Background / History
Jinshui CP and Control of Raising House
Xie Weishui gained popularity through Jinshui CP, his fanservice pairing with Fang Jin. Their habit of cooking for each other helped the pairing break out of its original niche. Fang Jin later acknowledged that Xie Weishui had helped someone with his reserved personality stand out in Raising House 10 21.
As the house’s longest-standing resident, Xie Weishui assumed a host-like position: welcoming newcomers, organizing activities, and speaking on behalf of existing members. Behind the scenes, he held daily meetings to criticize livestream performances and assign scripts. Chi Li identified the underlying arrangement: Xie Weishui remained the protagonist while the other residents played supporting roles 6 10 15.
Xie Weishui selected Zhou Yang as a new fanservice partner and secured his opportunity to enter Raising House. Their scripted dynamic presented Zhou Yang as an adoring junior, while introducing jealousy into Xie Weishui’s established pairing with Fang Jin 9 20 34 55.
Chi Li’s Arrival
Chi Li immediately challenged Xie Weishui’s agreeable public image by giving him a large bag of green tea and explicitly calling him a “green tea.” He subsequently criticized Xie Weishui’s hosting, questioned his forced smile, and refused to attend his meetings 8 10 24 48.
Chi Li also interrupted a planned reconciliation between Xie Weishui and Fang Jin. Rather than allowing their jealousy storyline to proceed, he encouraged Fang Jin to stop accepting roles that benefited everyone except himself. Fang Jin’s unexpected willingness to befriend Zhou Yang disrupted the triangle Xie Weishui had arranged 20 21 22.
Smear Campaigns and Loss of Authority
When paid posts portraying Chi Li as ill-mannered achieved little, Xie Weishui instructed Wang Yue to connect Chi Li with popular stars and provoke their fans into attacking him. The effort failed to suppress Chi Li and instead preceded his gaining attention from Shen Qiang, leaving Xie Weishui furious that his spending had benefited his rival 37 40.
His relationship with Jinshui shippers deteriorated when he told a dissatisfied fan that he had no obligation to take responsibility for what fans imagined. He emphasized that he and Fang Jin were not actually a couple. Afterward, he offered Fang Jin the leading role in a new reconciliation script, but his nightly meetings were already losing attendees 46 47 48.
Xie Weishui then confronted Chi Li over the show’s record-breaking audience figures, claiming that the new viewers disrupted Raising House’s “ecosystem.” Chi Li rejected the lecture and demanded that he state his actual wishes instead of disguising them as concern for the program 49.
Attempts to Separate Chi Li and Shen Xunye
Xie Weishui recruited Zhou Yang to help undermine Chi Li’s pairing with Shen Xunye. After learning that Zhou Yang and Chi Li had dated, he proposed revealing signs of their former closeness without openly announcing the relationship. He offered to arrange for viewers to notice and discuss the clues 55.
The plan included borrowing Zhou Yang’s phone on camera to expose a photograph of Chi Li as its wallpaper and repeating the passcode, which Zhou Yang had changed to Chi Li’s birthday. During a later truth-or-dare game, Xie Weishui prompted Zhou Yang to reveal a secret. Zhou Yang’s ensuing account of their breakup collapsed when Chi Li exposed his lies and described his post-breakup harassment 59 64.
Xie Weishui also tried to attract Shen Qiang’s attention, wearing a black slip dress and later burying himself in Shen Qiang’s arms under the pretext of embarrassment. Jiang Lele slapped him twice, and Shen Qiang moved him to the far end of the sofa 56 57 58.
Withdrawal and Reassessment
After supporting Chen Anyan during the selection of a new permanent resident, Xie Weishui attempted to resume his script meetings. Chen Anyan challenged the approach and showed him evidence of growing audience disappointment. He warned that another promoted pairing would damage both Xie Weishui and his partner. Xie Weishui accepted that he needed to rest 83 90 91.
Later, after witnessing Chi Li and Shen Xunye embracing, Xie Weishui privately warned Chi Li that a real relationship could harm his flourishing career. Chi Li countered that Xie Weishui treated people only as useful allies or threats. Xie Weishui admitted that he had lost because he was less capable, but remained unable to understand Chi Li’s decision to date 127.
He eventually decided to wait for Chi Li to leave rather than provoke further defeats. When reporter Chen Hao tried to exploit their conflict, Xie Weishui instead performed a carefully prepared account of having recognized his mistakes, using the interview to rehabilitate his image 128 131.
Chi Li’s Farewell
By Chi Li’s final day, Gao Yuan observed that Xie Weishui had stopped causing trouble. Xie Weishui cooked alongside Fang Jin for the farewell banquet and planned hangover soup because Gu Nan had brought considerable alcohol 154.
At the gathering, he admitted feeling threatened by Chi Li and apologized for his attempts to reclaim attention. Chi Li replied that Xie Weishui had caused him no damage and should apologize to his former fans instead 157 158.
Appearance
- Build: Has slender collarbones and straight lower legs, described during his cross-dressing appearance 56.
- On-camera expression: Frequently maintains a composed smile; Chi Li compares his forced smile to a mannequin’s 9 24.
- Cross-dressing outfit: Wears a lace-trimmed black slip dress ending at mid-thigh, accompanied by a dark chestnut curly wig reaching his shoulder blades 56.
Personality
Xie Weishui cultivates an image of gentleness, generosity, and consideration. He welcomes newcomers warmly, mediates group interactions, and presents his authority as the responsibility of an experienced senior. Gao Yuan, however, describes him as a completely different person off camera 6 15.
His central motivation is attention. Unlike Fang Jin, whose priority is music and the stage, Xie Weishui prefers being the “center of the world.” He treats relationships strategically, believing that shared interests are more dependable than friendship. Chi Li’s refusal to accept his authority exposes both his jealousy and his dependence on controlling the surrounding narrative 20 49 127.
He is adaptable rather than easily discouraged: he revises failed scripts, changes prospective partners, and prepares emotional performances in advance. His later restraint is partly pragmatic, since further attacks would damage his own image. Although he eventually apologizes, his farewell explanation is explicitly described as mixing truth with lies, leaving the extent of his reform uncertain 47 128 131 157 158.
