Ron had only experienced fragmented gameplay on other people's phones, but now that he had the Magic Mobile Phone, he was determined to immerse himself in the game all over again.
Wizard Legend, Begin!
As the first game on Magic Mobile Phone, it wasn't just Lorne who had a special feeling about it; even Harry, Draco, and the other first people to own Magic Mobile Phone felt the same way. Even during periods without events, they would still log in to see their favorite characters.
Ron was the same way. The account he first created on Harry's phone was his favorite. Even though that account was still stuck in the starting area, it didn't stop him from checking it every now and then, even if he didn't do anything.
That was his first encounter with the Magic Mobile Phone.
The familiar train, the familiar three stray dogs, the familiar village... Ron couldn't help but get excited every time he opened a familiar location, feeling like he was reuniting with a long-lost friend. He twisted and turned on the bed, occasionally letting out a sharp popping sound.
"That's it," Ron said, staring at his phone screen. "This is the life I've always dreamed of."
Ron also noticed some changes to the game's tutorial. For example, during cutscenes, there would be a sudden flash of the House-elf Yaoyao inside a carriage, and sometimes the scene would abruptly change, allowing players to hear Morgana's cryptic Prophecy in a dark, chaotic environment. Most impressively, Ella Thornwood, the first to arrive to the rescue, was wearing a skin in the very first combat demonstration!
Compared to her radiant beauty and flowing robes, his own character standing next to her looked like a savage.
After completing the tutorial, an event would be unlocked. Ron eagerly opened the announcement and found that the game updates were so numerous that, in addition to numerical modifications, skins, and story progression, even the in-game mini-games had been updated.
What game? He's never seen Harry play it.
Ron immediately started searching and finally found the entrance on the permanent events page. The dazzling array of mini-games inside made Ron's eyes light up, as if he had discovered that his favorite novel had a second book.
" Merchant Simulation? This damn Slytherin game, I have to get first place today."
"What is this? Three identical patterns placed together can eliminate each other and increase the score? It seems a bit too easy for me, isn't it a piece of cake?"
"Fishing? What's so fun about fishing?"
"..."
Ron's main quest got stuck at the moment the Troll fell. It wasn't because he lacked strength or time; it was simply because he became obsessed with the mini-games built into The Wizard Legend. He even searched for walkthroughs on forums and discovered that some of these mini-games required completing side quests to unlock.
Ron spent the most time on the fishing mini-game. This game didn't require much skill; you just needed to increase your magic output when the pointer moved back and forth into the orange bar. The screen would vibrate and the image would zoom in and out, which simulated the fishing scene and the exertion of force quite well. But these weren't the reasons why Ron was so engrossed in it.
Nothing more than another illustrated guide.
After collecting all the fish in one area, you can move on to the next area to fish. Ron was curious to see what these colorful fish looked like, especially since they had such strange names like "Long-legged Four-mouthed Shark." The feedback from collecting the fish in the encyclopedia and weighing them gave him a constant sense of satisfaction, and he couldn't tear himself away from the task for a while.
When Ginny called Ron to dinner, he was standing on the bed, mimicking a tug-of-war with his Magic Mobile Phone.
"What are you doing?" Ginny exclaimed. "Mom didn't buy the Magic Mobile Phone so you could fight with it."
Ron immediately sat up straight. "Huh? Oh... I was too engrossed in it just now. What's wrong, Ginny? Do you want to play for a while?"
Ginny shook her head. "It's nothing, it's just time for dinner."
Ron turned to look out the window. He remembered he had just eaten lunch; how could it be dinnertime so soon? Time seemed to Apparition, always catching him off guard.
Ron didn't use his phone tonight because he had serious business to attend to.
Test drive of a flying airplane!
Although he didn't take Muggle Studies, Ron knew that Muggle planes could fly, and he was curious to know what his father had created with all that effort.
As darkness fell, five figures stealthily slipped out the door.
"Shh—" Arthur bent down and turned his head, "Keep your footsteps down, don't let your mother hear you, or she'll definitely stop supporting me. Luckily, Director Lorne gave me a good job, otherwise you'd never see the day she actually agreed to let me use the money to buy parts."
"We know, Dad," Fred suddenly whispered, "you said you were going to buy gears for the Magic Mobile Phone, but you actually spent it all on this plane. If you don't give me more allowance—"
"Stop, Fred," Arthur interrupted immediately. "You know this isn't my responsibility. We can talk about it tomorrow. Right now, the most important thing is for you to know what a magnificent work I've created—"
Before they knew it, the group had made their way from the front yard to the workshop. Arthur ripped off the curtain and showed the children his research findings. Although he kept his voice down, his excitement and enthusiasm were palpable.
"Ta-da! Flying airplane!"
To everyone else, a gigantic, grayish-brown machine gleamed with a metallic sheen. It resembled a Muggle space shuttle, but its wings were adorned with numerous bionic feathers, and its windows and windshield looked more like those of a car. Crucially, the two rearview mirrors looked strangely familiar...
"Dad, you took the car apart?" Ron exclaimed in surprise. "I just learned to drive a car."
"You can't, Ron," Arthur corrected. "You can only drive because my car can drive itself, but this plane can not only drive itself, it can also do it Silencio and cruise at a constant speed."
Arthur went on and on. "With it, our family can even travel across the ocean to Egypt, to Romania, to anywhere we want to go, as long as we've given them permission."
"Most importantly, I've equipped it with summoning powder," Arthur said proudly, waving the small bottle in his hand. "Just toss it into the fireplace like you would with Floo Powder, and my plane will automatically fly to the fireplace's location."
Fred and George's eyes lit up. "Even Hogwarts?"
They even imagined themselves flying home in front of everyone at the end of the semester; it would feel amazing.
But Arthur shook his head. "As far as I know, the fireplaces at Hogwarts aren't connected to the Floo Network yet. The closest Floo Network to the school is at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade."
"Before that, perhaps I can show you something new today. Come on, who wants to sit in the driver's seat?"
"Me! Me! Me!" four voices cried out in unison.
