"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The muffled gunshots rang out on the streets of Brooklyn, but pedestrians, used to such sights, instinctively dispersed.
Seeing the sheriff punched into a trash can, the remaining two corrupt officers didn't hesitate for a second, simultaneously drawing their sidearms and frantically emptying their magazines at Thor.
Go to hell, you piece of trash!
On the other side.
The top floor of Stark Tower.
Tony, who was watching the show with an iced cola in his hand, suddenly stood up, spilling the cola all over his hand.
Did you shoot Thor? You shot at Earth's precarious future!
He really wanted to see if this muscle-bound alien prince could survive on Earth on his own.
If Thor were to actually die on the streets of New York, things would really get out of hand.
" JARVIS, lock onto Thor's coordinates!"
Tony raised his hand to bring up the holographic panel, his fingers swiftly swiping across the light screen.
"Sir, the coordinates have been locked."
"Activate Mark III and get to the scene as quickly as possible!"
"There's no need."
Chen Mo leaned back on the sofa, casually grabbed a handful of popcorn and stuffed it into his mouth, without even lifting his eyelids.
"Just a few broken guns, what's the rush?"
Tony turned around, glared at him, and shouted, "Come on, those are bullets, not popcorn in your hand! Thor is just a mortal now; two bullets and he'll be in the morgue!"
"I know."
Chen Mo raised his chin.
"That's why I already used my telekinesis to cover that entire block."
Tony paused, then looked back at the light screen.
In the footage, more than a dozen bullets suddenly veered off course when they were less than half a meter away from Thor. Some hit the brick wall, exploding into large pieces of debris, while others went into the trash can, leaving behind smoking bullet holes.
Not a single one landed on Thor.
"Don't even mention a few broken pistols, even if a nuclear bomb fell down right now, it wouldn't hurt him." Chen Mo picked up his cola, his tone very casual.
Tony silently dismissed the control panel, sat down again, and casually grabbed a handful of popcorn from Chen Mo's arms.
"Why didn't you say so sooner if you had a backup plan? I almost died of a heart attack just now."
"You're just too excited."
"If someone pointed a gun at you, would you still be so calm?"
Chen Mo thought about it seriously.
"Able."
"..."
Brooklyn street corner.
Thor was unaware that someone was secretly protecting him.
The moment the gunshot rang out, his fighting instincts took over his body. Thor pushed off the ground and rolled into a nearby abandoned alley to hide.
The bullet grazed the wall, and brick fragments fell at his feet.
Thor hid behind a trash can, his chest heaving. He looked down at his hands, the veins throbbing.
The crown prince of Asgard was hiding behind a filthy garbage can, escaping the weapons of mortals?
This is utterly disgraceful.
He is Thor, Son of Odin, the most powerful warrior in the Nine Realms.
These lumps of iron in the hands of ordinary people aren't even worthy of tickling him!
Rush out.
Summon the thunderbolts and shatter them!
Thor gritted his teeth, raised his right hand sharply, and tried to summon Mjolnir that had accompanied him in battle for many years.
One second.
Two seconds.
The night sky offered no response, only the distant sound of sirens growing ever closer.
There was no divine power, no warhammer, and no thunder.
The remaining rationality finally suppressed the impulse.
He is now just a mortal. This body, devoid of divine power, is absolutely no match for those metal firearms.
Thor slowly withdrew his hand, muttering under his breath, "What a disgrace..."
Outside the alley, two corrupt police officers had already changed their magazines.
"He's hiding inside!"
"Go in and kill him!"
The two men pressed themselves against the wall, approaching the alley entrance from the left and right. Their leather shoes crunched over the spent cartridge cases scattered on the ground.
Thor held his breath, his body slowly tensing.
Ten steps.
If his opponent gets any closer, he'll find a way to disarm him in close combat. Even without his divine powers, he's still a battle-hardened Asgardian Warriors.
Just then, two blinding white lights illuminated the alley entrance.
"Buzz!"
The roar of engines rapidly approached from the end of the street.
An old Ford with peeling paint veered onto the sidewalk, crashed into a roadside trash can, and then swung its rear end, coming to a stop sideways at the alley entrance.
