Background

Little Pagoda and the Sword of Upholding the Dao have accompanied Ye Tianming since childhood. When asked why it chose him, Little Pagoda describes him as a “person of destiny” with a promising future, without explaining further 7 27.

Before accompanying Ye Tianming, Little Pagoda followed three other people. It recalls that the first repeatedly burned his soul or blew himself up, while the next two constantly tricked and schemed against it. Being asked to endure attacks later brings back memories from more than a thousand years earlier 33 43.

Little Pagoda claims that it was once invincible “beneath the three swords.” Its present abilities are restricted by a seal, whose origin and creator are not revealed. It also says that its old acquaintances belong to a different era and admits that it cannot contact Yang Lianshuang directly 7 23.

Its desire to receive credit for Ye Tianming’s cultivation art motivates it to offer guidance, eventually securing the proposed name Heavenly Mandate Pagoda Ancestor Art 6 12.

It frequently presents its own confusion or surprise as a deliberate test of Ye Tianming. After failing to understand Nanling Zhao’s strategy, it claims that it knew her reasoning all along; when Ye Tianming develops insights about restraint and balance, it similarly treats them as the intended result of its teaching 15 48.

Despite its vanity, Little Pagoda is genuinely fond of Ye Tianming. It values his sincerity, discourages shameless methods of acquiring wealth, and wants him to develop an independent cultivation path rather than depend entirely on inherited techniques. It also deliberately checks his pride when he becomes too excited by his achievements 27 30 33 34.

During the Guanxuan Dao trial, Little Pagoda initially sees no way for Ye Tianming to defeat ten copies of himself without using the Sword of Upholding the Dao. It is then shocked by his forced breakthrough and his discovery that the Heaven-Slaying Sword-Drawing Technique can be stacked 6 7.

The second examiner recognizes Little Pagoda and calls it a former “great scholar.” Later, while Ye Tianming faces the academy’s refusal to deliver justice, Little Pagoda tells him that his true backer is himself and helps improve his cultivation art 8 10 12.

Failed Appeal to the Milky Way Sect

After multiple academies refuse Ye Tianming shelter, Little Pagoda directs him to the Milky Way Sect. It expects its connection with founder Yang Lianshuang to secure help, but current sect master Qin Lian has never heard of “Tower Ancestor” and refuses to summon her 20 21 22.

Little Pagoda responds angrily to Qin Lian’s insults, forcing Ye Tianming to carry it away before a fight begins. It subsequently reassures him that its acquaintance with Yang Lianshuang is genuine, while conceding that it has no way to contact her directly 22 23.

The Plain-Skirted Woman

When Ye Tianming’s Future Method brings forth a plain-skirted woman’s Future True Body, Little Pagoda reacts with terror. It insists that it knows nothing, calls itself “just a pagoda,” and asks Ye Tianming to stop addressing it as Tower Ancestor 25.

Transcendent Civilization Deception

To survive the struggle over the Transcendent Civilization’s inheritance, Ye Tianming presents Little Pagoda as the Transcendent Primordial Chaos Pagoda. Its durability convinces the gathered cultivators that it is extraordinary, though Little Pagoda considers their repeated tests humiliating 43.

Ye Tianming expands the deception by claiming that the civilization’s wealth is stored inside it and that a new floor opens whenever he advances a realm. These are fabricated claims, not documented functions of Little Pagoda 44.

The supposed shared treasure becomes the basis for the Transcendent Civilization Development Alliance. Ye Tianming retains custody of Little Pagoda and uses the crowd’s interest in it to rally opposition against the Xiao Family 44 45.
