Qin Ze and Number Three went over to the corner.
The boy was a little over ten, his clothes in tatters from head to toe. There was no telling how long it had been since he had washed his little face.
"Hey, kid, what is it?" Number Three asked.
The boy asked timidly, "Are you here to investigate what happened to Sister Ma Yan?"
"I saw some things last night."
Qin Ze and Number Three exchanged a glance.
Number Three took out his Law Token as usual and began questioning him.
"Tell us everything you saw last night."
An overwhelming righteous aura descended, leaving the boy unable to resist.
His body trembled slightly as he began recounting everything in full.
"Sister Ma Yan was very good to me. She would give me food sometimes."
"Last night was the same. I got sleepy after I ate, so I went straight to sleep in the trash pile here."
"Around midnight, the Black Tiger Gang grabbed a young woman who was passing by."
"She shouted for help, so the Black Tiger Gang members beat her until she was covered in blood. I was terrified."
Qin Ze thought of what the middle-aged man had said.
It matched.
The enforcers hadn't been fishing for trouble.
At first, Qin Ze had suspected someone was deliberately targeting Ma Yan.
Now it seemed that wasn't the case.
"The Black Tiger Gang punched and kicked her until she was barely breathing."
"Then Sister Ma Yan suddenly opened her door and shouted at them."
"The Black Tiger Gang members weren't scared at all. Instead, they knocked Sister Ma Yan out and took her away too. They also set a fire before they left."
So that was what had happened.
The truth had come to light.
Qin Ze asked impatiently, "Where's the Black Tiger Gang?"
The boy answered timidly, "The Black Tiger Gang is a gang around here. They have a few dozen people, and their headquarters is in a casino to the south."
Number Three put away his Law Token. "Good. We finally have a lead."
Without the pressure of the Law Token, the boy immediately felt relieved.
"Sister Ma Yan will come back, right?"
Number Three patted his head. "Of course. I promise you."
"Hey, where are you going?"
Seeing Qin Ze suddenly walk away, Number Three called out to him.
Qin Ze replied, "To the casino to rescue her, of course."
Number Three sighed helplessly. "We have to follow procedure. Unless there are special circumstances, enforcers are forbidden from getting involved in ordinary people's cases."
"The Black Tiger Gang is a rabble. We'll notify the police department first and make the arrests with them."
Qin Ze couldn't wait any longer.
"Then go notify the police department. I'll scout out the casino first."
Number Three grabbed Qin Ze's arm. "Give me two minutes. I just need to make a call."
He hated it when people didn't follow procedure.
Qin Ze shook off his hand. "Then you have two minutes."
Number Three immediately called the police department and told them about the Black Tiger Gang.
"Very good, very good."
A moment later, Number Three hung up, his face gloomy.
Qin Ze asked, "What did the police department say?"
Number Three's expression was grim. "Insufficient evidence. They can't issue arrest warrants."
Qin Ze snorted coldly. "What a waste of time."
"Wait for me. Let's go find evidence first!" Number Three followed him.
Jiang City Police Department.
The deputy chief's office.
A man in black-framed glasses sat in a chair, leisurely sipping coffee as he read the day's newspaper.
Knock, knock, knock-
"Come in."
An assistant hurried in.
"Chief, an enforcer is investigating last night's arson case. He's already traced it to the Black Tiger Gang."
"He just called me to request a joint arrest operation. I fobbed him off by saying there wasn't enough evidence."
The man with glasses put down the newspaper and asked in surprise, "Does this enforcer have nothing better to do? Why is he investigating ordinary people?"
The assistant said cautiously, "If the enforcer insists on investigating, the Black Tiger Gang will be exposed sooner or later."
The man with glasses shook his head. "They've already been exposed."
"Call an action squad. I'll personally lead them to make the arrests."
The assistant asked, "You mean?"
The man with glasses snorted softly. "An exposed chess piece has lost its use. Let him serve one last purpose."
"Also, tell He Guang to clean up his work from now on."
"This is the first and last time I'll wipe his ass for him."
The assistant lowered their head. "Yes, understood."
"The casino is just ahead."
Number Three had been following Qin Ze the whole way.
Qin Ze hadn't said a word the entire time.
Number Three could tell Qin Ze had been holding something in.
A burly man wearing sunglasses stood at the casino entrance.
"In a moment, we'll sneak in quietly. Watch for my signal... fuck!"
Before Number Three could finish, Qin Ze walked straight toward the man.
"We open at night. Get lo-"
Bang!
Qin Ze kicked the man in the chest.
The man smashed through the tightly shut doors and crashed into the casino.
The casino hall was spacious, with close to twenty gambling tables.
It wasn't opening time yet, so there weren't many people inside.
A dozen or so enforcers were gathered here and there, playing cards and puffing clouds of smoke.
The sudden scene stunned them all.
"Fuck, who's the blind bastard? Don't you know this is the Black Tiger Gang's turf?"
Qin Ze instantly unleashed the first layer of the Fate Reversal Technique and charged at the nearest enforcers.
Like a tiger among sheep, he took them down one punch at a time.
In less than a minute, Qin Ze had crippled the arms and legs of all thirteen enforcers, leaving them lying on the ground groaning.
"Where are you holding the people you captured?"
Qin Ze hauled one of the enforcers up.
The enforcer gritted his teeth and said nothing.
"Pretty tough, huh?"
Crack!
Qin Ze broke his arm.
"They're all in the warehouse in the back!"
Crack, crack, crack!
Qin Ze twisted the man's remaining limbs until they broke, then tossed him into a trash can like garbage.
The warehouse doors were tightly secured with an iron chain. Qin Ze raised his foot and kicked them open.
At once, a stench of urine mixed with the smell of blood hit him in the face.
The warehouse had no windows and was pitch-black.
Qin Ze flicked the switch on the wall, and the sight before him made his jaw drop.
Eight large iron cages stood against the warehouse walls, with three or four women locked in each cage.
Every woman was naked and covered in wounds.
The instant the lights came on, they huddled together in panic like frightened little beasts.
Qin Ze's face was as calm as a pool of stagnant water.
He quickly looked around but didn't see Ma Yan.
He didn't know whether that was good news or bad news.
Number Three followed close behind into the warehouse.
When he saw the women in the cages, he too sucked in a sharp breath.
"How dare they!"
Number Three trembled all over with anger.
Even he, an enforcer, could hardly bear it.
"Which fucking bastard dares to wreck my place?!"
"If I don't chop off all your limbs today, you won't know what the Black Tiger Gang is capable of!"
Qin Ze walked out of the warehouse and saw a scar-faced man leading more than fifty enforcers as they came pouring in.
Crackle-
Lightning began to flicker in Qin Ze's eyes.
Several bolts of lightning, laced with boundless fury, shot toward the crowd.
The arcs of electricity set off a chain reaction among them.
Bang, bang, bang, bang!
Over a dozen enforcers burst into clouds of bloody mist one after another.
They were only around level 0.1 and couldn't withstand the power of the lightning at all.
The rest all fell, their bodies still twitching.
Enforcer Number Three, who stood behind Qin Ze, frowned slightly.
A lightning talent ability.
The scene before him was all too familiar.
Qin Ze lifted the scar-faced man up.
"Tell me, where's the girl you captured last night?"
