Power Progression
Lynn advances through personal transformation, symbiotic equipment, and system upgrades applied to Rena; the system’s rewards generally strengthen its conquest targets rather than his own statistics 323.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary human; system activation | 1 | Begins as a low-ranking tax inspector with a laspistol and dagger. The romance system activates while Genestealer hybrids have him cornered. |
| Tyranid partner binding | 2 | Binds the prematurely hatched Tyranid Warrior later named Rena. The system imposes a protocol compelling her to listen, without guaranteeing obedience. |
| Forced Dialogue Protocol; Dialogue unlocked | 4 | Temporarily restrains Rena and the lesser Tyranids sharing her consciousness. Completing the first interaction unlocks Dialogue, initially limited to three uses daily and paid for with mental energy. |
| Development Path: Devouring Enhancement | 10 | Rena’s affection rises above zero, unlocking the development system and an initial skill point. Lynn increases her biomass and energy absorption efficiency by 50%. |
| Individual/Personal Path: three-point investment | 24 | At 30 affection, spends three points to unlock Shapeshifter Armor, initially adapted to conceal Rena from the Sons of Medusa. |
| Directed evolution; Transcendent Armament | 25 40 | Selects defensive, anti-armor, and flight adaptations for Rena. Transcendent Armament gives her a psychic organ comparable to a Neurothrope’s brain. |
| Symbiotic armor | 53 56 | Acquires customized biological armor that provides concealment, reconfigurable weaponry, and gradual physical changes. Its initial direct combat boost is described as modest. |
| Development Path: Broodmother | 47 | At 50 affection, invests two additional points to unlock Rena’s Broodmother ability. Her avatar, Rena Number Two, can breed obedient Tyranids, including Genestealers. |
| Recognition as the Emperor’s Chosen | 74 89 | Receives recognition during his inauguration. Subsequently notices strength, reactions, and dynamic vision beyond human limits; with his armor, he judges himself stronger than an ordinary Astartes. |
| Deepened soul bond; psychic armor overdrive | 109 124 | Rena’s affection exceeds 60, deepening their connection. A new ability lets her briefly push his bionic armor beyond its normal limits and channel immense psychic power through him. |
| Remote-body operation | 189 224 | Transfers his consciousness through Rena’s network into an Ork-like body on Carl II, operating as Seven-Smasha while his human body remains elsewhere. |
| Individual Path: level 5 | 237 | At 75 affection, spends two points on Rena, unlocking Crown of the Swarm and three targeted evolutions. Chooses a Norn Emissary template for Rena Dahan. |
| Grip of Domination demonstrated | 472 | Seizes Luna’s Heldrake and breaks her control over it. The effort causes severe pain and leaves him unable to safely repeat the power immediately. |
| Accelerating physical transformation | 479 | Strength, agility, reactions, and perception continue rising. Begins perceiving the trajectories and psychic pathways of attacks, alongside an impulse to redirect them. |
| Warp Essence accepted; ascension begins | 482 | Accepts his innate Warp Essence through a previously deferred system gift. His mortal body cannot contain the authority and collapses as the ascension proceeds. |
| Lesser divine authority; conceptual avatar | 484 486 491 | Manifests a hundred-meter psychic form and battles Tzeentch’s avatar. His awakened Domination processes the information of billions of Tyranids and lets him temporarily assume supreme swarm control. |
Background / History
Transmigration and the first bond
Before his transmigration, Lynn was a Warhammer enthusiast and galgame player. Clicking an advertisement promising a life in the Warhammer world drew him from his gaming chair into a vortex; he awakened as a tax inspector on Necromunda in M41.998 1 2.
His knowledge helped him recognize an infestation from disappearances, suspicious meat, and purple slime. An attempt to obtain better weapons instead brought him into an ambush by Genestealer hybrids. After killing one attacker and fleeing into the abandoned pipe district, he activated the romance system and selected a Tyranid Warrior as his partner 1 2.
The relationship began under compulsion rather than trust. Rena regarded him as biomass, and his first visits required mentally exhausting system interventions to prevent her swarm from killing him. He named her Rena, brought food and industrial supplies, and undertook missions to feed her and treat her crystallized wound 2 4 5.
Building power on Necromunda
Lynn spared Butcher because he was useful and turned the Anvil Society into a covert source of resources and intelligence. Gang suppression supplied Rena with biomass while improving his official record, earning him promotion to deputy captain of District Seven’s tax inspection team. His anti-Xenos work eventually gave him authority over a Planetary Defense Force contingent exceeding a thousand personnel 6 8 9.
The arrival of Cassius and the Sons of Medusa endangered both Lynn and Rena. Cassius detected signs of concealment in Lynn’s reactions and placed him under surveillance. Lynn later secured a cooperative arrangement: he supplied Tyranid intelligence while Cassius temporarily lowered Rena’s priority as a target. Battlefield cleanup then became a means of recovering high-quality biomass for her 18 24.
Lynn nevertheless developed Rena as a countermeasure against the Space Marines. He selected concealment, anti-armor weapons, flight, and psychic evolution while planning around Cassius’s scrutiny. By the aftermath of the Abyssal Spawning Pool battle, Cassius and his squad were dead, and Rena had consumed their remains alongside Tyranid biomass 24 25 26 40 45 47.
A warning that the Hive Fleet would arrive in fewer than fifteen days forced Lynn to accelerate his escape. Using newly bred Genestealers and bribes, he obtained the abandoned Vagabond-class merchant ship Eight Hands 47.
Assuming Brevis’s governorship
Aboard the Song Offering, Lynn learned about Kerry and Isolde and decided to take the incoming governor’s place rather than merely seize supplies. His biological faceplate reproduced the governor’s appearance, allowing him to operate publicly as Kerry Von 54 56 58 262.
