Grandma Prays for Blessings to Protect Huohuo
Teacher Jiang saw the light in an instant and said gratefully, "Ye Huo, you're incredible!
"Thank you so much for solving this difficult problem for me! You're my god, my treasure! From now on, you can do whatever you want in my class!"
The math teacher looked at Ye Huo, his face full of admiration, utterly doting on her.
As long as the Ye Family's little ancestor wanted it, he would even pluck the stars from the sky for her.
"Mm, but Teacher, I'm busy. Next time you run into a difficult problem, remember to let me know in advance!"
Ye Huo chuckled, a trace of unruliness in her voice.
She had the aura of a true big shot.
"Um, Ye Huo, my computer screen has gone black. Could you take a look at it for me?"
A teacher in the office brought out a big bag of candy, with more than fifty lollipops in it, and asked with a smile.
Ye Huo glanced at them. They were her favorite green apple flavor.
Sweet and sour.
She accepted the candy and, under the teachers' gazes of utter worship and reverence, walked around to the front of the computer tower.
The screen was completely black, and no matter how many times the teacher pressed the power button, nothing happened!
Ye Huo found some tools and took apart the computer tower. From the tangled mess of wires, she picked out a red wire without the slightest mistake, connected it, and fixed the computer in no time.
"Wow, that's amazing! Baby Huohuo, how can I ever thank you?"
The female teachers completely abandoned their earlier disdain and became Ye Huo's adoring fans, hugging her and giving her a kiss.
The computer had been breaking down on and off for a week. The school said it would send someone to fix it, but every time it was fixed, it broke down again.
Just when she had been so tormented by it that she was in no mood to teach, Ye Huo suddenly fixed it in a flash.
It was wonderful!
Seeing Ye Huo was like seeing an idol bathed in light.
Ye Huo spent the afternoon in the office helping the male teachers correct math problems and the female teachers fix their computers and phones. She stayed busy until nearly the end of school, when she returned to the classroom with a huge armful of snacks.
When Gu Wanyang and Lu Zichen saw her, they rushed over and took the armful of snacks from her. "Boss, weren't you called to the office to get a scolding? How did you come back with so many snacks?"
"What scolding? Watch your mouth! I clearly went there as an honored guest."
Ye Huo spoke imperiously.
She glanced at the clock. There were five minutes left until class ended, so she instructed them, "Hand out the snacks to our classmates, then get ready to go home!"
"Yes!"
Gu Wanyang and Lu Zichen happily went to hand out the snacks.
The classroom erupted in excited cheers, livelier than the New Year.
"Yay, thank you, Sister Huo!"
Everyone got snacks such as lollipops, milk, and chicken feet, and they were overjoyed.
And so the day's classes came to a perfect end.
Ding, ding, ding! The dismissal bell rang-
With her schoolbag slung over one shoulder, Ye Huo rode her heavy red motorcycle home, speeding along like a shooting star.
When she got home, Mom and Dad were already back from work.
Grandpa was still out fishing and hadn't returned yet.
Grandma, the most devout Buddhist and gentlest person in the family, who couldn't bear to step on even an ant, took her precious granddaughter's schoolbag with a tender smile.
She took out a red safety talisman she had obtained at a temple and handed it to her precious Huohuo. In a soft voice, she said, "Huohuo, Grandma asked for this safety talisman for you. You must carry it with you. It can keep you prosperous and safe all your life, understand?"
"I understand, Grandma."
Ye Huo froze for a moment, then smiled.
She had wondered why Grandma had often gone to the temple to burn incense and pray ever since she came back.
It turned out Grandma had prayed for seven times seven, forty-nine days, all to obtain a safety talisman for her!
Ye Huo held the red safety talisman in her hand, warmth filling her heart, and tied it to her key ring.
Grandma wore a teal qipao. Her features were as beautiful as a painting, her lips naturally red without rouge, and her long hair was swept up and fastened at the back with a hairpin.
However one looked at her, she was like a green lotus that had stepped out of a traditional Chinese painting.
Every wrinkle on her face spoke of the elegant, peerless beauty she had once been.
One could see that she was the true national miss of her day, with a gentle, ladylike air.
Ye Huo happily linked arms with Grandma and went upstairs to listen to her play the piano.
Mom, Jian Yan, brought over a plate of fruit, put an arm around her precious daughter, and sat with her by the window to listen to Grandma play.
She said gossipy, "Baby Huohuo, your grandma was a true national heiress. She was a young lady of the former presidential residence, waited on by maids from childhood. She studied abroad in the West and mastered the zither, chess, calligraphy, and painting. She was always either attending poetry gatherings and dances or listening to opera and playing the piano!"
"Wow, Grandma, you're amazing!"
Ye Huo clapped hard, cheering for Grandma.
