"The Mutated Ones are attacking!"

"Quick, protect our lord!"

At BT-21's command, more than a dozen humanoid combat weapons surrounded Qin Ze.

Qin Ze carefully squeezed his head out between two of their waists.

A dense mass of Mutated Ones was charging toward them from not far away.

As far as he could see, there were at least a hundred or two.

These Mutated Ones looked much like the ones in the shelter, their eyes scarlet and brimming with killing intent.

"My lord, please hide!"

BT-21 pushed Qin Ze's head back in.

"The outside world really is too dangerous."

Qin Ze's face went deathly pale.

Only now did he finally realize how he had been courting death.

If he had run into such a huge horde of Mutated Ones alone, he would have become their shit by the next day.

Now Qin Ze could only hope these humanoid combat weapons would pull their weight.

"Open fire!"

Once the massive horde of Mutated Ones came within a hundred meters, BT finally gave the order to fire.

Short, compact gun barrels rose from the humanoid combat weapons' shoulders and arms.

Boom, boom, boom-

Brilliant blue lasers shot from the barrels.

The densely packed Mutated Ones were cut down row after row like leeks.

Some lucky ones avoided being hit in vital spots and only lost their limbs.

But the unlucky ones were struck by the lasers and exploded into clouds of bloody mist, without even having time to scream.

Looking at the severed limbs strewn across the ground and the entrails tangled with red and white matter, Qin Ze couldn't help swallowing.

No wonder they were called weapons.

Their combat power was simply overwhelming.

Qin Ze couldn't quite understand why, with such powerful humanoid combat weapons around, people would still choose to huddle in shelters.

If Li Yunlong had a force like this, even the emperor of Japan would have to acknowledge his ancestors.

Although the Mutated Ones were strong, the humanoid combat weapons clearly had the upper hand.

The battle between the two sides was nothing short of a one-sided slaughter by the weapons.

After one round of bombardment, BT led more than ten of her companions in a charge against the remaining Mutated Ones, leaving three behind with Qin Ze.

The humanoid combat weapons drew their respective melee weapons: sabers, spears, swords, halberds, and all manner of others.

BT's weapon was a silver tachi, and she sliced an aberrant in two in a single exchange.

Even when surrounded by numerous Mutated Ones, BT still fought with ease.

Her figure flickered back and forth among the Mutated Ones. Whenever they closed in around her, she used Teleportation to appear outside the encirclement and deliver fatal backstabs to them.

It reminded Qin Ze of Fatty's teleportation ability.

But Fatty's ability as it stood was hardly comparable to BT's. One was in heaven, the other on earth.

Still, Fatty's ability had room to grow, and Qin Ze genuinely looked forward to seeing him reach that level.

Although the other humanoid weapons lacked BT's ability to use Teleportation without anyone noticing, their close-combat skills were still formidable.

Fighting the Mutated Ones was as easy as chopping melons and vegetables.

In less than ten minutes, nearly two hundred Mutated Ones lay on the ground, and not one had broken through the blockade to reach Qin Ze.

The humanoid combat weapons suffered no casualties.

"That has to be at least the strength of an intermediate martial artist, right?"

Qin Ze couldn't help marveling.

Levels one through three were elementary, levels four through six intermediate, and levels seven through nine advanced.

The strongest martial artist Qin Ze had seen so far was Enforcer Number Three, a level-two martial artist.

The pressure Enforcer Number Three gave Qin Ze was nowhere near what BT had just exerted at full power. Qin Zhe reckoned BT could take on ten Number Threes with one hand.

"Are you hurt?"

After the battle, BT hurried over to Qin Ze and asked with concern.

"I'm fine."

After checking him over, BT breathed a sigh of relief.

"There's an abandoned airport near Jiang City, and there are still spaceships in the hangar. I'll take you there now."

With that, BT hoisted Qin Ze onto her shoulder, his butt facing forward and his head behind her.

Qin Ze: ...

What an embarrassing position.

"I can actually walk on my own."

BT flatly refused. "The airport is some distance away. We have to hurry."

"Then can't you carry me on your back? In your arms would be fine too."

"I need my hands free to deal with sudden attacks from the Mutated Ones."

With no other choice, Qin Ze had to compromise.

"Hold on tight, my lord. We're setting off."

Qin Ze clung tightly to the Valkyrie's waist.

Sigh~

This armor is far too cold. I can't feel the slightest warmth.

Whoosh-

Blue arcs of light suddenly shot from the backs of BT's calves, and she lifted off the ground, flying into the distance at tremendous speed.

The other humanoid combat weapons followed close behind, protecting Qin Ze and BT at the center of a battle formation.

Half an hour later, Qin Ze finally landed safely at the airport, his hair blown straight up by the wind.

"Wow! As expected of a human lord, you can change the state of your hair however you like!"

The humanoid combat weapons' eyes sparkled.

Even Qin Ze, whose skin was as thick as a city wall, was embarrassed by the humanoid combat weapons' relentless praise.

They held humans in the highest reverence, a reverence that seemed to be etched into their motherboards.

Even if Qin Ze farted right now, they would take a deep breath, give him a thumbs-up, and say it smelled good.

"Come with me, my lord. I know where the spaceships are," BT said.

The airport was overgrown with weeds, and several planes parked on the runway had been reduced to piles of scrap metal.

The terminal's windows were all shattered, its walls cracked, and every now and then one or two black crows flew out from inside.

This place could be used to shoot a horror movie without any extra decoration.

"Why didn't you just carry me on your shoulder and fly straight to Sky Island?"

Qin Ze followed cautiously behind BT.

"You can't breathe in space," BT answered.

"Sky Island is in space?" Qin Ze stared in astonishment.

He had imagined Sky Island as something like a flying aircraft carrier or a lighthouse, floating within the atmosphere.

Have the people of this world already colonized outer space?

If they can do that, why are they still clinging to Earth?

BT tilted her head and looked at Qin Ze. "Aren't you from Sky Island, my lord?"

Oh no!

I've been found out!

Qin Ze coughed awkwardly a few times.

"Of course I'm from Sky Island, but I've been carrying out a secret mission in a shelter."

"I only recently came out of the shelter."

BT's eyes were filled with huge question marks. "What's a shelter?"

Now it was Qin Ze's turn to be baffled. "You don't know what a shelter is?"

BT shook her head.

"What year were you manufactured?"

"I'm a first-generation humanoid combat weapon, and also the last of the BT Series. My manufacture date was in 2051."

BT answered after searching her logs.

The shelter hadn't closed until 2053, so how could BT, who was made in 2051, not know about it?

"Have you seen any other people besides me?" Qin Ze asked.

BT shook her head. "Sky Island is humanity's headquarters. Humanoid combat weapons don't enter it again after leaving the factory. A weapon's mission is to eliminate all Mutated Ones."

Qin Ze fell into thought, digesting the information BT had given him.

"Does your database have any information on the Alpha Reagent?" Qin Ze asked next.
