Above the icy plains, the wind and snow tore a white path through them.
The sub-zero air currents swirled snowflakes and pelted his face, but before they could even get Chen Mo, they were separated by his telekinetic power and instantly evaporated by the tail flames.
Black and red metallic wings unfolded in the night sky, rows of jet nozzles at the wing roots shining brightly.
"The place is quite far away; the Russians have a huge territory."
The next second, he accelerated again.
Reaching Mach 20, his psychic powers spread out in front of him, cleaving through the air to reduce drag. From a distance, he looked like a meteorite with a long black and red tail, crashing straight into the depths of the ice field.
In the base's radar room, the lights on the screen suddenly exploded.
The operator, who had been holding a cup of coffee, saw the wildly fluctuating data and his hand trembled, spilling half a cup of coffee onto the control panel.
[Alert: High-energy target approaching.]
[Alert: Abnormal speed.]
[Alert: Impact countdown.]
The red light flashed on the wall, and the alarm blared painfully. The operator, pale-faced, scrambled toward the emergency communication button, his Russian words almost distorted.
The base commander had just rushed out of the lounge, his belt not even fastened yet.
What's coming from here?
No one could answer him.
The next second, the impact occurred, and the entire base shook violently.
The heavy blast-proof door, along with half of the concrete wall at the entrance, was instantly blasted to pieces. Debris and steel plates flew into the hall like cannonballs, and several guards were thrown out by the blast wave before they could even raise their guns.
Amidst the smoke and dust, Chen Mo knelt on one knee.
The enormous metal wings slowly retracted, and black and red tentacles surged out from its back, meandering and crawling along the ground and walls.
He stood up and brushed the dust off his shoulders.
Good evening everyone, there's a cold chain warehouse inspection, please don't worry about it.
A dozen soldiers in the hall opened fire simultaneously.
A hail of bullets struck him, clanging and clattering, leaving not even a white mark.
Chen Mo looked down at his chest.
"Your welcoming ceremony is such a waste of bullets. Save them for Saint Zelensky."
He raised his hand and pressed forward, unleashing an invisible force that sent the first dozen or so soldiers, guns and all, flying through the air and crashing into the wall. Those in the back rows tried to cover for them, but the black and red tentacles on the ground had already wrapped around their ankles.
Some people opened fire on the tentacles, some turned and ran, and some panicked so much that they threw their guns away and crawled along the ground toward the side door.
"Ah."
The screams had barely begun when they were drowned out by the alarm.
Chen Mo watched as a soldier crawled under the table, half of his buttocks still sticking out, and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
"Dude, you've got a good idea for this cover. Are you trying to bribe me by sticking your butt out?"
The man trembled even more violently, and wet patches appeared on his camouflage pants.
Chen Mo ignored him and walked straight into the depths of the base. Guards kept rushing out of the passage, only to be smashed into the walls by telekinesis or swept away by Blacklight tendrils.
In the monitoring room, the base commander stared intently at the screen.
The monster in the video is heading downwards with a clear objective; it's not here to attack the base.
He's looking for the cryogenic chamber on the bottom floor.
The officer's face gradually paled.
"Damn it, damn it..."
He turned around, trembling, and rushed to the emergency control panel against the wall, smashing the glass enclosure to pieces.
"In that case, let the monsters deal with the monsters!"
He grabbed the walkie-talkie and practically shouted, "Everyone retreat! Retreat immediately! Lower level blockade lifted! Repeat! Lower level blockade lifted!"
After saying that, he pushed down the red lever.
At the bottom floor, equipment that had been dormant for decades began to light up.
The valves outside the giant cryogenic chamber opened one by one, and white liquid nitrogen gushed out from the exhaust vents and spread along the ground, causing the temperature inside the chamber to rise rapidly.
Inside the sealed cryogenic chamber, the tall figure finally stirred.
As Chen Mo kicked open the last alloy door, a rush of cold air reached his feet.
The quarantine area was excessively empty, with lights on the ceiling turning on one after another. Directly in front, the door of the giant cryogenic chamber was open, and the bearded man inside slowly opened his eyes.
Those eyes seemed to be out of focus, gradually coming to their senses.
Chen Mo stood at the door, watching him stretch his neck.
"Hey, Old Popsicle, you woke up pretty quickly."
The man in the cryogenic chamber remained silent.
He glanced down at the steel frame binding him, his chest heaved, and he suddenly exerted force with his arms. The heavy metal fasteners made a piercing twisting sound as they snapped one after another, fragments hitting the ground and sending sparks flying.
Chen Mo whistled and casually stretched his wrists.
"As far as the entrance is concerned, it's not very imposing."
The Soldier Boy stepped out of the cryogenic chamber.
His body still carried a chill, and anger began to rise in his eyes. Decades of imprisonment hadn't caused him dementia; instead, it made him look more like a bomb whose safety had just been pulled.
The two looked at each other through a white mist.
The alarms were still blaring deep within the base, and the occasional sounds of soldiers running and stumbling could be heard in the distance.
The Soldier Boy's gaze fell on the black and red tentacles behind Chen Mo, then looked at his folded metal wings.
He frowned, his voice hoarse like sandpaper.
What are you?
Chen Mo thought for a moment and said seriously, "If you ask me, it should be 'in-store pickup'."
The Soldier Boy clearly didn't understand.
But he doesn't need to understand it.
A bright orange-red light suddenly shone from the Soldier Boy's chest, and intense heat rapidly gathered beneath his skin, distorting the surrounding air. The remaining white mist in the cryogenic chamber was dispersed by the high temperature, and the metal floor began to glow red.
Chen Mo narrowed his eyes.
"This morning grumpiness is pretty bad."
The next second, a blinding light burst from the Soldier Boy's chest.
A brutal torrent of energy slammed into the area, illuminating the entire quarantine zone in a ghastly white light. Steel plates on the walls were peeled away layer by layer, and charred furrows were dug into the ground. Even the air smelled pungent from the heat.
Chen Mo raised his right hand, his five fingers spread, and black and red flesh and carbon armor instantly covered his arm. His psychic power condensed into a transparent barrier in front of his palm.
boom.
The energy cannon struck his palm, and the resulting light illuminated half of the lower level as if it were daytime.
Chen Mo stood still, the ground beneath his feet cracking inch by inch, yet his body remained motionless.
He watched the red light bursting forth from his palm, and a slow smile crept onto his lips.
"That's it? You didn't eat? Oh wait, you really didn't eat!"
