Background / History

Early Life at Raising House

Jiang Lele is already a Raising House resident when Shen Xunye and Chi Li arrive. Initially conscious of his relatively low popularity, he regards himself as a minor participant overshadowed by the house’s more prominent members. When he tries to defend a friend against Chi Li, he receives a pointed welcome gift: a small packet of green tea 6 8.

Lele hopes to establish a CP pairing, first pursuing Fang Jin and then Shen Xunye. His interest in Shen Xunye leaves him jealous of Chi Li—not merely for attracting Shen Xunye’s attention, but for his looks, voice, talent, and ability to live without constantly pleasing others. Lele privately feels that he should have been able to live like Chi Li 23 32 92.

Shen Qiang’s Visit

A devoted fan of Shen Qiang’s films, Lele buys new clothes and wears a fitted suit to welcome him. He enthusiastically introduces himself as an aspiring singer and offers to show his idol around the house 55 56 57 58.

Believing Shen Qiang likes Chi Li, Lele begins promoting a relationship between them. His motives combine genuine enthusiasm for his idol with the hope that Chi Li’s departure would reopen the possibility of pairing with Shen Xunye. He praises Shen Qiang to Chi Li and tries to persuade him to consider dating him, but Chi Li explains that admiration and willingness cannot substitute for genuine romantic attraction 58 59 60.

During the visit, Lele deliberately slaps Xie Weishui twice. Shen Qiang intervenes, tells him to use words rather than his hands, and offers to apologize on his behalf. Chi Li’s subsequent confrontation with Xie Weishui strengthens Lele’s admiration for him 58 59.

Learning About Chi Li and Shen Xunye

Lele secretly photographs Shen Qiang and Chi Li together, hoping to show the pictures to his idol. Shen Xunye catches him and insists that he delete them permanently, including the copies in Recently Deleted 75 76.

Later, Lele eavesdrops on Chi Li and Shen Xunye while looking for information that might help Shen Qiang. Their conversation convinces him that they are already dating. Shen Xunye exploits his resulting guilt, presenting himself as an anxious boyfriend who needs help protecting his relationship. Lele reluctantly agrees to assist him and abandons his matchmaking efforts 81 82.

Chen Anyan’s Flirting

During the selection of a new resident, Chen Anyan kneels before Lele, presses Lele’s hand to his cheek, and flirts with him to attract attention and votes. Lele is visibly overwhelmed despite insisting that he has not been seduced. Shen Qiang intervenes and warns him that Chen Anyan is clearly practiced at this behavior 84.

Chen Anyan’s private apology and continued sweet-talk soften Lele further. However, Lele later suspects that the supposedly homemade pickles Chen Anyan brought as gifts were bought online. He purchases matching pickles and takes them to Chi Li, intending to expose the deception 85 86 91 92.

Chi Li advises him against a confrontation and suggests turning Chen Anyan’s CP promotion to his own advantage. Lele remains uncomfortable with the idea of pairing with someone he distrusts. His attraction subsequently weakens, and when Chen Anyan allows Su Yuan to stay overnight, Lele rejects his concern as unnecessary once the cameras are off 92 101.

Training and the Concert Opportunity

Lele initially struggles with Jiang Yue’s intensive training, collapsing during dance practice and complaining that his bones are creaking. By the end of the visit, however, he finds measurable improvement deeply rewarding and wishes Jiang Yue could stay longer. He recognizes that he would likely become lax without supervision, prompting Chi Li to suggest recruiting career-focused fans to hold him accountable 108 110 120.

After Jiang Yue invites the group to perform at his concert, Lele begins planning healthier meals, exercise, stage outfits, and skincare. He helps adapt the group’s subsequent practice schedule around Raising House duties, while the residents agree to focus on individual weaknesses and seek Chi Li’s help when needed 121 122.

Defending Chi Li

When Chen Hao selects Lele as an supposedly easy interview target, Lele follows Chi Li’s advice: play dumb, answer selectively, and turn questions back on the interviewer. He frustrates Chen Hao’s attempt to provoke criticism of Chi Li, eventually responding to an insult by offering to buy Chi Li a formal hat 130 131.

Lele’s loyalty also overrides his earlier hopes for Shen Qiang and Chi Li. When misleading coverage suggests that Shen Qiang has displaced Shen Xunye, Lele is disturbed by the apparent interference in an existing relationship. He challenges Shen Xunye over the supposed breakup, then receives Chi Li’s personal confirmation that they are still together 140 141 142.

When Chen Hao later insults Chi Li, Lele confronts him and delivers two slaps after the livestream ends. Chi Li stops him from striking again 145 146.

Chi Li’s Departure

While Chi Li’s career grows busier, Lele takes responsibility for his vegetable patch and expands it to more than three times its former size. On Chi Li’s final day at Raising House, they harvest vegetables together, and Lele complains that the other residents—especially Gu Nan—keep stealing his produce 153.

At the farewell dinner, a drunken Lele proudly declares that he was clever to have followed Chi Li early on, then enthusiastically praises Fang Jin as well 158.

Lele initially presents himself with a deliberately cute singing voice and often becomes hesitant when facing criticism or stronger personalities. He gradually adopts a more outspoken manner, explicitly deciding that he wants to say what he thinks. By Chen Anyan’s arrival, he considers himself no longer the timid pushover he once was, although Chi Li and Shen Xunye remain exceptions to his newfound boldness 9 42 84.

Despite his interest in CP promotion, Lele is inexperienced in romance. He admits that he has not had his first kiss, becomes flustered by Chen Anyan’s direct flirting, and repeatedly denies having feelings when others notice his reaction. His wish for a marketable pairing does not entirely override his discomfort with being manipulated 63 84 86 92.

His growing loyalty is accompanied by a stronger sense of boundaries. He advises a viewer against tolerating an unfaithful boyfriend and firmly insists that Su Yuan must accept Jiang Yue’s rejection. Even while angry at Chen Anyan, he hesitates when Chi Li jokingly offers a possible innocent explanation for the pickles, unwilling to accuse someone falsely 45 92 105.
