Ch. 41The Talent Tree

Aige delivered Keduote’s invisibility potions to Sally, completed her quest, and received the Worgen Infiltrator card. Reaching level ten made him a junior mage and unlocked the Talent Tree, with eight talents already active.

  • Keduote brewed the Minor Invisibility Potions, and Aige collected them for Sally’s quest.
  • Aige delivered the potions to Sally at Beech Farm, received her handwoven scarf, and completed the quest, earning the Worgen Infiltrator card.
  • Aige reached level ten and unlocked two-star Hearthstone cards and the Talent Tree.
  • Aige discovered that eight Arcane, Fire, and Frost talents were already active at their maximum ranks.

Ch. 42Shadow Word: Pain

After reaching level 10, Aige gained Frost Nova and received the Priest card Shadow Word: Pain, then traveled to Stormwind City to register as a combat professional. He entered the city and learned he should certify his mage status in the Mage Quarter, since he had no badge to show his rank.

  • Aige reviewed his mage abilities and received the Shadow Word: Pain card after completing the quest to increase his strength.
  • Aige stayed overnight at Beech Farm, ate breakfast with his hosts, then used his Hearthstone to return to the road.
  • Aige traveled northwest to Stormwind City and passed through its gates and checkpoints.
  • Aige told the guards that he was a junior mage from Northshire seeking a combat professional identity card.
  • Sergeant Raul saluted Aige and directed him to SI:7 in Old Town to register, advising him to certify his mage status in the Mage Quarter and obtain a badge.

Ch. 43Identity

Aige encountered prejudice in Stormwind City, then registered as a mage and received a purple combat-profession identity card. He planned to seek formal certification in the Mage Quarter and remembered to return to the Oak Tavern to pay for his meal.

  • Aige visited the Oak Tavern after receiving a coupon and was disappointed by the wine, then clashed with Viscount Xiqi's lackeys over a table.
  • Aige threatened Viscount Xiqi with a Fireball and drove him and his servants away, then reconsidered his status in Stormwind City.
  • Aige went to SI:7 and filled out a form to register for a combat-profession identity card.
  • Aige proved he was a mage by casting Fireball at a target, paid a silver coin, and received a purple identity card.
  • Aige learned the identity-card colors and their associated professions, then considered getting formal mage certification.

Ch. 44The Mage Quarter

Aige visited Stormwind City’s Mage Quarter and reflected on the differences between human and elven magic. After passing through a barrier and finding the district’s unusual buildings, he asked where to obtain mage certification.

  • Aige returned to the Oakwood Tavern, apologized to the owner, and paid the bill of 1 silver and 50 copper.
  • Aige passed the real estate office and headed to the Mage Quarter, hoping to buy property after earning his junior mage certification.
  • Aige crossed a barrier into the Mage Quarter and mistakenly assumed it kept ordinary people out; the barrier actually blocked noise and helped identify visitors.
  • Aige asked where he could get his mage certification and surveyed the district’s haphazard buildings and mage towers.
  • Aige considered the defenses, warning systems, research facilities, and optional offensive capabilities of mage towers.

Ch. 45Violet Academy

Aige found the Tower of Trials in Stormwind City's Mage Quarter and took the junior mage assessment. He defeated three Murloc illusions and earned the rank of Junior Mage.

  • Aige asked three fifth-year Violet Academy apprentices for directions to the junior mage assessment, and one showed him the way to the Tower of Trials.
  • Aige registered at the Tower of Trials and went to the second floor to meet an intermediate mage.
  • The intermediate mage explained that Aige had to defeat three low-level Murloc illusions and demonstrate a junior control spell.
  • Aige cast Frostbolt and Fireball against the Murlocs, then used Frost Nova to freeze them before finishing them off.
  • The intermediate mage congratulated Aige on successfully advancing to Junior Mage.

Ch. 46Letter of Recommendation

After earning a junior mage badge, Aige received Deke’s recommendation to study at Violet Academy for free. He explored Cathedral Square, then delivered goods to Lok Wildhammer, who befriended him over drinks and offered him another delivery job to Ironforge.

