The Pope from Ten Thousand Years Ago
Just as Huo Yuhao hesitated, Zhongli Yu, with whom he had shared a kiss the previous night, walked over. She gently straightened the collar at his chest and looked at him with sultry eyes. "Yuhao, if you can pass the Rakshasa Godhood inheritance, you will surely lead our Holy Spirit Cult to an unreachable height in the future. When that time comes, every woman on this continent will be yours to choose from."
So close to her, Huo Yuhao could still smell that familiar, intoxicating fragrance.
"I'd brave boiling water and blazing fire for the Holy Maiden!"
"I, Huo Yuhao, will certainly do everything in my power to pass the Rakshasa inheritance and strengthen our Holy Spirit Cult. It is my duty!" Huo Yuhao's face turned solemn, carrying the tragic resolve of a man ready to die for one who understood him. His rigidly earnest expression left Zhongli Wu and the elders staring blankly, inwardly exclaiming in disbelief.
We get it now. This kid was the horny type, wasn't he?
"Ahem." Having finally seen through the boy's nature, Zhongli Wu was speechless, yet at least Zhongli Yu could use this to keep this immensely promising youngster tied down. After two dry coughs, he said, "I shall now take you into the inheritance grounds. May the Holy Son achieve godhood in the future and protect our Holy Spirit Cult!"
Zhongli Wu caught Huo Yuhao with one hand and leaped into the abyss, vanishing from the sight of the others. Several Holy Spirit Cult elders exchanged looks before turning their gazes toward Zhongli Yu.
The Cult Master's granddaughter must have fed that bargain-bin Holy Son some enchanted soup already, hadn't she?
Under the gazes of several elders, even someone as uninhibited as Zhongli Yu could not help blushing. Fortunately, everyone knew the boy was still young. Even if she wanted to, she could not do anything with him.
"..."
As Huo Yuhao and Zhongli Wu fell, the latter could not help patiently advising him, "Yuhao, I know young people are full of energy, but you must exercise restraint in certain matters from now on. You absolutely cannot let romantic entanglements delay your cultivation."
"I understand, Grandpa Cult Master," Huo Yuhao answered with a serious face.
Grandpa? Zhongli Wu's face immediately twisted. He nearly could not stop himself from giving Huo Yuhao a knock on the head. This brat really knew how to climb once given a ladder. He was no longer worried about whether his granddaughter could hold this fellow's heart. Instead, he was worried whether, once the latter came of age, his granddaughter could handle him.
Seeing that his lecherous persona had been firmly established, Huo Yuhao stopped overdoing the act. All he needed now was an opportunity to escape this perilous place.
With his all-knowing perspective, as long as he did not catch God King Tang's attention, he could thrive effortlessly on the Douluo Continent.
After several minutes or so, the two finally arrived at the very bottom of the abyss.
Before them stood an exceptionally vast altar. At its center rose a Rakshasa Divine Statue roughly ten thousand zhang tall, its upper body concealed amid the dim light of Lighting Soul Tools. It radiated a terrifying, sinister aura that chilled one to the bone.
"So this is the Rakshasa God." Huo Yuhao swallowed with difficulty. Even with the courage granted by his transmigrator's all-knowing perspective, his scalp went numb at that moment.
It was merely a stone statue, yet the terrifying aura it emitted was not something an ordinary Titled Douluo could possibly shake.
After several thousand years of crustal movement, this Rakshasa Divine Statue had arrived here, bestowing the Holy Spirit Cult with its powerful inheritance.
"With just one more step, I will enter the rank of Limit Douluo and become the chief priest of the Rakshasa God inheritance." Zhongli Wu's voice rang out faintly. "At that time, even those people from Shrek will not be able to do anything to our Holy Spirit Cult."
Huo Yuhao subtly curled his lips. If you truly became invincible on the continent, Great God-King Tang could reduce you to ashes with a single Divine Punishment. Not to mention that his parents had become the Plane Master and Ancient Life Tree of the continent; all of this had long been recorded in the original work.
Even when the Soul Land God Realm encountered Space-Time Turbulence and was forced to drift away, nearly a thousand years had already passed on the continent. Without the Immortal Spirit Qi of the God Realm, even quasi-god Titled Douluos only lived several hundred years at most. How could Zhongli Wu possibly survive until then?
Then came the era of Legend of the Dragon King ten thousand years later. Somehow, the remnants of the Holy Spirit Cult found that Million years demon whale whose husband had died, and only then did they gain the strength to contend with Shrek and Tang San's son.
"Yuhao, step forward." Zhongli Wu raised a hand and channeled Soul Power toward the Rakshasa Divine Statue. A wisp of ghastly green energy drifted from the statue and flowed toward Zhongli Wu's palm.
Huo Yuhao had no way to refuse. He could only step forward obediently and accept the Rakshasa God inheritance.
Though the Rakshasa God was restrained by the Asura God, her overall strength still surpassed that of the God of Emotion. Otherwise, she could never have suppressed Tang San when he possessed only the Sea God godhood.
If I ever become a god, I'll have to find a way to break Asura's restraint over Rakshasa! Huo Yuhao thought.
