Lynn looked up, casually dismissing his advisors to leave himself some space.
He remained silent for a moment, his mind racing, wondering why Sorine had suddenly left.
Rena seemed oblivious to his suspicions, only feeling relieved to have rid herself of that annoying monitor.
She was in an exceptionally good mood, her antennae swaying gently, and her voice carrying a hint of joy:
"She's gone. She wants to go out with Lynn tonight. With her tail gone, she's safe!"
Lynn looked at the miniature Ripper that had somehow crawled into his palm, and a sense of helplessness welled up in his heart.
Ever since her first trip across the ice plains, Rena has fallen in love with the feeling of freedom.
He always wanted to go out for a walk, but he couldn't go out to play often because of Sorine's surveillance.
But when he thought of the lesson from Necromunda, his vigilance returned.
In Necromunda, he fell into an enemy trap due to a moment of carelessness, nearly causing Rena's death.
From then on, he never dared to easily believe appearances.
He also believed that Sorine Wimlot, as an Imperium Inquisitor, certainly possessed far greater patience than the average person.
She followed him for almost a month, from the Shattered Canyon to the Forbidden Wall, wherever he went, she was always by his side, never slacking off in the slightest.
Such people, or rather all Inquisitor, are those who will never give up easily until they achieve their goal.
How could I possibly leave so easily?
This is highly unusual.
Lynn shook his head, gently tapped Rena's head with his fingertip, and said firmly:
"No going out today, everything is normal, proceed as planned."
Rena blinked her compound eyes, full of confusion:
"Why? She's gone, there's no more surveillance."
"It's because she 'left' that she's acting strangely," Lynn explained softly. He never hid anything from Rena.
"She's been watching me for so long, she wouldn't leave without a reason. This is most likely a smokescreen, trying to lure me in."
Although Rena didn't understand, she still chose to believe Lynn.
Her consciousness instantly spread, connecting with Lictor was lurking outside the Forbidden Wall.
Soon, Rena's voice rang out again:
" Lictor is tracking her. Her gait is normal, her body temperature is normal, and her Psychic Power fluctuations are consistent with that of the Inquisitor. No abnormalities have been detected."
Even so, Lynn remained vigilant.
Although Rena's senses were sharp, the Inquisitor's methods were not simple.
They must possess many other dark technologies, making it easy for them to block or fake illusions.
It's always better to be careful.
Lynn's guess was correct.
The third floor of the temporary command post within the Forbidden Wall, between the Servitor maintenance passage and the soldiers' rest room.
It was pitch black except for the faint light of an emergency light, which illuminated a slightly slender figure.
The figure was wearing PDF-style soldier armor, with the helmet covering her face, revealing only a section of her fair neck.
But upon closer inspection, one can see a pair of crimson eyes beneath the helmet and a head of smooth silver hair.
Sorine Wimlot, she never left the Forbidden Wall.
The " Sorine " walking towards the main nest outside the wall was just an empty shell that she remotely controlled using Wraithbone support.
That skeleton was one of her "collections," perfectly mimicking her gait, body temperature, and even Psychic Power fluctuations.
It is sufficient to fool most sensory methods, including Lictor's scanning.
A palm-sized Blackstone technology amulet was affixed to Sorine's chest.
It was this amulet that suppressed her true Psychic Power fluctuations to the level of an ordinary soldier, allowing her to perfectly blend in with the soldiers within the Forbidden Wall.
These were her sources of confidence, the capital that allowed her to venture into dangerous territory and infiltrate Lynn's inner circle.
Sorine leaned against the cold wall, her crimson eyes beneath her helmet filled with calculation.
She was waiting, waiting for an opportunity, waiting for Lynn to lower her guard again and go out on a "date".
In order to seize this opportunity, she conducted a detailed statistical modeling of Lynn's behavioral patterns.
She discovered that Lynn chose to go out on patrol five out of seven times during blizzards, because such weather could obscure his vision and make it easier for him to hide his whereabouts.
For the next four outings, he chose specific guard teams to avoid attracting attention.
According to her calculations, there is a 73% chance that five guard squads will be selected for the next patrol.
She had already infiltrated one of the "high-probability teams".
Guard 7th Company, 3rd Platoon.
Now, all she needs to do is wait patiently.
Patience is a required course for every Imperium Inquisitor; it is their weapon for capturing prey for the God-Emperor in the dark universe.
Sorine's wait was not long.
Late the next night, an encrypted order was sent to the camp of the Guard 7th Company through the Governor's Office's communication channel.
The governor will proceed to the Seventh Outpost to conduct a facility inspection, and has ordered the third platoon of the 7th Company to accompany and protect him.
The moment she saw the secret order, a knowing smile appeared on Sorine's lips.
Her judgment was never wrong, and Lynn ultimately fell into her trap.
In the dead of night, amidst a raging blizzard on the icy plains, three Chimera Armoured Vehicle drove out of the Forbidden Wall.
Bumping along the dark, icy plain, the headlights pierced the night, illuminating the rugged road ahead.
Sorine sat in one of the Chimera carriages, wearing a plain soldier's helmet.
He huddled with the other soldiers, head down, pretending to rest with his eyes closed, but actually keeping a close eye on the movements outside.
The armored vehicle traveled for forty minutes through the snowstorm, and just as it was about to reach the Seventh Outpost, the road ahead was suddenly blocked by a collapsed ice cliff.
Huge blocks of ice, several meters high, were piled up in the middle of the road, making it impossible to pass.
The PDF lieutenant leading the team poked his head out, looked at the ice cliff in front of him, and couldn't help but curse. Ice cliff collapses were common in the ice plains.
But it had to happen at this particular time; it's really unlucky.
He dared not delay for the slightest, fearing that the governor might be ambushed on the ice field, and immediately gave the order:
"Turn around! The Governor's safety is of utmost importance!"
The lieutenant strode quickly to the Chimera where Lynn was, opened the door, and looked apologetic.
"Your Excellency, the road ahead is blocked by ice cliffs; we need to clear the obstacles first."
"It's too dangerous here. We're afraid of an enemy ambush. Please change into a regular soldier's uniform first, and I'll find a few brothers to escort you back to the Forbidden Wall."
Lynn nodded, not refusing.
He took the ordinary soldier's uniform handed to him by the lieutenant, quickly changed into it, and got out of the car.
Then his gaze swept across the surrounding soldiers, seemingly casually selecting the one who would escort him back.
He selected a soldier who looked honest and simple, and had him drive the Chimera transport truck back.
Then, he slowly walked towards Sorine's squad.
Sorine's heart tightened, and she immediately composed herself, pretending to get up with the other soldiers to clear the obstacles on the ice cliff ahead.
She had only taken a few steps when a hand suddenly landed on her shoulder.
A deep voice sounded in his ear:
"Ah, we hit it off immediately, but I must leave."
"Comrade, how about... you give me a ride?"
