Spirit Shark crossed her legs and gently patted Tang Tang's back, like a strict but loving mother.
Isn't this a bit too impolite...?
Hela swallowed hard. She had assumed that Spirit Shark was just being polite and didn't actually intend to share his food.
As a result, not only did Tang Tang accept the call as a matter of course, but Spirit Shark was not even angry!
Hela remembered that the two of them had only just met, so how could they be so rude?
But then again, they aren't human, so we can't look at them from a human perspective.
Thinking about it that way, it doesn't seem like there's any problem.
Spirit Shark turned its gaze to Hela, "Hey, surface dweller, are you getting used to living here?"
Hela was startled and quickly nodded in reply, "It's alright, but I haven't completely gotten used to it yet."
The Spirit Shark nodded, then lay down directly on the thin rope.
"I'll rest here with you for a while, since I need to keep an eye on both of you anyway."
I can react immediately if anything happens.
Tang Tang ate the eel, her chubby cheeks bouncing up and down.
"That's great, I'll go ask for another bed later."
After giving a soft "hmm, "Spirit Shark fell silent.
Hela looked at the other person's tall figure, feeling conflicted about whether or not to ask how to get back to the ground.
Even though the other party had said it was impossible to go back, Hela was unwilling to give up!
On the ground lies the seriously ill mother and the boy who takes care of her every day and constantly tries to please her.
They're all still waiting for me; I can't stay here forever.
With this in mind, Hela seemed to have made up her mind.
" Spirit Shark... is there really no way for it to return to the ground?"
Spirit Shark slightly opened its eyes and looked at Hela. It wasn't angry; it answered lazily.
"I already said... it's impossible."
"Is there really no way to help this...?" Hela lowered her head slightly, her fair figure looking pitiful.
Spirit Shark sighed softly and sat up.
"Actually, it's not entirely hopeless."
Hela immediately felt a glimmer of hope and pricked up her ears to listen carefully.
"After all, we cannot deviate from this rule, which was established by the mother of our Life, [Ocean]."
If He says you can't leave, then you can't leave. But if He allows you to leave, you can go wherever you want.
Upon hearing this, Hela felt as if she had found a lifeline and hurriedly inquired.
Where is the [Ocean] now? How can I find it?
The Spirit Shark slowly walked up to Hela and pointed downwards.
"This."
Hela looked down, but there was nothing there except the floor, and a puzzled expression appeared on her face.
Where is it?
As soon as she finished speaking, Hela suddenly understood something.
But... is something this absurd really possible?
The Spirit Shark slowly spoke, "Our entire underwater world lives on the back of the [Ocean]."
"Living on... his back?"
Although she had been prepared, the news still exploded in Hela's mind like a bomb.
How big is it that an entire biological community can live on the back of a single organism!
"How big is the [Ocean]?" Hela couldn't help but ask.
Spirit Shark glanced out the window and shook his head slightly.
"I don't know. I've only crossed the border once, and that was a long journey of ten days and ten nights."
"However, I have heard a rumor."
"Rumor?"
"If we compare the entire [Ocean] to the entire world of seawater, it would take about ten [Ocean] to fill the entire world of seawater."
One-tenth?!
Hela exclaimed in surprise, because she knew how vast the Ocean were—they covered seventy percent of the Earth's surface!
One-tenth means that the size of an [Ocean] creature is about seven percent of the Earth's surface area!
No country in the world has ever had such a large land area!
"Then... how do I contact [Ocean]?"
"He's so big, can he hear me?"
"Of course you can't hear it." Spirit Shark shrugged. "To communicate and connect with [Ocean], you have to go to the core area."
That's where the [Ocean] and we sea creatures communicate.
But you can't go.
Just as Hela was about to ask further questions, Spirit Shark poured cold water on her.
"Ah..." Hela opened her lips, but didn't say anything immediately, waiting for Spirit Shark to continue.
"To communicate with the [Ocean], you must either be personally chosen by Him or possess the status of a high-ranking guardian."
However, the former possibility is extremely slim; usually, it's high-ranking guardians communicating with the [Ocean].
"Don't look down on me. At most, I'm just a squad leader in a district. I need to be one level higher to communicate with [Ocean].
Furthermore, even if we reach that level, it's not something you can just communicate whenever you want. I don't know exactly when we can contact each other.
So what should we do?
Hela fell into deep thought. Now she could only try her luck; perhaps after a while, the [Ocean] would come looking for her.
I am, after all, a surface dweller. If [Ocean] discovers me, it will definitely pay attention to me.
Alternatively, you could find a higher-ranking guardian, gain their trust, and have them contact [Ocean].
Hela sighed in frustration.
Both of these methods are far too passive; with a bit of luck, it might be possible to achieve the goal the very next day.
If you're unlucky, you might be trapped here for the rest of your life.
"If it were up to me, I'd suggest you try becoming a guardian."
"?!" Hela jumped up in surprise, pointing at herself and looking at the Spirit Shark with an incredulous expression.
"Me?! I can be a guardian too?!"
Spirit Shark nodded. "Of course, any living thing will do."
"But I'm a surface creature."
Spirit Shark lowered his eyes slightly and thought for a moment.
"That's really uncertain, but having some goals is better than doing nothing."
Hela agreed, "Then what should we do? Will we need to go through any tests or trials?"
"It's not that complicated." Spirit Shark held up two fingers.
"There are two ways to become a Guardian: either gain the approval of the [Ocean], or gain the approval of more than three Guardians."
"To gain the recognition of [Ocean] is essentially to demonstrate your strength."
Once upon a time, a shark single-handedly wiped out more than a dozen ferocious predators, earning the [Ocean]'s recognition and evolving into Sea Shark Dragon, becoming a guardian.
"Oh right, as soon as you receive recognition and become a guardian, you will turn into Sea Shark Dragon, even if you are a turtle."
You can try to pass through the Ten Thousand Sharks Strait or Whirlpool Bay. As long as you can get through these two challenges, you can basically become a guardian.
Most guardians become guardians by passing these two tests.
