Outside the atmosphere.
Before the interstellar debris in near-Earth orbit had completely dissipated, a figure broke through the atmosphere and sped towards Earth.
at the same time.
The dark red canopy that had covered most of the planet stopped expanding recklessly and instead collapsed and flowed back towards the center of the Metropolis.
The endless biofilm transformed into countless viscous threads, rapidly disappearing into a source deep within the ruins.
The long-awaited sunlight once again pierced through the thick clouds, shining on the devastated streets.
Below, in a massive crater, Clark gasped for breath, while several unconscious Krypton People lay sprawled on the asphalt at his feet.
Faora's prized dagger was completely twisted into scrap metal, and she was deeply embedded in the rubble, losing consciousness completely.
Clark didn't hold back when the fight started, but these guys are tough and resilient; they only temporarily passed out after taking the heavy blows.
Looking at his fellow clansmen lying on the ground, he was momentarily at a loss as to how to deal with these troublesome relatives from his hometown.
We can't just dig a hole here and bury them on the spot, can we?
Before he could come up with a proper plan for detaining the suspect, two figures descending from the sky interrupted his train of thought.
Diana landed lightly, Godkiller hand.
As soon as she looked up, a blinding green light flashed, and Hal Jordan landed on another section of the broken wall.
Because the center point of the final contraction of the flesh and blood canopy was here, the two of them tracked the canopy all the way here.
The three of them sized each other up, and for a moment the atmosphere became somewhat awkward.
Hal raised his right hand, which was adorned with the Power Ring, and broke the silence by pointing to the sky, which had now completely returned to its azure hue.
"Everyone, who's going to issue a statement explaining that huge blob that just covered the sky?"
Diana shook her head and then turned her gaze to Clark, who was standing at the edge of the pit.
This giant was not only wearing an extremely eye-catching blue and red uniform, but he also had several unconscious aliens under his feet.
It looks just like the kind of thing that can make a huge, outrageous commotion in the sky.
Clark waved his hands repeatedly, "Don't look at me, I'm only responsible for taking them down."
"Then who did this? It can't be that Earth sneezed and mutated, right?" Hal rubbed the back of his head.
"If I'm not mistaken, this should be the work of that Mr. Chen," Clark said sincerely.
"Mr. Chen?" Diana raised an eyebrow. "You know him?"
"I met him once in the chapel, and he later helped me out of a difficult situation."
Clark thought about it carefully for a moment, then nodded. "I guess I know him, although his words can be a bit harsh... but he's a good person."
Hal held up the Power Ring, glanced at Clark, and couldn't help but raise his voice.
"Wow, that's great news! He's a good guy! Really? You call someone who created that doomsday canopy that blots out the sky and devoured tens of thousands of mutated monsters in the blink of an eye a good guy?"
Just then, a dazzling red arc of electricity, accompanied by a burnt smell, streaked across the street from the far end.
The world's fastest man, Barry Allen, tumbled out, but failed to brake properly and crashed headfirst into a pile of garbage on the side of the road.
"Oh! Why is there a banana peel here? Damn it."
Barry had just lifted his head from the garbage heap when he found three people standing straight in front of him.
A person wearing a bodysuit and a red cape.
A figure dressed in ancient Greek armor, wielding a longsword.
There was also a luminous being emitting green light all over its body.
Barry dusted himself off and pointed to the three men's attire.
"Wow? Are you having Bal Masqué here? By the way, nice clothes, Clark."
Hal crossed his arms and sized up the electric-sounding kid.
"Wow, you're wearing a red and gold bodysuit with two antennas sticking out of your head, buddy! How dare you criticize us first?"
"Hey, I call this functional equipment."
Barry tugged at his collar, somewhat indignant. "This is high-strength polymer fiber. The friction is too much for me when I run. Without this, I'd be running around naked in the street! Trust me, that wouldn't be good!"
These words made Diana glance at him a few more times.
Clark watched the two guys, who were already competing with each other as soon as they met, and walked over with amusement.
He extended his right hand and said calmly, "We've all gathered here to save lives. Let's get to know each other formally. I'm Clark, Clark Kent."
Barry scratched his head and quickly reached out to shake hands. " Barry Allen, everyone usually calls me The Flash."
Hal deflected the bright light from his Power Ring and landed back on the ground. " Hal Jordan, Green Lantern, call me whatever you like."
Diana sheathed the Godkiller back into its scabbard. " Paradise Island, Diana."
Just as the group finished their informal greetings, a sudden gust of wind swept up from above.
Countless dark red threads of flesh and blood rapidly converged in mid-air, squeezing inwards to reassemble into a slender human figure.
Chen Mo retracted the Blacklight wings on his back, put one hand in his pocket, and steadily stepped on the highest stone tablet in the ruins, looking down at the four people below who were looking at each other in bewilderment.
Chen Mo glanced at Faora at Clark's feet, then scanned the Justice League members who all seemed to be in their rookie phase, and grinned.
"Wow, quite the lineup! Is Metropolis hosting a superhero comic convention today?"
He walked slowly to the group and pointed to Hal's bright green bodysuit.
"Hey, you with the green flashlight and your own glow stick, are you here to light up the stage and create atmosphere late at night?"
Hal choked.
"Hey, this is the Green Lantern Ring, the greatest weapon in the entire universe!"
He waved his fist, trying to vindicate the Green Lantern Corps.
Although it always wipes out the entire party whenever it goes out, it's still quite effective as a cushion.
"You're not bad, you look much better than that glowing traffic light over there," Chen Mo interrupted Hal, looking Diana up and down in her classically styled armor. "But Metropolis's property management probably doesn't handle building repairs anymore, so you'd better not smash things up."
Diana did not get angry; she simply gripped the Godkiller tightly and quietly watched Chen Mo.
"You exude a chilling aura of danger. Who exactly are you?"
Chen Mo shrugged.
"My name is Chen Mo, just a friendly passerby and head of the Secret Service, in charge of extraterrestrial smuggling and unlicensed mutations."
Clark stepped forward and looked at Chen Mo.
"Thanks to you this time."
"Don't give me that," Chen Mo rolled her eyes at him. "I just thought those grayish-white rats were too much of an eyesore, so I did a quick clean-up."
He kicked Faora, who was lying on the ground unresponsive, and a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"You're so soft-hearted! These aliens almost wiped out Earth, and you're still playing this 'tethered and placed' game?"
Clark sighed.
"They are, after all, my own people. I just haven't decided where to send them for a proper trial yet."
This kid clearly hasn't experienced the harsh realities of life; he genuinely believes there's such a thing as absolute fairness in this world.
The superheroes who had come from all over the world gathered together, creating an atmosphere of strange harmony.
No one rushed to take action; they simply processed what had just happened in silence.
Speaking of which, isn't someone missing here?
A deep, piercing roar of engines came from the sky above.
A strong wind blew, swirling dust and waste paper from the street into the air.
A jet-black fighter jet silently emerged from the clouds and hovered steadily in mid-air.
"Speak of the devil and he appears."
