Background / History
The clan's recorded lineage traces through several branches. A thousand years before Wang Shouze became clan leader, ancestors separated from the Great Qian Wang Clan, traveled to Longzuo Prefecture, and founded the Longzuo Wang Clan. In the 3,000th year of Longchang, Wang Zhouxuan led another branch south under an expansion mandate, opened wasteland at the confluence of the Liuping Mountains and An River, and established Ping'an Town and the Ping'an Wang Clan. 1
Under Wang Zhouxuan, the clan reached its early height. Zhouxuan attained the late Spirit Platform Realm, while Wang Longyan and Wang Qiongyuan also entered that realm, giving the clan three Spirit Platform cultivators and influence across Changning Guard. 1
The clan suffered a catastrophic reversal during a beast tide in 3005 Longchang. Wang Zhouxuan died holding off the fifth-rank Golden-Winged Sun-Swallowing Tiger; clan leader Wang Qiongyuan and successor Wang Xiaoqi also perished. The Liu and Zhao vassal clans subsequently attempted to annex Wang territory after secretly preserving their own strength. Wang Longyan returned from the Purple Mansion Academy, killed one enemy Spirit Platform cultivator while fighting three opponents, and saved the clan at the cost of grave injuries and reduced lifespan. 1
Wang Dingyue later died seeking a breakthrough in the outer territories, leaving the declining clan vulnerable until Wang Shouzhe inherited leadership. As clan leader, Shouzhe began a long-term revival built on resource management, agriculture, trade, education, intelligence work, cultivation investment, and expanding alliances. 1 8
By the time of its rise to Sixth Rank, the clan's local and county prestige had both reached “Covering the Sky with One Hand,” while its prefectural influence was described as “Shaking a Region.” 343 Its influence eventually extended beyond Great Gan through outer-domain development, military industry, trade, and cooperation with other Wang branches. 701 829 925