The two corrupt police officers were blinded by the high beams and had to raise their arms to shield their eyes.
"Fuck! What is that?"
The passenger side door was suddenly pushed open.
A woman with long blonde hair, wearing a beige trench coat, leaned out of the alley and called out, "Hey big oaf, what are you standing there for?"
Thor frowned.
"Get on the bus!"
The woman didn't give him any time to think; she grabbed his wrist and forcefully pulled him into the passenger seat.
Thor stumbled and fell into the car, hitting his head on the frame.
"Hold on tight!"
"Wait, I haven't dealt with them yet."
"Wait your mother's head!"
The woman stepped on the gas pedal.
The tires skidded wildly on the ground, emitting a pungent plume of white smoke. The next second, the old Ford suddenly darted into the street, ran two red lights, and quickly disappeared into the night.
Only two corrupt policemen remained at the alley entrance, cursing loudly at the departing taillights.
The top floor of Stark Tower.
The laboratory door was pushed open.
Pepper Potts walked in with a document, intending to call the two of them to go eat.
" Tony, the food's getting cold, do you want it or not...?"
She suddenly stopped talking.
On the giant holographic screen, an old Ford was speeding through the streets of Brooklyn. The car forced its way between two trucks, nearly knocking off the side mirrors.
She glanced down at the document, then looked up at the light screen.
A few seconds later, she casually tossed the documents onto the table, pulled over a swivel chair, squeezed between Chen Mo and Tony, and grabbed a handful of popcorn from Chen Mo.
Who was the girl driving?
"A female reporter who was passing by," Chen Mo replied.
Pepper stared at the screen for a while, then commented seriously, "Good driving skills. I guess she used to drive race cars."
Tony covered his forehead.
Just moments ago it was a street gunfight, but in the blink of an eye it became three people watching an alien prince escape.
Did these people feel even a little bit nervous?
On the other side.
After confirming that no police cars were chasing them in the rearview mirror, the blond reporter finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She slammed her fist on the steering wheel, and the sudden honking of the horn startled Thor, making his shoulders twitch.
"Bastards! These scumbags in police uniforms, taking taxpayers' money, are actually protecting gangsters?"
The woman's chest heaved violently as she gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands.
"I'm going to expose them. Tomorrow's front page will show all of New York what these people really are!"
Thor leaned back in the passenger seat, remaining silent throughout.
He turned to look at the woman beside him.
In Asgard, the only women who could fight alongside him were the fully armed Valkyries.
Just now, a human woman with no armor, no weapons, and who might not even be able to defeat an ordinary soldier, rescued him in a beat-up car.
The woman's forehead was covered in sweat, and her long golden hair was somewhat disheveled. Her lips were tightly pressed together, and her blue eyes shone brightly with anger.
For the first time, Thor discovered that while the human body may be fragile, the will is not necessarily weak.
"Are you alright?" the woman suddenly asked.
Thor was silent for a moment, then shook his head.
"I'm fine."
"It's good that you're alright. How did you get into trouble with them?"
"Because of a hot dog."
The woman paused for a moment.
"A hot dog?"
Thor opened his mouth.
He wanted to say that he was the Crown Prince of Asgard, God of Thunder, the most powerful warrior in the Nine Realms, and that he had been banished by his father, and so on. But now he was sitting in a dilapidated mortal car, wearing a faded secondhand jacket.
Saying something like that would probably only make me seem crazy.
Finally, he could only mutter a reply, "Mm."
The woman gave him a strange look, but didn't press him further.
"My name is Erin, a reporter for the New York Chronicle. And you?"
" Thor, Odinson, Son of Odin."
"Alright, Son of Odin."
Erin clearly didn't take that seriously and continued to stare at the road ahead.
Thor looked at her profile again.
In his entire life, he had never been protected by an ordinary woman.
But at that very moment, his heart began to beat faster without warning.
Thor instinctively pressed his hand to his chest, a look of confusion on his face.
There was no injury or poisoning.
So what exactly does this feeling feel like?
