Background / History

The God Realm chose to intervene in Douluo Planet's conflict after a prophecy foretold that a foreign Power of Destiny would merge with the planet and that its unifier would become the future ruler of the God Realm. The gods planned to send Divine Artifacts and Divine Legacies to create inheritors capable of competing for that future. At the time, twenty-eight active main divine positions remained after the Angel God, Rakshasa God, Thunder God, and Love God were counted as fallen. 150

A continent-wide meteor shower subsequently scattered twenty-six Divine Legacies across Douluo Continent. The meteor shower became a historic event and triggered a race among major factions and independent soul masters to locate the inheritances. 156 158

The twenty-six meteor-borne legacies, combined with six pre-existing Divine Legacies on Douluo Continent, brought the known total to thirty-two. Their holders became major targets for recruitment, manipulation, and seizure by the continent's powers. 324

Functions & Mechanics

Selection and Compatibility

A Divine Legacy favors talented soul masters whose attributes are compatible with its associated godhood. Elemental legacies can often be tracked to locations rich in their corresponding element, while non-elemental legacies may appear anywhere on Douluo Planet. 155 157

• The Thunder God Inheritance was expected to appear around Thunderclap Canyon, while the Earth God Legacy was expected in a major mountain range. 157
• A legacy can relocate, making fixed-location searches unreliable. 157
• Searchers are advised to watch compatible soul masters entering a likely legacy site, as they may be chosen without recognizing what they obtained. 157
• Exceptional talent can overcome, or even negate, an attribute mismatch with a Divine Legacy. 190
• Cultivation aptitude is not always the sole requirement; the Love God Legacy also requires attainment with the harp. 182

Divine Artifacts and Inheritance Light

Divine Legacies are bound to Legacy Divine Artifacts. When a soul master receives the artifact's light of inheritance, they gain both the Divine Legacy and the right to use its Divine Artifact. 278

• The Love God Legacy is contained in the harp Moonlight Love. 182
• The God of Light's Divine Artifact is the Pure White Holy Crown. 204
• The God of Darkness's Divine Artifact is the Fallen Demon Feathers. 204
• The Angel God's Divine Artifact is the Angel Holy Sword. 286
• Some artifacts have no ordinary physical form. The Desire Divine Artifact, the Eye of Desire, requires its inheritor's eyes as its medium. 212

Path to Godhood

A normal inheritor must complete nine legacy assessments and reach Peak Level Ninety-Nine before entering the Divine Legacy Space to inherit the corresponding divine position. Completing the final inheritance ceremony makes the inheritor a true god. 286 454 461

• The Auspicious Golden Dragon's isolation of Douluo Planet prevents gods from directly lowering assessment difficulty or aiding their inheritors. 387
• A legacy can grant extraordinary traits beyond ordinary Soul Master limits, including Talent Domains. 202
• Divine Legacy holders can assimilate their soul bones into matching divine-armor components; External Soul Bones may allow armor sets to exceed the conventional six pieces. 216

Transfer and Loss

A Divine Legacy can be extracted only if its inheritor willingly relinquishes it or dies. Upon the inheritor's death, the legacy returns to its Legacy Divine Artifact. 402

• Xu Keming's God of Darkness Legacy returned to the Fallen Demon Feathers after his death. 402
• Factions consider Divine Legacies valuable enough to recruit inheritors, force their submission, or attempt to seize the inheritances for their own members. 244