Although she couldn't tell what piano piece Grandma was playing, it was certainly a very, very classical and elegant melody.
"She was amazing, but don't you go copying your grandma's soft-spoken manner, or you'll be bullied everywhere you go!
"If you're going to learn from someone, learn from your mom. I've had a fiery temper since I was little. At five, I already dared to take a gun into the mountains with your grandpa to hunt, and I could wield a scalpel with divine skill.
"Out there, I'm the one who tells others off. Nobody gets to tell me off, understand?"
Jian Yan smiled as she peeled a grape and fed it to her precious daughter, speaking sweetly.
Ye Huo ate the purple grape her mom had fed her. It was super sweet.
"Oh," she said obediently. "Mom, you don't need to teach me. I got into a fight today, one against seven, and beat them all to the ground!"
"Well done! My precious daughter is the treasure at the tip of my heart. Out there, only my precious daughter gets to bully others. Nobody gets to bully her, understand?"
Jian Yan hugged her precious daughter and rested her chin on her shoulder. They looked as warm and loving as could be.
The sight filled Grandma with envy.
She finished playing and sat on the piano bench, looking envious as she repeated her old refrain, "Sigh, if only I'd had a daughter."
"Oh, Mom, you've said that eight thousand times already."
Jian Yan laughed and muttered, "Baby Huohuo, you don't know this, but ever since your mom married into this family, your grandma has said that every single day, right up to now!"
"All right, I won't say it anymore, okay? Look how smug you are!
"You're the most blessed person in our family. You gave us a precious granddaughter, and you've done our family a great service. The whole family dotes on you!"
Grandma smiled gently, then opened the carved wooden cabinets in the room one by one, as though showing her granddaughter a treasure.
She took out expensive qipaos made of exquisite fabric with elegant patterns, along with silk scarves, jewelry, and hairpins, and gave them to her precious granddaughter.
Holding her precious Huohuo's hand, she sat on the sofa and looked her up and down without stopping. The more she looked, the happier she became. "My Huohuo is so beautiful. Your eyebrows look like Grandma's, and your eyes look like Mom's. Grandma is going to give these clothes to the most beautiful girl in the entire Capital..."
"Grandma!"
Ye Huo blushed at the praise.
Perhaps, before a true socialite of unparalleled grace and beauty, even a hot-tempered girl like her felt embarrassed.
"Why be embarrassed? My granddaughter is a peerless beauty, one in ten thousand. Wherever she goes, she's the most beautiful of all."
Grandma personally chose a red qipao embroidered with delicate patterns in gold and silver thread and helped her precious Huohuo change into it.
When Ye Huo came out of the dressing room, she was as beautiful as a classical beauty who had crossed time and stepped out of an old advertising poster.
"Wow~"
"How beautiful~"
"Baby Huohuo, if you'd been born in the Republican era, you would definitely have been a great beauty renowned throughout the Capital."
Mom, Jian Yan, walked over, picked out a butterfly-shaped jasper hairpin, and slid it at an angle into Ye Huo's swept-up dark hair. She looked absolutely stunning.
"My precious granddaughter is so beautiful. I wonder which boy will be lucky enough to have her in the future!"
Grandma held Ye Huo's hand and marveled.
Jian Yan's eyebrows shot up, and she immediately objected. "Mom, what are you saying? I'm going to keep my precious girl with me for life. I'm not letting some other man just snatch her away!"
Upstairs was full of warmth, when the dog at the villa's entrance started barking.
Dad, Ye Chuan, came upstairs and said, "Mom, honey, a group of people came to our door carrying sticks and demanding an explanation. They said our Huohuo injured their basketball star at school!"
"Good for her! He deserved it! A man who can't even beat a girl dares to come to our door? How embarrassing!"
Mom, Jian Yan, scolded harshly.
Grandma protected Ye Huo too. "Don't be afraid, precious granddaughter. Grandma is here. Nobody dares to bully you!"
The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were fiercely protective of their precious Huohuo.
In any case, they were certain that those boys must have bullied their precious Huohuo first, and that was why she had fought back.
"Honey, what should we do, then?" Ye Chuan asked, showing his wife great respect.
Jian Yan raised an eyebrow and said imperiously, "Throw them out! Are you waiting for them to come in and dirty our floors?"
"Yes, as you command. My lady wife is the wisest of all!"
Ye Chuan answered happily. Then he rushed over and hugged his precious daughter, his heart nearly melting as he said, "Precious daughter, you look so pretty in that qipao. Once Dad has taught them a lesson, I'll come back upstairs and take some beautiful photos of you-"
With that, he rushed downstairs and, together with the dog and the bodyguards, beat the group and drove them away.
He didn't even let them through the door!
Hmph!
No one was going to bully his precious daughter!
