius escaped and the Horde of undead advanced on Quel’Thalas. After Arthas shattered Silvermoon’s Runestone Barrier, Jiang Jie helped rally the city’s defenders while the Scourge marched toward the Sunwell.
After Silvermoon fell and the Sunwell was destroyed, Jiang Jie helped the High Elves recover while training and expanding his influence in Lordaeron. When the Scourge invaded Gilneas and Southshore, he set out for Gilneas with Allen as Lordaeron prepared to protect its civilians.
Jiang Jie rescued Gilnean refugees from the Scourge and Worgen, helped evacuate Dalaran before Archimonde destroyed it, and killed Arugal at Shadowfang Keep. After finding Prince Liam infected, Jiang Jie agreed to accompany Lorna to Kalimdor to seek help from the Druids.
Jiang Jie learned Pandaren martial arts, gathered the Wandering Isle’s elemental spirits, and left with new allies as the Burning Legion threatened Kalimdor. He saved Cenarius from Grom, helped secure a pause in the Night Elves’ fighting with the Orcs, and joined Thrall, Cairne, and Jaina against the Legion’s forces.
Jiang Jie helped defeat Mannoroth, then traveled to Felwood to find the Scythe of Elune and confront Tichondrius. After Velinde gained control of the Worgen and Jiang Jie seized the Skull of Gul'dan, he gave it to Illidan, who began absorbing its power while battling Tichondrius.
Jiang Jie and his allies helped defeat Archimonde and the Legion at Mount Hyjal, then Jiang Jie secured a World Tree seed to aid plague-stricken Lordaeron. He sailed east with Broll Bearmantle and the Druids, while a mysterious man intervened in a Southshore inn after a paladin attacked Marin.
Jiang Jie helped Genn and the worgen escape the Scourge, then rallied Southshore’s defenders and drove Arthas’s forces into retreat. In Lordaeron, Calia rewarded the Fenris People’s Army, Faol began teaching her, and Jiang Jie planted Teldrassil in Lake Lordamere.
Jiang Jie and his allies raced to stop Illidan’s bombardment from freeing Yogg-Saron, then fought through Icecrown Citadel against Arthas and the Old God’s servants. Tyrande’s power, channeled through Anveena, shattered the Frozen Throne and destroyed Ner’zhul’s soul, but Arthas survived the citadel’s collapse.
Jiang Jie helped drive back the Scourge, oversaw the reforging of powerful weapons, and uncovered a demonic plot in Tyr's Hand. He then traveled to Uldaman with the Pandaren and Brann to seek the Disc of Norgannon, where Ironaya attacked them.
Jiang Jie and Anveena defeated Archaedas, secured Uldaman, and helped the dwarves fight the Rockjaw Troggs. After warning Ironforge of the threat to Gnomeregan, Jiang Jie joined Brann and Amy in clearing the city, while Sicco Thermaplugg moved to seize it.
Jiang Jie saved Gnomeregan, secured the gnomes’ help for his plans, and found Med’an with Meryl and Garona. In Karazhan, the group fought its guardians and demons, and Jiang Jie revealed that Medivh’s echo was Med’an’s father.
Jiang Jie and his companions explored Karazhan, witnessed Aegwynn’s battle with Sargeras, and were drawn into a First War chessboard where Jiang Jie fought Grom and Orgrim. After the chessboard collapsed, Jiang Jie left Karazhan to answer Queen Calia’s call about the Syndicate’s attacks on Hillsbrad.
Jiang Jie exposed and defeated the Dreadlords and helped King Thoradin reclaim Stromgarde, then became Grand Duke of the Arathi Highlands. When Kel'Thuzad and Orgrim Doomhammer invaded with an undead army, Jiang Jie gathered allies to defend the city and prepared to meet the approaching forces.
