Yang Zhen awakens in the Youzhou Continent after assimilating the memories of a Shangyuan Sect disciple with the lowest aptitude. His apparent disadvantage changes almost immediately: thinking about familiar techniques allows him to reconstruct them into far stronger versions 1 2.

At the Youzhou Grand Assembly, Duan Langcai offers a three-star weapon for his life. Yang Zhen retaliates by robbing would-be captors of weapons, cultivation methods, pills, and treasures, earning the nickname Yang the Skinflint. His rapid advancement and humiliation of Zhang Zongjin establish his early reputation 14 15 30 41.

Realm Treasures and the East Sea

Yang Zhen seizes the Realm Treasure at the Fortune Fruit and escapes Luo Kun, Yuan Kong, and Liang Qiushui through superior movement. Later, pursued out of Raging Fire City, he traps Golden Core desperadoes inside a six-star formation 75 94.

His exploration of the Nine Realms Exquisite Pagoda and Upper Gen Mirror World brings a mysterious sword strike and Great Sage Chenxue’s inheritance. Further insight lets him control a peculiar power first encountered in the pagoda, eventually using it to kill Void Refinement experts 146 148 168.

In the Sea Dragon Pool events, he absorbs the Blood Seed and obtains a Companion Heavenly Fire. He also communicates with the Sea Dragon Clan and helps open the East Sea Dragon Palace, inspiring increasingly extravagant rumors about his identity 195 203.

Forbidden Lands and an Independent Dao

Inside the Forbidden Zone of Life, Yang Zhen explores in soul form and encounters a woman who looks exactly like Hua Youyue. Her attack injures him and forces him back into his body; his report visibly unsettles Hua Youyue 346.

His cultivation repeatedly brings him into conflict with heaven and earth. He faces the gray-cloud Heavenly Ghost tribulation and later discovers that none of the Three Thousand Great Daos belongs to him. Rather than accept that exclusion, he declares his intention to create a Dao of his own 382 675.

Western Region and Return to Shangyuan

In the Western Region, Yang Zhen defeats Lin Haotian with a single kick and confronts Yue Qian. The Central Emperor subsequently invites him onto the Grand Dao Assembly’s platform; Yang Zhen asks to bring Hua Youyue and Han Yan’er as his “two family members” 774 849.

On returning to the Youzhou Continent, he passes the complete Great Evolution Wind and Thunder Sword to Yang Chen. He later strengthens the Shangyuan Sect’s defenses by persuading Nine Dragons Great Saint to protect White Cloud Mountain and gives Lu Chenghui and Liu Ruoning two captured Saint Swords after erasing their former owners’ imprints 893 981.

Physical Sanctification and Transformation

A confrontation over Hua Youyue at Qianyuan Ridge escalates when Diao Wutian refuses to let her leave with Yang Zhen. Under attacks from Great Saints, Yang Zhen burns his powers, attempts a breakthrough, and ultimately achieves Physical Body Sanctification within the World-Ending Heavenly Lotus 1069 1073 1077.

Later lightning condenses his powers into a golden bead. Its subsequent sprouting gives him access to genuine power of heaven and earth, while the revival of heaven and earth improves his control beyond Saint Venerable-level strength 1202 1220 1226.

Emperor Realm and Su Emperor Palace

After reaching Emperor Realm, Yang Zhen possesses Emperor Techniques and Law Follows Speech, but encounters Emperors powerful enough to suppress him. His mastery of the Power of the Void distinguishes him even among Great Emperors, who have long sought a way to escape the constraints of heaven and earth 1423 1456.

Following a mysterious fragrance-induced incident, Qin Luoyi says she has inherited his Saint Physique and appoints him palace lord of Su Emperor Palace. Later, he returns to Three Flowers Holy Land and identifies Dao Ancestor as the source of an external power preventing its Great Emperors from refining heaven and earth 1435 1512.

His recklessness is tempered by a practical willingness to retreat. If he cannot win, he sees no shame in running away; neither an enemy’s status nor the threat of retaliation persuades him to accept mistreatment 528 756.

His carefree behavior initially helps him cope with displacement from his former world. He develops a genuine sense of belonging through his companions, whom he accepts as family, and through the Shangyuan Sect, which he recognizes as his home 528 980.

Despite his reputation, observers identify righteousness, open-mindedness, and an unusually uncorrupted heart beneath his tricks. He can disregard his own safety for others, including Water Monkeys whose intelligence has not yet awakened 558 1194 1290.
