The night sky was torn apart by the black and red trail of flames, and the clouds rolled into a long line behind Chen Mo.
After consuming the Soldier Boy, his physical attributes improved once again, and his entire body was recalibrated.
"This Old Popsicle is really nutritious! The Russians' trip wasn't in vain."
Flying in the air, Chen Mo looked down at his palm, where several dark red lights flickered at his fingertips.
Just then, the communicator next to my ear beeped softly.
Chen Mo tilted his head slightly.
"Explain."
Edgar's steady voice came through the communicator. "Sir, there is new intelligence regarding Homelander and Madelyn that I need to report to you."
Chen Mo slowed down slightly in the high sky, and the metal wings behind him adjusted their angle slightly, lowering the flight altitude a bit.
"What? Are they finally planning to elope?"
"No," Edgar paused, "They found traces of the Bombsight of sight."
Chen Mo raised an eyebrow.
" Bombsight? How come this guy got to be featured?"
Edgar continued, "Yes, according to the intelligence we have so far, Madelyn is tracking him through old channels. Homelander are also involved; their goal is most likely to obtain the V1-Type Enhancer."
"Oh?"
Chen Mo was genuinely interested this time.
" Homelander is quite inspiring, isn't he? After getting beaten up a few times, he didn't give up, but actually started to make up for it."
There was a half-second silence on the other end of the communicator.
Edgar had become accustomed to Chen Mo's focus being different from that of ordinary people, and his tone remained steady. "Sir, the problem is, if they succeed, the Homelander ' physical fitness, energy output, and even mental state may experience an unknown level of improvement."
Upon hearing this, Chen Mo braked abruptly in mid-air.
The jet behind them suddenly shot out a large ball of fire in the opposite direction, forcibly counteracting the inertia. The surrounding clouds were pushed aside in circles by the blast wave, tearing through the night.
He hovered above the clouds, looking down at the blurry city lights in the distance.
"Hey, wait a minute." Chen Mo narrowed his eyes. "Let's start from the beginning. What's the deal with Madelyn?"
Which aspect are you referring to?
"Isn't she a little too concerned about Homelander?" Chen Mo clicked his tongue. "From coaxing him to researching information, and now she's even helping him find people. This doesn't quite match what I know about her."
Upon hearing this, Edgar quickly provided an answer, "Judging from her behavioral patterns, Madelyn does indeed exhibit strong emotional projection. She may be treating Homelander as her own child."
Chen Mo was stunned.
"What the hell? Doesn't she have a child of her own?"
"The records show that she once had a child," Edgar said, "But that child died shortly after birth. Afterwards, she had extensive contact with Homelander and was responsible for some of his psychological support work."
Chen Mo remained silent for two seconds.
What's with this world line?
The child who should have been born died, and Madelyn poured all her maternal feelings into Homelander. No wonder Homelander is still so attached to her.
"Alright then." Chen Mo's lips twitched. "A mother who lost her child and a giant baby god, this is more unbelievable than any TV drama..."
Edgar offered no comment, simply continuing his report, "They're currently operating very cautiously. Madelyn has deliberately bypassed Vought's existing intelligence network, and Homelander has reduced his public appearances. They seem to believe that this has kept them out of my sight."
"That's good," Chen Mo said. "The little pig has become more sensible and knows to secretly gain weight."
On the other end of the communicator, Edgar said, "Should I send someone to interrupt them? We can create a misdirection using old files, or we can deal with the Bombsight beforehand. If you'd like, you can go now and kill Homelander before they make contact with V1."
Chen Mo looked down at his chest.
The newly formed reactor within his body rotated quietly, terrifying energy flowing and swirling within him, each cycle making him stronger.
He just finished swallowing the Soldier Boy; he hasn't even tried using the Nuclear Blast Ray yet.
Just when we were worried about not having enough sandbags, the Homelander went to add some themselves.
Who wouldn't want to get into a heated argument with V1 Homelander and then smash his skull open with a crowbar?
"No need," Chen Mo said.
Edgar wasn't surprised, but he still confirmed again, "Sir, we won't interfere at all?"
"Hmm, mind your own business." Chen Mo unfurled his metal wings again, dark red energy slowly flowing across them. "He wants to find V1, let him find it. He wants to become stronger, we'll make him stronger."
"But sir," Edgar said, "There are many unknown variables regarding the initial enhancement direction. Homelander already possesses extremely high base stats; if it receives further enhancements, the risks will increase significantly."
Chen Mo chuckled.
"It's only interesting when the risk increases."
He stretched his shoulders, and deep within his chest, a dark red light shone through his skin, slowly spreading throughout his entire body.
"I just finished off Soldier Boy, and I was worried about not having a good punching bag to practice on," Chen Mo said. "If he's still the same old guy, it'll be so boring fighting him."
There was a brief silence on the communicator; Edgar was clearly recalculating the risks.
"Understood," he said. "I will continue to monitor their actions, but will not intervene."
"Yes." Chen Mo thought for a moment, then added, "Don't let anyone scare him away. Homelander's mental state is unstable right now; if you make the slightest move, he might just shrink back into Madelyn's arms."
Edgar said calmly, "Judging from the current situation, the possibility of Homelander doing this is not low."
Chen Mo:...
He just said it casually, but it turned out to be quite insightful.
"No wonder it's Edgar." Chen Mo shook his head. "Your company used to portray Homelander as a god; the PR department definitely deserves a bonus."
Edgar stated, "In fact, the PR department has already submitted three new drafts today to explain Homelander's recent absence from public events."
How do you explain that?
"First version: Secret overseas rescue. Second version: Cooperating with the military on a classified mission. Third version: Adjusting physical and mental state, preparing to return to the public eye in a better light."
Chen Mo chuckled.
"The third version is the most realistic; I suggest changing it to 'The baby is suffering inside, the baby wants to level up.'"
Edgar paused for a moment. "I'll tell them not to use that expression."
"You've actually considered it, haven't you?"
Chen Mo's lips twitched, and he flew back towards the city.
The cold wind at high altitude parted beside him, and the clouds were briefly illuminated by the tail flame. His speed was still increasing, and his body's ability to withstand high pressure, high temperature, and energy backlash was also stronger than before.
"Sir," Edgar's voice rang out again, "There is one more question."
"Explain."
"If Homelander completes his enhancements and then attacks the safe house directly, or attempts to attack ordinary targets near you, should we move Mia and Allen in advance?"
"I'll handle the safe house," he said. "If Homelander dares to fly over there, I'll teach him a lesson about courting death."
Edgar said, "I understand your assessment of our capabilities. However, from a safety perspective, I still recommend the evacuation plan."
"Okay." Chen Mo didn't refuse. "You handle the proposal."
"Clear."
A few seconds later, Edgar added, "One last confirmation: regarding Homelander acquiring the V1 enhancement, we will not take any further action, only continue monitoring."
"Right."
Chen Mo raised his right hand, palm facing forward.
Dark red energy rapidly ignited beneath his skin, like a miniature sun trapped deep within his flesh. The next second, an even deeper red light appeared on his chest.
The light appeared for only a moment, and then a huge hole was silently burned open in the mountain ahead.
The next second, the earth shook violently, and the intense explosion stopped the blizzard that was sweeping through the sky.
Chen Mo looked down at his palm, his tone casual.
"Don't worry, he can't cause any trouble."
Edgar remained silent for a moment on the communicator.
"Understood, sir."
Chen Mo withdrew his hand, and the jets behind him lit up again. He transformed into a black and red afterimage and flew at high speed once more.
"Why interrupt? Let him absorb it, I'm going to attack V1 Zu!"
