Special Assistant Su and A-Wang’s argument over seeing each other naked escalated into a violent encounter in a club room. The next morning, A-Wang threatened to cancel his partnership with the Song Corporation, but Special Assistant Su showed him a photograph of Su Zhang Lin, stopping him short.
Special Assistant Su traced Su Hui’s financial ties to Bai Zhonghui and suggested the payments might connect Bai Zhonghui to the attack on Xiaoxi. A-Wang ordered an investigation into Du Wei, but Special Assistant Su turned their conversation into another provocative encounter.
A-Wang uncovered evidence that Bai Zhonghui had helped hide Jiang Mingxi from Bai Zheming and arranged a plan to expose him. Su Chi volunteered to handle the hospital trap, then realized he wanted to court A-Wang and bring him roses.
At the orphanage, A-Wang tried to distract three-year-old Jiang Mingxi from missing his mommy by taking him to the river. When A-Wang went into the water to play, Jiang Mingxi wandered off to find a stick and ran into Song Lan, who was heading to the river to drown himself.
Ten-year-old Song Lan comforted Jiang Mingxi, who had mistaken his mother’s death in a hotel fire for her being trapped in a river. Song Lan gave him a smooth stone as a “star mommy,” but when Jiang Mingxi learned Song Lan had no mother, he invited him to return the next day for one too.
Song Lan kept meeting Jiang Mingxi by the river instead of carrying out his plan to die, and the child shared his small comforts with him. After giving Song Lan lollipops and their secret stones, Jiang Mingxi called them both brave children, leaving Song Lan with a reason to meet him again.
Song Lan comforted Jiang Mingxi after he lost his beloved star-shaped stone, and the boy began calling Song Lan his mommy, delaying Song Lan’s plan to die. Later, the orphanage director took Jiang Mingxi and A-Wang to a villa in Yun City that Jiang Mingxi recognized as his home, leaving them poised to search for his family.
The director brought Jiang Mingxi to the villa he remembered as home, but the residents and security guards insisted he had the wrong house and drove them away. Jiang Mingxi stabbed the boy who tried to stop him, then passed out from crying on the way back.
Song Lan learned that Xiaoxi had gone to find his parents and, overwhelmed by the loss, tried to enter the river before Song Bai stopped him. Meanwhile, Jiang Mingxi woke up crying to go home, and the orphanage director questioned the strange events surrounding Xiaoxi’s visit.
After Jiang Mingxi disappeared from the orphanage, A-Wang found him injured and drifting in the river, then rescued him and carried him back. Jiang Mingxi survived after nearly a month in the hospital, but the director’s investigation into the attack found no evidence or suspect.
When four men attacked A-Wang, Jiang Mingxi tried to draw them away and find help, but the men caught up with A-Wang in an alley. Jiang Mingxi ran back toward the fight while Gao Le went to get the police.
Jiang Mingxi saved A-Wang by distracting his attackers with a slingshot, then took a knife wound while protecting him. After waking in the hospital, Jiang Mingxi learned A-Wang had been adopted and taken far away, leaving him grieving their separation.
Three months after A-Wang left, Jiang Mingxi struggled with sleeplessness and longed for a mother, while Gao Le tried to cheer him up by taking him to a basketball game at Mingde High School. There, a little boy recognized Song Lan and clung to his legs.
Jiang Mingxi reunited with Song Lan outside school and broke down over having no mother and losing A-Wang. Song Lan comforted him while revealing his painful memories of his own mother, and the chapter ended with Jiang Mingxi insisting that Song Lan had been good.
Song Lan joined his class’s basketball tournament and, after losing the final, reunited with Jiang Mingxi, who cheered him up with candy and dinner. Years later, Jiang Mingxi recalled their high-school outing and the painful events that followed his adoption, while Song Lan regretted forgetting him.
Bai Zheming and his family prepared to celebrate their first lively Spring Festival together, inviting Song Qianshan’s friends and relatives to join them. As everyone arrived at the courtyard, the Survival Challenge director unexpectedly launched a New Year special, bringing the chapter’s ensemble cast together on camera.
