Story Role

Nine Heavens Race Search

The Nine Heavens Race gathers more than a hundred talented cultivators to use their combined fortune to locate the fragments. It promises the strength of the entire race to fulfill the requests of whoever obtains them 299 300.

When the first azure fragment emerges from an ancient ruin, the race threatens to hunt down anyone who tries to seize it. Qin Xuxian reaches it first, but its pressure immobilizes him; he summons the imperial dynasty’s fortune as nine golden dragons and sends them toward the fragment 303 304.

Foodie subsequently swallows a fragment while eating stars. Its digestion triggers his transformation and later produces Heaven’s Domain 309 348.

Firmament Inheritances

Eight additional fragments emerge in the Clear Void Immortal Domain, joining the one inside Foodie. Their awakening initiates the firmament inheritance, summoning Foodie and Chen Honghu—the latter because of their contract 402.

After the pair obtains the Lord of the Firmament position, Lin Yu directs his Primordial Sequence Disciples to seek other realms’ inheritances 405.

Phoenix Ancestral Sea

The black-robed high priest uses the Phoenix fragment’s barrier against outsiders and sends cultivators into the Land of Yellow Sand, where their absorbed power corrupts and strengthens the fragment 455 456 458.

Lin Yu conceals his true strength while phantoms search for its body. After capturing it, he destroys the foreign consciousness, preserves its original wisp, and seals it with lightning in his storage space. Removing it dissolves the Land of Yellow Sand 457 458.

The fragment later helps him investigate Feng Nianzhi’s seal. Its power partially merges with the seal’s related energy, but Feng Nianzhi has already assimilated some of that power. Lin Yu realizes she could be drawn into the Heaven-Mending Stone when the fragments reunite and begins extracting it 489 495 497.

Youming Immortal World and the Water Droplet Man

A stone carrying fragment energy draws He Buxian into an investigation that leads to the Youming Immortal World. Resonance with Lin Yu’s fragment connects the mysterious force there to another fragment 519 534 536.

The intelligent Youming fragment attempts to absorb Lin Yu’s purified specimen, then reveals its consciousness as the Water Droplet Man. Lin Yu prevents the fusion but must find a way to remove its consciousness without damaging the fragment needed for the future Heaven-Mending Stone 545 549 550 563.

Third Fragment and Purification

Lin Yu discovers a pure fragment inside an ancient jujube tree and merges it with his cleansed Phoenix fragment. Removing it destroys the conditions sustaining the tree and stream, prompting him to take their resident black-and-gold monkey outside 613.

Feng Changge later begins refining the Water Droplet Man’s fragment with Phoenix Origin Fire. During the ritual, its consciousness escapes into the monkey, erasing the animal’s consciousness. Lin Yu postpones merging all three fragments to prevent its return to them 621 623 628 631.

Feng Nianzhi ultimately annihilates the Water Droplet Man’s remaining consciousness with her Origin Fire. By Lin Yu’s later exploration of the strange forest, he still carries three fragments 638 670.
