We need to mobilize all professors and students, House Points, make it colorful and interesting, proceed step by step, uncover the truth Chamber of Secrets, and even trace back to the source to clear Hagrid's name.
Lorne felt his salary should double this year, Dumbledore should award him a medal at the end-of-term party.
Lorne was completely absorbed in the event planning before the holiday ended.
The discovery of the Chamber of Secrets this year has further deepened the antagonism between Pure-blood and Muggle, leading to considerable criticism of Slytherin among Muggle-born to the other three houses. Meanwhile, Gryffindor's reputation has steadily declined due to the uncertainty surrounding Harry's successor.
Although the Four Houses have not yet reached the point of being at odds with each other, there is already a trend of them becoming increasingly distant and aloof.
Lorne had already made up his mind—an exploration activity involving cross-college teams and collaborative teamwork.
Similar to later Chamber of Secrets adventures, it incorporates themes of teamwork, breaking down prejudice and rumors, and pursuing the truth.
Lorne wrote furiously.
At the beginning of 1993, Hogwarts was covered in snow, and the young wizards, having reunited with their families, returned to school.
"Classes suspended..."
Neville, wearing a thick woolen earmuff, stood in front of the notice board in the common room, where a "Notice of School Closure" with a red exclamation mark was posted in the center.
Percy, who had rushed to the professor's office as soon as he entered the school gate, hurried back. He stood at the top of the stairs, straightening his tie. "Attention students, the school has decided to temporarily suspend classes. Further arrangements will be announced in the Great Hall tonight during dinner."
"What?! How can this be?!" Hermione cried out sharply from the crowd.
Professor McGonagall had the same reaction.
At this moment, Dumbledore, the heads of the Four Houses, and teachers from various subjects were all seated in the Headmaster's Office. Lorne sat opposite Dumbledore and took out his event planning document that he always carried with him.
" Professor McGonagall once told me that if a monster from the Chamber of Secrets attacked students, Hogwarts would have to close for a period of time. So why did we still choose to suspend classes and rectify the school's atmosphere after Professor Dumbledore and I resolved the crisis? There are three reasons."
"First, students lack the ability and character to pursue the truth; they simply parrot others and blindly follow the crowd. They don't realize how much trouble their embellished descriptions and unfounded speculations can cause to those involved. I can almost picture what it would be like for them after they take up positions at the Ministry of Magic. Hogwarts is a place for teaching and nurturing, not a rehearsal for workplace bullying."
"Secondly, the deep-seated problems of departmental rivalry are difficult to eradicate. It's almost universally acknowledged that the houses at Hogwarts are irreconcilably opposed, but I believe the founders divided the house into four houses not to seize territory, but to provide individualized instruction and allow students to learn from each other. The professors' lectures only address the symptoms, not the root cause. Organizing an event that helps them recognize their own house's weaknesses and the strengths of other houses will make it easier for students to learn from each other and develop holistically."
"Third, suspending classes does not mean stopping learning. Theory is no substitute for practice; true understanding comes from hands-on experience. The application of classroom techniques is different from their application in real-world situations. I also call on professors from all disciplines to brainstorm and design diverse assessment challenges for this activity."
"In summary..."
Lorne's proposal was eloquent and well-written, and even Snape applauded him without batting an eye.
"Your eloquence is breathtaking; I almost thought this was your campaign speech for becoming Minister for Magic."
"I can't think of a reason to refuse if I don't have to deal with students who are as stupid as Troll. But everything you said is based on the premise that your arrogant and arbitrary judgments about everyone are absolutely accurate, not on an information gap where you already know the truth."
Lorne shook his head. "We don't need to know the truth. The ultimate goal of this activity is not to uncover the truth, but to instill a correct sense of truth and falsehood in the students."
Professor Binns readily agreed, "Authenticity is also a lifelong pursuit of the discipline of history."
Professor McGonagall paused for a moment, then asked, "Will the students be in danger?"
"It won't be more dangerous than Quidditch," Lorne said sincerely. He couldn't guarantee that no accidents would happen, but he was certain that no student would lose a bone.
As evening approached, darkness fell.
At the Hogwarts dinner party, the students, unaware of the impending storm, were still excitedly discussing the "class closure notice" they had seen in the common room.
Dumbledore tapped his finger lightly on the table, his voice authoritative. " Quiet."
"After discussion among the school's professors, it has been decided that Hogwarts will be closed for the new year and will be reorganized. The specific arrangements will be announced by Director Miles."
Lorne stood up and nodded slightly to the students.
"You will experience the purpose and reasons for the suspension of classes during the activities. I will only tell you what you need to do during this activity."
"Starting next week, the rooms in the castle's secondary tower will be converted into various Cooperative Chamber of Secrets. Students will need to team up with students from different colleges, in groups of four, and complete at least two Cooperative Chamber of Secrets within a week, with a maximum of three."
"Each classroom will be transformed into Fun Chamber of Secrets, where professors will guide and organize students to complete corresponding tasks, at least once a week in each classroom."
"Furthermore, there are entrances to Truth Chamber of Secrets truth in some mysterious locations at Hogwarts. These Truth Chamber of Secrets are not restricted; once they are made public, anyone can enter at any time."
"Details will be posted in the common room next week. That's all." Lorne concluded businessily.
Dumbledore's eyes were smiling.
During the professors' discussion, Lorne systematically outlined the functions and arrangements of the three types of Chamber of Secrets and immediately assigned specific teachers to be in charge.
Professors McGonagall and Professor Flitwick were responsible for setting up and recreating the Cooperative Chamber of Secrets, while other professors also incorporated their own subject matter knowledge into the activity, allowing the school to acquire and reinforce knowledge through the event.
Each classroom in the Fun Classroom needed to have a professor, and Professor Binns Sprout and Binns were among them. They were very satisfied with Lorne's arrangement.
Lorne was solely responsible for the Truth Chamber of Secrets, and he set up the entrances to Truth Chamber of Secrets in Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom, the library's book section, and Hagrid's Hut.
Regardless of the type of Chamber of Secrets, each student receives a corresponding medal upon completion. Professor Snape is responsible for recording students' points based on these medals. In Lorne's words, no student can fraudulently claim points under Snape's three-second gaze.
As for Lockhart, Lorne assigned him a job similar to a daily journal, having him record the students' progress each day and share the information on the bulletin board.
Lorne wasn't unaware of Lockhart's phrasing and embellishment, but wasn't discerning whether something was true or not precisely what students should learn in this activity?