  • Deke praised Aige’s battle skills, recommended that he study at Violet Academy, and wrote him a letter of recommendation after accepting a healing bandage.
  • Aige visited Cathedral Square, saw the hospital’s ordinary first-aid bandages, and donated a silver coin to the orphanage.
  • Aige delivered goods to Lok Wildhammer and collected the promised silver coin, despite Lok complaining that Luxiu had tricked him again.
  • Aige gave Lok a Kobold pickaxe, and Lok invited him to drink dwarven ale in thanks.
  • Aige shared Milly’s homemade wine with Lok, and the two drank together as friends.
  • Lok asked Aige to deliver a shipment to his friend at The Great Forge in Ironforge.

Ch. 47The Auction House

After fleeing Stormwind’s unaffordable property market, Aige visited the auction house to check the prices and availability of herbs for his alchemy. He found common herbs were abundant and cheap, while rare herbs such as Icecap and Black Lotus were scarce and costly.

  • Aige pinned on his one-star mage badge, inspected Stormwind’s property prices, and left after learning that even modest homes cost hundreds of gold coins.
  • Aige decided the bank offered him little use because he already had Hero Space and deposits earned no interest.
  • Aige showed his combat professional identity card at the auction house and used a query machine to search its listings.
  • Aige found Silverleaf, Peacebloom, and Bruiseweed in plentiful supply at low prices.
  • Aige found fewer than 200 Icecap in stock and only seven Black Lotus listed, each priced at one gold coin.

Ch. 48The Alchemist

Aige chose alchemy after discovering that Minor Healing Potions sold for far more than their ingredients cost, then began making them in his inn room. He successfully followed the potion-making process despite distractions, but the chapter left the potion’s completion and result unresolved.

  • Aige learned alchemy and bought herbs and tools after seeing that Minor Healing Potions were scarce and expensive at auction.
  • Aige collected his purchases from the post office and returned to his inn room to begin brewing.
  • Aige ruined two batches while the noise from the neighboring room disrupted his work, then decided to grind the ingredients in stages.
  • Aige mixed and heated the medicinal powder, added water, and stirred the solution as it turned bloodred.
  • Aige learned that advanced alchemy depended heavily on precise heat control, a skill that made fire mages valuable allies to alchemists.

Ch. 49A Commoner's Legend

Aige mastered alchemy’s most difficult requirement, heat control, by using his magical flames, then made eighteen perfect Minor Healing Potions. He listed ten at the Stormwind City auction house and prepared to return to Northshire to see Milly.

  • Aige learned that Aifeila had been unable to advance beyond advanced alchemy because he lacked the heat control, lifespan, and magic needed for master-level work.
  • Aige used his fire magic to control the heat while making potions, completing eighteen Minor Healing Potions overnight after wasting two portions.
  • Aige finished his Stormwind City errands and decided to return to Northshire to visit Milly after selling some potions for funds.
  • Aige checked auction prices and listed ten perfect-grade Minor Healing Potions together for 150 silver coins.
  • Aige kept his identity confidential on the auction listing, which displayed only the last four digits of his identity card number, 9527.

Ch. 50An Unexpected Encounter

Aige spotted his mortal enemy Carl visiting Milly's Grape Estate and learned that Carl had left after discovering Milly was already involved with someone. Convinced that Carl threatened his relationship with Milly, Aige followed her carriage and decided to kill her.

  • Aige walked from Stormwind City toward Milly's Grape Estate, hoping to see Milly.
  • Aige recognized Carl's carriage at the estate and recalled that Carl had caused his original death.
  • Carl visited Milly hoping to build a relationship and secure a possible marriage, but saw that Milly was already involved with someone.
  • Carl exchanged pleasantries with Milly, signed an order for supplies, and left the estate in her carriage.
  • Aige followed Carl's carriage and, despite her lack of designs on Milly, decided that Carl had to die.