He selected a thousand comparatively lightly mutated Necromundan migrants as the foundation of his faction on Brevis. He also retained Genestealers, servants, and Doudou’s forty-odd Ogryns; the Ogryns provided a legitimate personal guard that did not openly expose his Tyranid backing 62 63.
During the inauguration, Archbishop Goodwin perceived an unusually complex soul: intertwined light and darkness, numerous spiritual auras, and a dense purple radiance almost fused with Lynn’s spiritual core. Lynn subsequently received recognition associated with the Emperor and became publicly known as the Emperor’s Chosen 71 74 111.
Defending Brevis and infiltrating Carl II
As governor, Lynn fought the Orks, reinforced the Forbidden Wall, settled ice-field clans, and integrated troops. His conduct complicated Inquisitor Sorine Vimlot’s investigation because his public actions fulfilled his duties more effectively than those of several previous governors 98 111 126.
For the campaign against Carl II, direct Tyranid infiltration proved inadequate: Ork Psykers detected the infiltrators, and Rena could not convincingly reproduce Ork behavior. Lynn therefore adopted a new plan, creating a separate clan and personally controlling an Ork-like body under the name Seven-Smasha 176 188 189 224.
Through the Hokage Clan and Toothy, he exploited the rivalry among Ragnar, Chandler, and Sith. Rather than relying solely on military force, he sought to fracture the Orks through prestige, ambition, and internal conflict 210 220 223.
Luna eventually struck Seven-Smasha with Destined Death, destroying most of the body and preventing regeneration. Lynn said farewell to Toothy and Rena before awakening in his human body aboard the Obsidian Pinnacle 241.
Tithes, plague, and the battle for Rena
After returning to Brevis, Lynn organized supplies, recruits, food, and the Psyker levy for the approaching Imperial Tithe fleet. His cooperation with Dominic remained conditional: he valued Dominic’s abilities but believed that discovery of his Tyranid connection would turn the man into a dangerous enemy 260 288.
Lynn and Rena later suspected that Death Guard activity concealed preparations for an attack on Brevis. He established monitoring of food and water, epidemic reporting, and bio-ship patrols. When a plague appeared in the Underhive, he ordered a covert response through Butcher, the Dark Division, and a Plague Cleansing cult 332 353.
The Nine-Sided Spirit-Sealing Barrier subsequently trapped Rena and severed her normal network connections. Lynn retained contact through the system and mobilized reinforcements. His forces shattered the barrier through heavy weapons and the psychic detonations of ten Plague-Cleansing Apostles 381 415.
During the ensuing fighting, Atia sought to capture him to investigate his Tyranid connection, while Luna pursued him with Chaos Knights. Lynn used Grip of Domination to turn Luna’s Heldrake against a Knight, but the power nearly exhausted him 459 472.
When Tzeentch threatened Rena, Lynn accepted his innate Warp Essence rather than preserve his mortal body without her. As a conceptual avatar, he fought Tzeentch’s manifestation and used his private soul bond with Rena to reach her trapped consciousness, assume swarm control, and attempt to reignite the Shadow in the Warp 480 482 484 486.
Apparent return and restored memories
Lynn later experienced his memories disappearing, including those of Rena. In an apparent return to his former world, he became withdrawn and unresponsive despite medical examinations finding no clear physical or psychological explanation. His parents placed him in the care of his friend Leo 491 492.
Meeting Leo’s cousin Rena brought an immediate emotional response. Three months into their acquaintance, they became engaged, though Lynn could not explain his certainty that she was the only person he wanted to marry 494.
A mysterious encounter among Tyranid models restored his memories. A transparent model of Rena’s original Warrior form appeared in his hand, and he remembered his identity and their shared past. The latest supplied passage depicts their spiritual union, with Lynn explicitly asking Rena to take her true Tyranid form rather than a human appearance 495 499.
Appearance
Lynn’s human appearance changes as his living conditions improve and his symbiotic armor gradually alters his body 4 56.
- Early appearance: Thin, black-haired young man with weariness in his eyes 4.
- Later human appearance: Fair skin, sharply defined features, slightly curly long black hair, and deep purple eyes resembling swirling starlight 56.
- Symbiotic armor: Streamlined purple chitin with luminous tissue, six compound eyes, and a thirty-centimeter grooved horn; increases his apparent height to approximately two and a half meters 53.
- Public regalia: Master-crafted Power Armour, a governor’s medal, blessed prayer texts, a laurel wreath, and a white fur cloak or stole presented by the ice-field clans 126 159.
- Ascended manifestation: A hundred-meter purple humanoid figure wearing a black dragon robe and wielding the Sword of the Son of Heaven 484.
Personality
Lynn combines survival-driven pragmatism with genuine attachment to humanity. He considers himself human even after becoming deeply dependent on Tyranid power, and explicitly rejects betraying his species for strength because doing so would mean losing his identity 53 257.
His compassion has firm limits. He distributes supplies to impoverished Underhive families and improves local security, but also allows captives to be consumed when releasing them would expose his secret. His governance benefits ordinary people without making him unwilling to sacrifice individuals for concealment or strategic advantage 7 28.
He favors preparation, intelligence, and leverage over unnecessary confrontation. Cassius’s surveillance teaches him to investigate threats before acting, while the Carl II campaign shows his willingness to manufacture prestige and exploit rivalries instead of fighting a costly direct war. He can also reassess himself: when Rena warns against pursuing Ragnar, he accepts that the Waaagh! Field has made him more impulsive 26 93 199 210 321.
His affection for Rena grows beyond the system’s original survival bargain. He prefers her Tyranid forms, patiently explains human experiences to her, and ultimately risks his body and existence rather than abandon her 77 110 482 499.