While Huo Yuhao's mind wandered, that wisp of ghastly green energy passed through Zhongli Wu's hand and transferred to Huo Yuhao.
Boom...
Just as the strange energy wrapped around Huo Yuhao, the enormous Rakshasa Divine Statue actually began to tremble faintly.
"What is this?" Zhongli Wu's expression changed drastically. The Rakshasa Divine Statue had been deep underground for far more than a day or two. Every high-ranking member of the Holy Spirit Cult had come here to absorb Rakshasa Divine Power, yet an unexpected change had occurred today.
Whoosh!
The entire statue erupted with dazzling ghastly green light. The terrifying divine power forced even the level-ninety-eight Zhongli Wu to his knees.
"The Rakshasa God has manifested!" Several Holy Spirit Cult elders above changed color at once. They exchanged looks, all of them ecstatic.
"As expected of the Holy Son!"
Zhongli Yu likewise parted her rosy lips slightly, her face full of surprise. As the First Holy Maiden, it was not as though she had never gone down to undergo the Rakshasa God inheritance trial. However, like everyone else, she had only gained a small amount of Rakshasa Divine Power and one God-bestowed Soul Ring. Now over twenty years old, her Soul Power cultivation had already broken through to Soul Douluo. Compared to the Senior Sister of Shrek Inner Court, she was in no way inferior.
"I underestimated that boy."
Zhongli Yu had initially resisted becoming a woman meant to win Huo Yuhao over. In her eyes, the currently weak and ordinary-looking Huo Yuhao was not worthy of her, even if he had awakened with Innate Level 30 Soul Power.
Recalling her boldness the night before, Zhongli Yu could not help flushing. Though she was more than ten years older than that boy, becoming a god's companion would not be a loss...
While the Holy Spirit Cult's upper echelon began harboring all sorts of thoughts over the statue's transformation, Huo Yuhao had already arrived in a bizarre and dazzling space. Here, there were only colors representing negative energy, and his vision was greatly restricted.
"Is this the Rakshasa God inheritance grounds?" Huo Yuhao surveyed his surroundings with difficulty. The aura of slaughter and Bloodlust gradually filled his heart with ferocity.
"This is the Rakshasa Domain. Welcome, visitor from another land."
Just as Huo Yuhao looked around, a noble and cold female voice rang through the space. When her final words fell, Huo Yuhao's expression changed abruptly. His identity as a transmigrator had been seen through so easily?
"There is no need for surprise. With your spiritual cultivation at the Spirit Abyss Realm, how could you possibly resist a god's Divine Sense?" the female voice sounded again.
"A god's Divine Sense?" Huo Yuhao felt as though he had nowhere to hide. Recalling the original work, he seemed to think of something and blurted out, "Rakshasa God Bibi Dong, you're not dead?"
"It has been a very long time since anyone called me by my true name."
Before Huo Yuhao, countless dark energies gathered into a humanoid form. A woman appeared, her entire body covered in armor gleaming with dark purple light. Her face was bluish purple, and her features were savage. She was none other than the former empress of the Spirit Hall Empire, Bibi Dong. More precisely, she was the Rakshasa God, Bibi Dong.
"You seem to know the past and the future." A trace of surprise appeared on Bibi Dong's savage face. "Strange. Even I cannot completely read your memories."
Huo Yuhao looked at the woman before him, who radiated a horrifying aura. Though stunned, he did not seem panicked. If this divine consciousness before him had truly been left behind by Rakshasa God Bibi Dong, he would have had no chance to struggle at all.
He had not expected it to be that woman who had gone mad for love. Her divine consciousness and soul had actually remained in the world.
A woman like Bibi Dong should have been the Holy Maiden of Spirit Hall, revered and worshipped by all. Yet her teacher had taken a liking to her talent for Twin Martial Souls. Within an illusion, she fell in love with a worthless man she should never have loved, only to be ruthlessly torn apart from him. Then she lost her chastity, and in the end, the illusion shattered. Everything had been Qian Xunji's design. For the great cause of Spirit Hall, he had personally destroyed every shred of his disciple's dignity.
Qian Xunji had been waiting—waiting for her to grow stronger, waiting for her bloodline to purify after she broke through to Soul Sage. The offspring born from them would surely cast off every flaw of the Angel Martial Soul and gain the most perfect Angel Martial Soul. It would be a Martial Soul qualified to advance to the Angel God.
Years later, when she finally wrapped Qian Xunji's body in her Soul Devouring Poison Silk and drove her sharp nails into his chest, the release and joy she had expected never came. Even as he died, he retained that confident expression. Because everything was still developing according to the path he had planned. His eyes began to burn with fanaticism, while Bibi Dong's eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
Later, her biological daughter regarded her as an irreconcilable enemy. The empire she had struggled so hard to build was destroyed on the eve of her successful revenge. The godhood she had achieved through her talent and effort was shattered by her opponent due to the God Realm's deliberate favoritism. Only at the end of her life did she have a chance to reveal the truth behind the tragedy.
This was also one of the characters Huo Yuhao had felt most bitterly for when he had read this work and its later additions.
