Fan Mingjie was stunned for a moment, then his face fell.
"Brother, all nine hundred crystals are inside. You can count them if you don't believe me."
Brother Devour said calmly, "I'm not just talking about crystals."
"Brother, I'm penniless, and I'm only relying on this batch of crystals to change my fate," Fan Mingjie said pitifully. "I really have nothing left."
Brother Devour scoffed, "A penniless pauper doesn't necessarily possess the Source of the World."
Upon hearing this, a look of surprise flashed in Fan Mingjie's eyes.
These beasts actually know about the Source of the World; they must be quite powerful.
"Wh... what Source of the World? I don't understand what you're talking about." Fan Mingjie began to feign confusion.
Brother Devour nodded. "Since you don't understand, then forget it."
" Big Black."
The chain in the Giant Overlord's hand suddenly loosened.
Big Black unleashed a vicious attack, lunging straight for Fan Mingjie's head.
"It's here! It's all here!"
Fan Mingjie hurriedly took out the crystal ball.
Giant Overlord yanked back, and Big Black almost bit off Brother Jie's nose.
Big Black sat back down next to Giant Overlord, snorting out two breaths from his nostrils, his eyes filled with disappointment and disdain, as if mocking Brother Jie for lacking backbone.
Fan Mingjie twitched the corner of his mouth.
He never imagined that one day he would be looked down upon by a strange beast.
Brother Devour took the crystal ball; the inside was blurry and indistinct, as if something was flowing within it.
Five units remain.
Fan Mingjie looked dejected.
The family's savings have been completely depleted.
Brother Devour: "Where did you come from?"
Fan Mingjie confessed everything. "I got it from a corpse belonging to an alien race on the Abyss Battlefield five years ago."
"That idiot didn't know how to use it, and I got a lucky break."
Brother Devour secretly sighed in regret.
I thought I could follow the clues and find an alien Hunter.
Brother Devour tossed the crystal ball to Giant Overlord for safekeeping, saying, "There's more."
Fan Mingjie was going crazy. "I really have nothing worth anything, you can search me if you don't believe me."
As he spoke, he pulled out his empty pockets.
Brother Devour plays with flavor:
"The company has always wanted you as a person; they've never asked for the battery samples back."
"You didn't just take the batteries, did you?"
Do you want me to spell it out even more clearly?
Fan Mingjie gritted his teeth. "Are you people from the company?"
The Giant Overlord scoffed, "A company? You think you're worthy? Listen up, we're the famous Circus!"
Fan Mingjie blinked.
Circus?
I've never heard of it.
"Never mind, I'll find it myself."
Brother Devour lifted Brother Jie by the back of the neck like a chick, Brother Jie didn't dare to resist at all.
Suddenly, Fan Mingjie froze, his face filled with shame and indignation, and said:
"Brother, stop pulling it, it's a weapon."
"Shut up."
A moment later, Brother Devour threw Fan Mingjie to the ground, holding a USB drive in his hand.
"They hid it well; they put it under the equipment."
"Tell me, what's inside?"
Fan Mingjie looked up at Brother Devour and said in a deep voice, "If I told you, I would die."
Brother Devour weighed the USB drive in his hand. "If you don't talk, you'll die right now."
The scene was silent for a few seconds.
Brother Jie seemed to have resigned himself to his fate, collapsing to the ground as if giving up.
"My true identity is an unofficial staff member at the Sea Capital Biotechnology Research Institute."
"You can think of it as a black glove, someone who does shady things for them."
"After all, I became an undocumented person after escaping the Abyss Battlefield, and I still need to eat."
Brother Devour somewhat surprised.
Brother Jie has another identity.
"Go on, what does this research institute do?"
Fan Mingjie shook his head. "How could someone as insignificant as me know that?"
Two months ago, I received a task.
"Infiltrated the company and obtained information about the A-1 Nuclear Fusion Battery."
"It just so happened that the company was recruiting security guards at that time, and I successfully got the job using a forged identity from the research institute."
"I lay low for about two weeks before I finally found my chance."
"I was planning to leave after copying the data."
"But since I was already there, I just picked up the samples when I passed by the sample room."
"Later, the Virgo contacted me, wanting to trade batteries with me."
"This androgynous bastard tried to bargain me down, so I started acting strangely, deliberately exposing myself to the Law Enforcement Department to make them feel threatened. Anyway, I have the Source of the World in my hands, so no one can catch me."
"You all know what happened next."
Brother Devour played with the USB drive for a while.
Is it just data?
This kind of thing can be priceless or it can be worthless trash in the dumpster.
In the hands of the Circus, it is clearly the latter.
"Why didn't you pack the samples and data together and send them to the research institute?" Brother Devour asked.
Fan Mingjie shrugged. "Of course, Virgo offered a higher price."
"I didn't know the value of these things at first, but then I listed them on the Myriad Races Black Market, and guess what?"
Fan Mingjie grinned. "No fewer than ten alien races have contacted me wanting the information I have, and their offers are all no less than three thousand crystal stones."
"Compared to that, the meager sum the research institute gave us is utterly worthless!"
Fan Mingjie originally planned to first release the samples to replenish the Source of the World, saving it for use on the way to escape the Abyss.
Once you reach the Abyss, then release the information.
Unfortunately, plans can't keep up with changes, and now the Circus has snatched everything away.
"Brother, I've given you the things, and I've said what I needed to say."
"Can I leave now?"
Brother Devour nodded. "Get lost."
"Okay!"
Fan Mingjie patted his bottom and got up.
Bang--
Suddenly, a hole the size of a bowl exploded in his heart, spraying Brother Devour with blood and bits of flesh.
Brother Jie looked down.
"Fuck... damn it..."
Thump--
Brother Jie collapsed to the ground, his eyes wide open, staring at the night sky over Pearl City.
He died without ever crossing the Pearl Bridge.
The traitor has been eliminated.
A man and a woman walked side by side in the distance.
They were dressed in identical black combat uniforms, their faces cold and expressionless.
Big Black seemed to sense the danger and lowered its body, growling at the two of them repeatedly.
Brother Devour raised his hand and wiped the blood from his face.
"Where did this rat come from?"
Both of them acted as if they hadn't heard, making no reaction whatsoever.
The two stopped a few dozen steps away from Brother Devour.
A faint glint flickered in the man's eyes as he spoke emotionlessly:
"Two unidentified Level Three Martial Artist and one Level E alien beast were found at the scene."
"The information is in the hands of one of the Level Three Martial Artist."
"Awaiting further instructions."
Brother Devour spat on the ground. "Are you deaf? I'm talking to you."
The man then muttered emotionlessly to himself, "Instructions confirmed. Eliminate all witnesses from the scene and retrieve the data."
The moment the words left his mouth, the two appeared before Brother Devour at the speed of light.
A three-foot-long blade shot out from their arms, attacking from both sides.
Swish--
With two flashes of white light, Brother Devour's head flew high into the sky, and his hips were also dislocated.
