Background / History
Tang San was originally an orphan and assassin-trained outer-sect disciple of the Bashu Tang Sect. After studying the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record and leaping from Ghost’s Worry, he arrived in Douluo Continent. His otherworldly knowledge formed the basis of his cultivation arts and hidden weapons. 376 403
At roughly six and a half years old, Tang San lived in Holy Spirit Village, where he cultivated the Purple Demon Eye, used Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and forged raw iron for his first Tang Sect hidden weapon. He intended to establish the Tang Sect’s name in this world. 2
Tang Yuehua brought him into Soul Hunting Forest to obtain a first ring suited to Blue Silver Grass. Following her advice, he selected an Ink Bamboo for its tenacity, toughness, and sharp leaves, then absorbed its Soul Ring through the Mysterious Heaven Skill. 13 14 Soon afterward, the Clear Sky Sect elders blamed him for their sect leader’s death and expelled him after less than a day within the sect. Tang Yuehua then made Moonlight Pavilion his home. 15
With Tai Tan and the Strength Clan’s loyalty, Tang San gained the manpower to mass-produce hidden-weapon components while personally assembling the finished mechanisms. He sold Tang Sect hidden weapons at auction, received five million Gold Soul Coins from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and began operating as the leader of an emerging power in Heaven Dou City. 16
Tang San traveled to Gengxin City to acquire rare metals and recruit Divine Craftsman Lou Gao. After demonstrating a Zhuge Crossbow and revealing blueprints for the Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus, he convinced Lou Gao to become the Tang Sect’s Forging Elder. 32 33 34 Tang San later completed the Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus and used its mountain-destroying power to pressure the Single Attribute Four Great Clans into joining his sect. 41
Humiliation at both the Clear Sky Sect and his ninth birthday banquet intensified his fixation on personal power. He began cultivating recklessly, opened meridians through the Mysterious Heaven Skill, and resolved to avoid marriage or emotional attachments until becoming invincible. 75 179
After receiving the God of Greed’s Divine Legacy, Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass awakened its dark side and evolved into the Dark Blue Silver Emperor. Its devouring ability let him drain plants for life energy, increase Soul Ring ages, and rapidly reach Rank 40. To erase the shameful traces of his childhood, he exterminated Holy Spirit Village and its inhabitants. 217
During the All-Continent Advanced Spirit Master Elite Tournament, Tang San exposed his Rank 72 Soul Saint cultivation. He defeated Shrek Academy by draining the team’s life force, then used his own teammates as bait against the Sea God Team so that he could plunder Chen Haitian’s power. His defeat to Chen’s Moon Rises Over the Sea: Taiyin Cold Haze left him humiliated and drew further enemies toward him. 291 292 340 343
Tang San later learned of his future self and Chen Haitian’s identity as his great-grandfather. Acting on that knowledge, he secretly left a convoy to awaken Tang Chen and secure his protection. 377 During the Heaven Dou palace coup, he confronted Qian Renxue with the Dark Blue Silver Domain and Greed Domain, and later used the Peacock Plume against her. 379 381
After killing Spirit Hall’s Young Master, Tang San fled Heaven Dou City with the Tang Sect. Tailong poisoned him with Seven-Colored Splendor; Tang San survived only by severing his right arm and stripping away its Soul Bone, which cost him ten Soul Power levels. He was subsequently declared the nation’s most wanted criminal for stealing the Heart of the Sea God. 384 388 389 391 In Balak Kingdom, Bibi Dong and the Golden Generation captured the weakened Tang San. Hu Liena extracted the Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eye from him before Bibi Dong ordered his execution. 403
Appearance
At age nine, Tang San was described as an ordinary-looking boy who nevertheless carried himself with confidence and authority. 60
- Long black hair, tied behind his head with a red ribbon. 60
- Wore a festive crimson robe for his ninth birthday banquet. 60
- His appearance was considered unremarkable by Heaven Dou nobles, despite his status as Tang Sect Master. 60
- When enraged by reminders of the Clear Sky Sect, his eyes become bloodshot and his expression turns savage. 283
Personality
Tang San is intensely ambitious, prideful, and deeply shaped by humiliation. His expulsion from the Clear Sky Sect, later public disgrace, and perceived slights repeatedly drive him toward harsher cultivation and long-term revenge. 32 75 179
He is capable of patience and restraint when facing opponents he cannot presently defeat, such as Lin Rong and the Old Butler. However, he internally records grievances and views those who offend him as people “with a path to death.” 179 283 340
Tang San prioritizes strength over emotional connection. He rejects marriage and children as potential weaknesses, while his assassin background reinforces a willingness to use deception, poison, hidden weapons, and expendable allies to secure victory. 179 340 341
The Heart of Greed exacerbates his ruthlessness and appetite for power. He drains life force beyond necessity, uses his own teammates as bait, and regards the destruction of Holy Spirit Village as an acceptable price for concealing his past. 217 292 340

- Allowed him to siphon power from Chen Haitian indirectly through the ocean created by the Great Sea Martial Soul. 340

- Its power has limits against exceptionally high-level energy, as shown when Tang San failed to easily plunder Taiyin Cold Haze. 343
