A First-Class Scumbag Demands to Break Off the Engagement
With her schoolbag on her back, Ye Huo drove her red sports car to school.
In the East District, the seven gilded Chinese characters for St. Peter's Aristocratic University were engraved on the gate of an imposing building.
Since catching the robbers had taken her some time that morning, she was half an hour late when she entered the classroom.
She knocked on the door.
The Chinese teacher was in the middle of a lesson when the knock interrupted her. Thoroughly annoyed, she was about to scold whoever it was.
But the moment she turned and saw Ye Huo at the door, she swallowed her words in fright.
This was the precious young princess of the Ye Family, the Capital's foremost wealthy family, the super-darling treasured by every member of her family.
Forget scolding her-even if a single hair fell from her head, her fierce and incomparably well-connected family could probably tear the school down.
The Chinese teacher adjusted her glasses and put on a warm smile. "Miss Ye, you're here. Please, come in."
"Mm."
With her schoolbag on her back, Ye Huo strode into the classroom under everyone's upturned gazes and sat back down in her seat.
Several girls in the class whispered jealously, "Seriously, what's she so smug about? Even the teacher doesn't dare tell her off. She's late, and she still acts so high and mighty. What a disgrace to wealthy families!"
"What, can't stand it? Deal with it!"
Ye Huo glanced sideways at the loose-lipped girls and added in a cool, clear voice the whole class could hear, "I'm not changing a damn thing."
Her airy voice reached the girls' ears.
They angrily met Ye Huo's gaze.
Their gazes clashed in a crackling exchange of fire.
Before ten seconds were up, the girl's icy, bloodthirsty gaze, as cold as hell itself, made the girls instinctively shrink their necks.
Frightened, they obediently shut their mouths and sat up straight, not daring to act out.
They didn't know why, but whenever they saw Ye Huo's eyes, they were scared off by an innate, intimidating force.
It was as if she weren't a student, but a female demon who had killed countless people.
Seeing that they were all afraid, Ye Huo curled her lips into a wicked smile, leaned back in her chair, and pulled out her earphones to listen to music.
It wasn't just the girls who were afraid.
Even the Chinese teacher, who had taught countless students, felt an inexplicable fear of Ye Huo.
It was an instinctive shudder from the depths of her soul!
She couldn't understand why she, the tough woman known as Class Seven's Abbess Miejue, was afraid of Ye Huo.
She simply had the inexplicable feeling that the girl carried a powerful aura. A single glance from her felt like being stared down by the Grim Reaper, and it was terrifying.
Holding her textbook, the Chinese teacher lectured while pulling out a handkerchief to wipe away her cold sweat. She really wondered if she had been a mouse in her previous life, and Ye Huo a cat!
Fortunately, although Ye Huo seemed irreverent, wild and unrestrained, and utterly cold, she never stirred up trouble, nor was she a bad kid who bullied others by abusing her family's power!
Besides, she excelled in every subject and was Class Seven's national treasure. All the teachers treated her like a koi and never got angry with her.
Ye Huo was the naturally gifted type with an exceptionally high IQ.
She could easily come in first without studying hard.
Finding class boring, she simply sat at her desk listening to music, took out the box of snacks her dad had made her, and nibbled away.
The Chinese teacher saw her and pretended she hadn't.
She told herself that this was a national treasure, a darling adored by all, the Ye Family's most exalted young lady. She couldn't afford to provoke her.
Just before class ended, she even walked over and asked warmly, "Ye Huo, you've been eating for a while. Are you thirsty? Shall I get you a glass of water?"
"No need, teacher. Someone will get it for me."
Ye Huo held out her hand, and her deskmate and number one lackey, Lu Zichen, immediately scurried over to take the goddess's cup and fill it with water.
The Chinese teacher smiled and patted Ye Huo on the head before leaving with an affectionate look on her face.
Actually, she quite liked this kind of talented student with a temper.
Lu Zichen brought the water back and handed it to Ye Huo.
Ye Huo took a sip, then shared the red bean rolls, egg-yolk pies, and grilled sausages her dad had made with her deskmate Lu Zichen and Gu Wanyang, who sat behind her.
Gu Wanyang, her eyes red and swollen like a rabbit's, accepted the food Sister Huo offered her and thanked her in a thick, stuffy voice.
Ye Huo turned to look at Gu Wanyang. Her gaze was defiant, but it held a trace of concern that was hard to notice. "What are you crying for?"
Sister Huo's question startled Gu Wanyang, and she almost choked.
She forced down the egg-yolk pie and said hoarsely, "I... I'm fine."
"What... exactly happened to her?"
Radiating a formidable, awe-inspiring presence, Ye Huo looked at Lu Zichen.
Lu Zichen eagerly shared the gossip with Ye Huo. "Boss, Gu Wanyang's fiancé, Luo Feng, wants to break up with her. This noon, in the school's main auditorium, he's going to announce that he's breaking off the engagement with the Gu Family!"
"Breaking off the engagement? Isn't that a good thing?"
Ye Huo blurted it out without hesitation.
In her eyes, marriage was a kind of shackle on women.
All men did was give women headaches. What else were they good for?
Ye Huo smiled disdainfully.
"Boss, in the Capital's wealthy circles, breaking off an engagement isn't a good thing. It's an extremely humiliating disgrace! If he breaks off the engagement in front of so many people, Gu Wanyang's reputation will be ruined. After that, no wealthy family will dare take her in!!!"
Lu Zichen corrected her.
That was how snobbish wealthy circles were. Once the man broke off an engagement with the woman, regardless of whether it was her fault, everyone would instinctively think there was something wrong with her and that she was a worn-out shoe nobody wanted. She would surely be shut out of wealthy circles, and no one would ever propose to her again!
Besides, Gu Wanyang's family had gone bankrupt. The whole family had moved from a villa several hundred square meters in size to an ordinary apartment building, returning overnight to the days before liberation.
Her parents had also gone from wealthy people who stood high above others to owners of a small stall. No wonder wealthy families looked down on them!
Most marriages between wealthy families placed great importance on the two sides being well matched.
Lu Zichen gave Gu Wanyang an especially sympathetic look.
When Lu Zichen struck a sore spot, Gu Wanyang let out a wail, collapsed on her desk, and cried even louder.
She and Luo Feng, a second-year senior and president of the basketball club, had been childhood sweethearts, engaged since they were little-
She had admired Brother Luo since she was small, always tagging eagerly along behind him, buying him water and basketball shoes. On his eighth birthday, she had even spent over a million to build him a basketball gym as a birthday present, so he could practice playing basketball whenever he wanted!
Before her family went bankrupt, Luo Feng had treated her very well.
She never expected that as soon as her family went bankrupt, Luo Feng would turn especially cold toward her and even want to end their engagement.
Gu Wanyang, a sheltered young lady from a wealthy family, had finally experienced the coldness of human relationships.
Even the boyfriend she trusted most and held dearest had hurt her. At the thought, her eyes grew red and swollen, and she cried even harder.
Seeing how spineless the girl was being, Ye Huo slapped the desk and said coldly, "Cry, cry, cry, that's all you know how to do! What good does crying do? Will that man feel sorry for you because you're crying? No! He'll just think you're stupid and easy to bully!
"If I were you, I'd burn his basketball gym to the ground, then slam-dunk a basketball on his head and give him a few hard slaps across the face, so he'd know this young lady isn't so easy to bully!!"