"You actually left behind a wisp of divine consciousness."
Even now that Huo Yuhao had truly seen the remnant soul of the real person, he still could not imagine the miserable life the woman before him had lived.
"So it really was you..."
"Boy, when death is at your door, you should worry about yourself first!" Bibi Dong had remained connected to Huo Yuhao's Sea of Spirit and instantly read the complicated emotions in his eyes. She froze for a moment, then her emotions violently surged as she sent Huo Yuhao flying dozens of meters with one strike.
Huo Yuhao was sent flying and felt as though his Sea of Spirit was about to shatter. Yet he still stubbornly straightened himself and climbed back up, his gaze toward Bibi Dong unchanged.
"Wait, Rakshasa God Bibi Dong. I think I can help you." Enduring the agonizing pain throughout his Bones, Huo Yuhao spoke softly.
"Fine. Then give your life to me." Holding the Rakshasa Demon Scythe, Bibi Dong instantly appeared before Huo Yuhao. The long blade fell and pierced straight through Huo Yuhao's chest.
Huo Yuhao suffered a heavy blow, but his face remained calm. "Like you, I already died once. Death is nothing more than that."
"You do not need to conceal yourself behind cruelty and resentment. The more hatred and venom you display, the more fragile your heart truly is beneath it all." Huo Yuhao's face was deathly pale, yet the complicated emotions in his eyes did not fade in the slightest. He gently gripped the Rakshasa Demon Scythe embedded in his chest, letting its sharp blade slice his skin. Through his contact with the scythe's shaft, he finally caught a trace of Bibi Dong's fragile emotions, buried beneath her ultimate hatred and evil intent.
"Boy, do you think saying such things will move me?" Bibi Dong looked down at Huo Yuhao, nailed to the ground by the demon scythe, and sneered. Her tone grew ever more venomous. "As long as I seize your body, given enough time, I can return to my peak! I can avenge my grievances! I can take revenge on the entire continent and the God Realm!"
Seeing Bibi Dong remain so obstinate, Huo Yuhao shook his head. He knew that if he could not communicate normally with Bibi Dong, his story in this transmigrated world would end here.
This was the second dangerous hurdle he had encountered since transmigrating.
"I am within the Rakshasa inheritance, and you are connected to my Sea of Spirit. You can see every memory from my previous life, right?" Huo Yuhao asked with a bitter smile.
"Including the later story of the Douluo Plane that I know—you can see all of it, can't you?"
Bibi Dong's expression shifted slightly. Earlier, she had only glanced through a small portion of Huo Yuhao's memories. Hearing him say this, her interest in examining them closely was immediately stirred.
"Boy, do not try to deceive me. Otherwise, I will tear your soul apart inch by inch!"
"What? Does the empress who once looked down upon the world not dare delve into the memories of a mere Soul Scholar like me?" Huo Yuhao was gambling—gambling that Bibi Dong would be willing to examine his memories and believe the later Douluo story within them.
After pondering for a moment, Bibi Dong extended a slender jade hand and lightly tapped Huo Yuhao's head. His flood-like memories transformed into a book that hovered in her palm. She began flipping through it with interest, though the speed at which she read was comparable to the quantum reading Huo Yuhao had seen in his previous life...
A moment later, Bibi Dong's expression gradually changed. It could even be described as extraordinarily vivid.
"Now you understand, right? If I cannot change history during the era of the Unrivaled Tang Sect, then once God King Tang weathers the Space-Time Turbulence and returns with the Great God Circle, along with his Dragon God grandson recognized by Cosmic Law, you will have no chance of victory against the God Realm," Huo Yuhao reminded her through gritted teeth.
As for Bibi Dong's ending in Soul Land I, this is how I understand it personally. In the God Realm, the former Asura God and Sea God Poseidon, those two old schemers, truly stopped at nothing for Tang San's final victory. Not only did they invite other gods to revive him, they even threw in the Asura Godhood as a bonus. They really arranged everything perfectly against Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue, who had become gods through their own efforts.
Furthermore, to readers who criticize Bibi Dong as a love-brained lunatic, the author asks: Have you read the side story Sanshui released in 2023? On the Douluo Continent, could any exceptionally talented girl possibly fall in love with trash like Yu Xiaogang? The side story explained that everything from their meeting and romance to their separation, and even that useless man falling for his cousin, had been deliberately arranged by Qian Xunji through illusions. It was only that Bibi Dong's final revenge was just as extreme as this novel's male protagonist.
The most frustrating thing for us fanfiction writers is the original author's own settings. Years ago, we cursed Bibi Dong along with everyone else, but now he pulls something like this. Most fanfiction characterizations are based on the original work's settings.
The Bibi Dong side story is on Tieba. Go find it yourselves. Those who say it is disgusting for the author to whitewash her should go let Sanshui disgust your childhood first. I did not whitewash her—the original author did it himself!
If I see any clueless readers who have not read the side story's new settings coming here to curse in the future, then, so as not to affect other readers' moods, I will ban and delete them one by one. You have not even finished reading Sanshui's bizarre original settings, so what are you trying to argue here with people who have read them and been disgusted by them?
