"Pull out your valuable organs?"
Chen Mo tilted his head, feeling the sharp serrations on the back of his neck, and a smile slowly appeared on his face.
"Dude, I'm usually the one saying those lines. It's not very nice of you to plagiarize me like this, is it?"
The chainsaw man was stunned for a moment, clearly not expecting that this fleshy man with no prosthetics would utter a complaint as his first words after being robbed.
"Stop talking nonsense!"
He slammed the chainsaw down, and green corrosive liquid dripped down the saw teeth, landing on Chen Mo's shoulder.
The dark red skin twitched slightly.
Before the corrosive liquid could even take effect or produce a wisp of smoke, it was directly absorbed by the skin.
Chen Mo slowly turned around and sized up the brave man who dared to rob him.
The chainsaw-wielding man wore a half-metal mask, and his eyes had been replaced by mechanical lenses, so nothing could be seen in them—after all, they were just two light bulbs.
Two companions stood behind him.
One man's arms were modified into heavy hydraulic hammers, another carried an electromagnetic rifle, and all three wore the same blood-red skull emblem on their clothes.
"Oh, a regional vitality organization, that's great."
Chen Mo felt he was lucky.
Less than a minute after entering this world, someone proactively provided him with intelligence on local forces.
And the service was quite good.
"You bastard, what are you laughing at?"
The chainsaw-wielding man sensed something was wrong and pressed his weapon forward again.
Chen Mo was too lazy to answer him; the corpse was just talking.
His right hand rose in reverse, a blurry, afterimage appearing abruptly, before slapping the chainsaw man across the face.
Snap!
A violent force erupted from his palm.
The metal mask dented instantly, and the chainsaw man's chin and entire head were smashed apart. The shattered metal and blood flew several meters before crashing into a dilapidated billboard.
The headless corpse swayed twice and then fell into the puddle with a splash.
The street fell into a brief silence.
The passersby hiding under the eaves froze at the same time, then screamed in terror.
"My God! He's a cyborg lunatic!"
"Damn it! Kill him!"
The person carrying the electromagnetic rifle was the first to react, raising his gun and firing.
Several blue electromagnetic missiles tore through the rain, but Chen Mo simply raised his palm.
Blacklight light emanated from between his five fingers, condensing into a thin bone shield.
The electromagnetic missile struck the bone shield, exploding into a shower of sparks.
The next second, the bone shield transformed into several black spikes, piercing through the man's chest and pinning him to the wall behind him.
The hydraulic hammer modifier turned and ran.
He had just taken two steps when the puddles beneath his feet suddenly transformed into writhing, dark red tentacles.
The tentacles wrapped around his ankles, dragging him back to the edge of the pit.
Chen Mo walked over and grabbed his head.
Why are you running?
The hydraulic hammer modifier struggled frantically, the mechanical hammer repeatedly pounding Chen Mo's body, but it couldn't even leave a mark.
"I was just passing by, I really was just passing by!"
"Dude, you're hitting me while you're saying that?"
Chen Mo nodded, his five fingers slowly tightening.
"I think you need to upgrade your messaging system; it's malfunctioning."
The sound of bones cracking rang out.
The other person's head was crushed, and the Blacklight Virus spread from his palm, enveloping both corpses simultaneously.
Just as Chen Mo was about to absorb it, a terrified scream suddenly came from the side.
"Are you insane! You killed the Bloods's corpse collector!"
A man with a mechanical prosthetic limb crawled out from under the eaves, pointing at Chen Mo with a deathly pale face.
"We're doomed! You're going to kill us, you lunatic!"
Chen Mo glanced at him.
"I can send you away before he arrives."
The other person immediately shut their mouth, their body trembling even more violently.
Chen Mo ignored the passerby. A large amount of dark red blood gushed from the soles of his feet, instantly covering the three corpses on the ground.
Flesh, metal, clothing, and weapons were all dragged into the Blacklight.
A few seconds later, only some broken shell casings remained in the dark green water.
A flood of complex memories rushed into my mind.
Chen Mo closed his eyes and stood motionless in the acid rain.
I won the lottery again.
This is not an ordinary DC parallel universe.
There is no Justice League here, nor are there the villains who are always at odds with the Justice League.
There was no Superman descending from Krypton, no Aquaman Atlantis, and no Flash being struck by lightning in a laboratory.
Even Batman was never actually created.
In this timeline, Bruce Wayne died in Crime Alley with his parents when he was eight years old.
No butler brought him back to the manor, nor did Avengers from the darkness emerge from that alley.
In the darkness, the one who walked out of that alley alone was Nite Owl.
"Why does this guy seem to be appearing a bit too often?"
Upon reaching this point, Chen Mo made a comment and continued reading.
Thomas Wayne was a man without self-discipline, without a belief in justice, and without any moral bottom line.
He inherited the Wayne Family's wealth and technology, and spent decades building a global surveillance network.
The Nite Owl wasn't wearing a cape while fighting crime on the streets.
He essentially turned crime into a manageable industry.
The city is divided into numerous districts, with security, healthcare, energy, and transportation all handled by different conglomerates.
Behind these conglomerates, there is the shadow of Nite Owl.
His partner, Lex Luthor, is another behemoth in this world.
Instead of wasting time on creating villains, he devoted all his energy to artificial intelligence, cybernetic augmentation, and orbital weapons.
The two, one in the open and one in the shadows, divided the world among themselves.
Ordinary people are implanted with an identity chip from the moment they are born.
The chip records debt, credit, working hours, and physical wear and tear.
Birth costs money, education costs money, and even breathing purified air costs money.
Those who cannot repay their debts will be sent to factories or converted into cyborg laborers.
As for those who have lost their usefulness, they will be taken away by the Bloods's corpse collectors.
Corpses can be disassembled into parts, organs can be sold to hospitals, and memory chips can be bought by the wealthy.
There are no heroes here.
No one expects a hero to appear.
In the past, some people had tried to resist, but their bodies were quickly hung on billboards, becoming propaganda material to remind everyone.
Chen Mo opened his eyes.
Acid rain fell on his face, dripping down his chin into the puddles.
I see.
This is a Gotham ruled by Nite Owl.
In the memories of the locals, it has another name.
Night City.
Chen Mo looked down at his palm; dark red cells were slowly flowing beneath his skin.
"No Superman, no Justice League, even the villains have shrunk! Is this some kind of hero's personal picture book?"
He twisted his neck, and his bones made a slight cracking sound.
"However, this place seems quite interesting."
The neon signs in the distance flickered incessantly in the acid rain.
On the outskirts of Night City, alarms began to sound.
The Bloods Gang has arrived.
