On an ordinary day, Lorne was resting in bed when he opened his system taskbar as usual.
[Task: Gather the Power of Emotion of those like you]
[Progress: 1526/1500]
[Reward: A new rare item slot has been added to the shop]
[Rare Items Section Effect: Refreshes daily at midnight. Rare items are randomly selected from those not currently displayed in the shop, including higher-level books, Potions, and finished alchemy items.]
[You have completed the current task. Would you like to claim your reward: One rare item slot?]
[Ding! Claim successful]
It was as if nothing had happened.
Lorne browsed through the system shop. Unlike the other simple blue icons, the Rare Items section was at the top of all the shop icons, emitting a faint golden glow.
He couldn't wait to check out today's special items.
" Decayed Time-Turner?"
Lorne murmured doubtfully. He knew about the Time-Turner, but what about the decayed version?
[Having trapped three people in time, and also rescued one person from time, one can exchange their past time for dimensional travel. Remaining exchangeable time: 1 year; exchange ratio: 1 year to 10 minutes]
[Friendly reminder: The Time-Turner will still function as intended, but it is likely to malfunction. Use with caution.]
Lorne fell silent. A year for ten minutes? Was that exchange rate for real?
It took him two minutes to read that passage over and over again.
Furthermore, how can products that might have problems be sold? Isn't the system afraid that its esteemed host will die a violent death due to time magic?
The system probably knows this isn't a good product, hence the price of only twenty points of Power of Emotion.
Having just achieved the system's goal today, it's not unreasonable to splurge a little. Besides, twenty points of Power of Emotion are equivalent to the price of two Magic Mobile Phone —why not buy it?
Thinking back to the promise he made to customers when he opened the shop that he would restock next month, Lorne reluctantly spent 1,000 points of Power of Emotion to buy 100 Magic Mobile Phone, hoping to silence the gossip.
Before making any purchases, Lorne didn't forget to check his system tasks. He was now eagerly anticipating whether the next task reward would be a discount coupon.
Unfortunately, no.
[Task: Gather the Power of Emotion of those like you]
[Progress: 506/3000]
[Reward: 1 random modified spell, Adult Auror Realm]
Although it wasn't a discount coupon, Lorne was still very satisfied with the reward. It was the total amount of magic power and spell rewards he had been longing for, and he couldn't wait to work hard to improve himself.
Dumbledore has been away from Hogwarts recently, and Lorne hasn't even had a chance to report on Lockhart's achievements.
After asking Professor McGonagall for leave, Lorne posted a leave notice in the General Affairs Office, preparing to return to the Magic Mobile Phone Shop.
He wanted to take the newly bought Magic Mobile Phone back with him.
He doesn't plan to get involved in the actual sales process; Lorne is just going to act as a hands-off boss, handling restocking.
The arcade machines in the Magic Mobile Phone store were still packed with people. Unlike last time, the chairs on the arcade machines had been replaced with two-seater sofas, and a spectator area had been set up behind the sofas, which was probably Quirrell's doing.
Lorne handed over full control of the store to Quirrell, leaving him to handle all routine facility procurement and marketing adjustments. After all, a good boss is one who knows how to delegate authority.
As soon as he entered, Quirrell, who was sitting at the front desk, immediately came to greet him.
Lorne gestured, indicating that they could talk further upstairs.
The two went upstairs to the office and called over Sains had been working all night changing the values.
"How have you been lately?" Lorne took a sip of tea and crossed his legs.
Quirrell beamed. "Everything's great. Since we started offering paid access, customers have been coming even more frequently. I asked some of them, and they said they feel like they only get an equal exchange if they pay Galleon."
"Regarding the Magic Mobile Phone for sale, I get asked every day if the restock has arrived and I'm asked to keep an eye out for notifications. I wonder how many Magic Mobile Phone we'll be able to produce this time."
Lorne said helplessly, "I came here specifically to deliver the Magic Mobile Phone, but there are only a hundred available right now. So, the usual rule applies: those who have already bought them can't buy any more. The worst-case scenario is that I have to deliver a hundred every month."
One hundred units are indeed a drop in the bucket for the Magic Mobile Phone Shop. After all, even with a limit of one unit per household, demand still exceeds supply. Lorne can imagine how big the current shortage is.
The Daily Prophet also claimed they were masters of "hunger marketing," but in reality, they were truly out of options.
Sains also happily reported on his situation, "Currently, the character stats in the two games are basically balanced, and the hype surrounding the redemption codes has been very successful. Many Pure-blood families are now buying up cards and redemption codes, and the price of a single card on the market has been driven up to the unit of Galleon."
Lorne frowned; he hadn't expected these Pure-blood to be so crazy.
He didn't think Pure-blood would acquire something that was of no benefit to the family. He could understand it if it were done in an individual's name, but it was a bit strange that many Pure-blood families were acquiring it together.
Lorne knew a little about the bubble economy, and he didn't want to ruin other people's lives because of his own cleverness.
"Then let's take advantage of the second sale this month to hold another lucky draw event, and at the same time open the sale of cards, with official pricing, and the redemption codes can be directly exchanged for in-game currency instead of character characters, at a ratio of 10 to 1."
Street Wizard Fighter hasn't enabled the redemption code function yet, and Sains knows that Lorne is referring to Wizard Legend.
Sains, who has been spending almost every day in it lately, couldn't help but question, "Ten Galleon for one Crystal Shard?"
Lorne stared at Sains in disbelief; if they dared to do that, they'd be hanged from a lamppost tomorrow.
It's even more outrageous than Decayed Time-Turner.
"One Silver Sickle be exchanged for ten crystal shards," Lorne said, his eyes filled with pity as he looked at Sains. "I will also increase the production of crystal shards in the game to create the illusion of excellent Fawley."
"But with such low prices, what if they buy all the characters? How will they sell the redemption codes then?" Sains couldn't help but offer his suggestion.
Lorne chuckled dismissively, stood up, and patted Sains on the shoulder. "Getting a character isn't the end. We can set it up so that you only get an enhanced version of a character if you draw them repeatedly, or equip characters with exclusive accessories, weapons, and items. Then we can increase the difficulty of the monsters, add a rating system and reward feedback, and we won't have to worry about them not spending money."
"You can also lower the gacha rates, and then post things in the game like you got two gold cards in ten pulls today or had a full set of 100 pulls, making them mistakenly think it's just bad luck."
"Furthermore, with currency, we can sell exclusive gift packs, such as a monthly card that allows you to collect a few crystal fragments every day after purchasing it..."
Sains swallowed hard. He looked at Lorne, who was rambling on about the game's direction, and felt like he was looking at a devil.
