Hela watched her previous incarnation, Life, confront Sky, who came to challenge him for the title of strongest of the Five Calamities. Life turned Sky’s attacks against him, and the battle continued as a scarlet tornado struck Sky.

• Hela recognized the elderly man as her previous incarnation, Life, and wondered about the wife buried in his house.
• Sky appeared above the mountain and mocked Life for burying a human woman, whom Life identified as his wife.

The old man spoke with Sky about the meaning of the Five Calamities and whether humanity deserved destruction. Unable to judge humanity impartially because of his deep ties to it, he entrusted that decision to his next life and asked Sky to kill him without interfering too much with his reincarnation.

In a snowy wasteland, Yan Wusheng confronted Bai Yu and told him he had been an undercover agent in the Light God Society all along.

Bai Yu recovered his memories of infiltrating the Light God Society for the Night Stars and agreed to return as humanity faced the Ultimate. Before he and Yan Wusheng could leave, Ye Linwan and Ye Ciqing confronted them, and Bai Yu was killed while trying to flee.

• Bai Yu read Yan Wusheng’s notebook and remembered how Wang Canxin had used memory-altering pills to help him infiltrate the Light God Society and relay its plans to the Night Stars.

Brown and Jian Luo found Yixue and Jixue in a wheat field and tried to recruit them to stop the Light God Society from destroying humanity. Yixue refused, but Jixue entered Brown’s [Room] with her, leaving their participation apparently settled.

• Jixue woke and shielded Yixue when Brown and Jian Luo emerged from a portal.
• Brown mistook Yixue for his future teammate and ordered her to help save humanity, but she refused.
• Jian Luo told Yixue that the Light God Society planned to destroy all humanity within two days, yet she still refused because Jixue would face the danger.

Jian Luo and Brown recruited Xiunuosi for the final battle after explaining that the Light God Society’s plan could destroy humanity. At a Great Xia military base, [Satellite] showed the gathered Night Stars a live feed of [Ultimate] approaching amid devastating calamities.

• Xiunuosi mistook the younger Brown for his captain and broke down after learning that the older Brown was dead.

As [Ultimate] advanced toward International Nightwalker Headquarters, [Satellite] told the Night Stars that their sacrifice was humanity’s only chance to change the coming disaster. After seeing their loved ones on screen, the fighters chose to act and prepared to set out.

• [Satellite] showed [Ultimate]’s route across Russia and assigned the Night Stars to positions along its path.
• A frightened man denounced the mission as a pointless death, and Gu Gongming forced him to his knees with his aura.
• The man tried to leave, but [Satellite] connected him and the others to their families, including his daughter Beibei and his wife.
• [Satellite] warned that everyone’s loved ones would perish within about a day and urged the Night Stars to illuminate the night with their sacrifices.
• The man shouted that he would act, the crowd joined him, and [Satellite] sent the Night Stars out.

Nan Tian found Wang Canxin in a hidden historical archive beneath the Tree of Terra, where Wang confessed to killing thousands and revealed how the five nations had been formed. Wang then claimed his actions had shown humanity its insignificance before [Ultimate], leaving Nan Tian unsure what he meant.

• Nan Tian sensed Wang Canxin a thousand meters beneath the Tree of Terra and teleported into a steel archive filled with historical artifacts and an enormous nuclear bomb.
• Nan Tian confronted Wang Canxin, who admitted he had killed 15,239 people, including 5,239 trusted subordinates, and described himself as weak and ordinary.
• Wang Canxin explained that five powerful nations had destroyed the other nations, divided their resources, and established the International Night Star Organization to end the Variants' dominance.
• Wang Canxin revealed that his grandfather had preserved evidence of that history and told him about it when he was twelve.
• Wang Canxin said he had shown humanity how insignificant it was before [Ultimate], then smiled as Nan Tian asked what he meant.

Nan Tian learned that Wang Canxin had orchestrated events to unite humanity against the Variants, but killed him before he could launch the nuclear missile. Satellite then activated the missile, destroying the area around the Tree of Terra and leaving Lin Wushuang and Ye Yiqing alive on the edge of the blast.

• Wang Canxin revealed that he had manipulated events around Hela, the Tree of Terra, and Ocean to make her join Nan Tian and to push humanity toward unity.
• Nan Tian killed Wang Canxin before he could press the nuclear missile's launch button, then found Wang's notebook detailing the Five Calamities and the factions' relationships.
• Satellite confronted Nan Tian and condemned him, then threatened his plan by pointing out that it depended on both him and the Tree of Terra.

Jian Luo planned to stop [Ultimate] from reaching the Tree of Terra by detonating five Nation-Subduing Bombs buried beneath Russia's evacuated capital. The bombs exploded around [Ultimate], leaving a burning wasteland and a vast mushroom cloud, but the chapter did not reveal whether the creature had survived.

The five nation-guarding bombs destroyed the tornadoes and left [Ultimate] in a vast crater, but the monster survived and began adapting to nuclear radiation. Jian Luo ordered the Night Stars to take protective medicine and attack, while Brown and Xiunuosi engaged [Ultimate] and a giant white wolf emerged from the mist.

• The five nation-guarding bombs obliterated the tornadoes and carved a vast crater, but [Ultimate] survived as a mass of writhing flesh.
