Be His Lover
His force was overbearing and urgent, as though he wanted to swallow me whole.
His kiss nearly suffocated me. I struggled instinctively, my hands pounding haphazardly against his shoulders as I resisted.
But Gu Hansheng gripped my wrists tightly. "If it were Gu Mingze, you'd be perfectly willing, wouldn't you?"
At the sound of Gu Mingze's name, my body stiffened.
Ever since marrying Gu Hansheng, I hadn't dared to think of him for a long time.
-the man I'd once liked for so long, Gu Hansheng's older half brother, who shared his father.
Although I'd been spoiled and domineering before my family went bankrupt, I still had moral boundaries. Since I was married, I would never have any entanglements with another man, and I'd never contacted Gu Mingze.
Yet he remained a thorn in Gu Hansheng's heart.
When I said nothing, Gu Hansheng forced me to look straight at him. "Gu Mingze is back in the country. You must be delighted. I know I'll never measure up to him in your heart. Even now that I'm the head of the Gu Family, you still won't give me a proper glance."
I sneered. "Gu Hansheng, whatever your status now, you still feel inferior whenever Gu Mingze comes up, don't you?"
Gu Hansheng looked at me, his voice turning colder. "It seems Miss Yu still can't learn to bow her head, deep down. Forget it..."
As he spoke, he moved to get up.
And I understood that once he lost interest in me, the life that had only just stabilized would collapse in an instant.
A second before Gu Hansheng could leave the bedside, I wrapped my arms around his neck and rolled over to pin him beneath me, forcing out a ingratiating smile. "You're my sugar daddy now. Of course no one can compare to you in my heart."
My hand tentatively stroked his chest. Though my movements were somewhat clumsy, I could clearly feel Gu Hanssheng's earlobes beginning to burn.
As my movements grew bolder, his breathing grew hotter.
Just as I found myself at a loss for what to do next, Gu Hansheng abruptly pulled me close, then bit my lips.
His kiss was still rough, yet it unexpectedly ignited my passion.
We kissed with abandon. Amid the haze of desire, a tearing pain struck, jolting me awake in an instant.
What was going on!
Gu Hansheng and I had clearly already slept together after that drunken night, so why did it still hurt so much now?
Could it have healed on its own because it had been so long?
My wild thoughts were soon drowned in Gu Hansheng's deepening frenzy.
I had to admit, Gu Hansheng's stamina was extraordinary.
No matter how I begged for mercy, he refused to let me off.
By the time he finally fell asleep holding me, the horizon had already turned fish-belly white.
I didn't even have the strength to bathe before sinking into a deep sleep.
When I opened my eyes again, it was already the following afternoon.
Gu Hansheng was gone. Silently cursing my heartless sugar daddy, I got up, rubbing my aching lower back.
As I rolled out of bed and caught sight of that glaring smear of bright red on the sheets, I froze!
This was...
Blood from my first time!
Remembering the piercing pain last night, then looking at the sheets, I felt every hair on my body stand on end!
So last night had been our first time. Had nothing at all happened between Gu Hansheng and me on that drunken night four years ago?
Gu Hansheng, why had he lied to me!
My phone rang.
The screen displayed the name "Gu Mingze."
I instinctively hung up, but the calls kept coming.
"Hanhan, I'm back in the country."
Gu Mingze's voice was as gentle as ever, the voice that had made my heart flutter most throughout my youth.
Hearing it now, however, I felt nothing.
"Mm," I answered flatly.
Gu Mingze paused for several seconds. "I heard what happened to the Yu Family. I also know you and Gu Hansheng... got divorced. Would you like to meet?"
"We couldn't meet before because of our relationship, and there's even less reason now. Don't contact me again."
People had to say goodbye to the past eventually.
I was Gu Hansheng's lover now. I needed professional ethics.
Besides... I realized I didn't seem to dislike things as they were now. I even felt that Gu Hansheng was actually rather nice.
After hanging up, I felt inexplicably relieved.
The knot that had tangled my heart for so long had come undone just like that.
I enjoyed a comfortable soak in the bath.
When I came out, the butler brought in a large assortment of clothes, jewelry, and bags.
They were even more luxurious than what I'd had during the Yu Family's glory days.
It seemed Gu Hansheng was quite willing to spend money on me.
I accepted everything, even calculating how much cash I could exchange it all for.
Only after being poor did you learn that nothing was as solid as money in your hand.
I picked out a haute couture outfit and put it on. The butler had already prepared dinner.
It was all food I loved. It seemed Gu Hansheng still remembered my preferences.
"Is Gu Hansheng coming home for dinner tonight?" I asked.
The butler answered respectfully, "Sir didn't say. He only instructed you not to go out without a reason and to wait for him at home."
Damn it, Gu Hansheng really was treating me like a bird in a cage.
I picked up my phone and scrolled for ages before finding Gu Hansheng on WeChat.
Only after opening the chat did I discover that I hadn't replied to a single one of his messages all these years.
"Are we having dinner together tonight?" I sent him a message.
I'd expected it to sink like a stone into the sea, but he replied instantly.
"What, didn't you get enough to eat last night?"
My face burned, and I nearly choked. That man, Gu Hansheng-how could he say something like that in broad daylight!
Remembering last night's frenzy, I couldn't help blushing.
"If you're not coming home, I'd like to visit my dad at the hospital."
"Sure, but I have a business engagement, so I won't go with you."
Gu Hansheng's reply surprised me.
Another message soon followed. "Come home early."
I held back the faint warmth rising in my heart.
When I reached the hospital entrance, a familiar figure came toward me.
It was Gu Mingze.
He was still as refined and handsome as ever, only with an added trace of maturity between his brows.
Gu Mingze always wore a faint, cultured smile that made people feel as though they were basking in a spring breeze.
I instinctively averted my eyes, intending to brush past him as though I didn't know him.
But he suddenly caught my wrist. "Hanhan, are you really going to treat me like a stranger?"
My eyes reddened despite myself.
I remembered us at seventeen, on a bicycle.
I remembered the slight furrow in his brow when he helped me with my homework.
I remembered the wishes we'd made while watching a meteor shower together.
I remembered his sorrow as he stood in front of the car before my wedding, refusing to let me leave.
But all of that was in the past.
From the moment I married Gu Hansheng, every possibility between Gu Mingze and me had vanished.
We were like two intersecting lines. After blazing fiercely and turbulently through our point of intersection, we had headed in opposite directions, drifting farther and farther apart.
"Gu Mingze, just pretend you never knew me."
I tried to pull free of his hand, but he held on tightly, as though afraid I would escape.
"Hanhan, do you... despise me now?"
Gu Mingze looked at me with those gentle eyes, as though trying to find some opening in my expression.
