Early the next morning.
After making breakfast, Ye Chen rode his little electric scooter to Dihao Group.
He parked the scooter at the edge of Dihao Group's parking lot. Just as he locked it, a black Bentley sedan slowly pulled into a parking space opposite him.
Ye Chen happened to look up and saw a young man and woman get out of the car.
The man wore an expensive suit and looked impressive at a glance. The woman was dressed flamboyantly, and though she looked somewhat gaudy, she was still a rare beauty.
They were none other than Xiao Churan's cousin Xiao Weiwei and the man she was about to become engaged to, Wang Yunfei, the eldest young master of the Wang Family.
Ye Chen didn't know what Xiao Weiwei and Wang Yunfei were doing at Dihao Group, but to avoid trouble, he prepared to keep his distance.
To his surprise, the more he tried to avoid trouble, the more it came his way.
Sharp-eyed Xiao Weiwei spotted him immediately and called out loudly, "Oh, brother-in-law!"
Xiao Weiwei addressed him with such warmth that Ye Chen couldn't help feeling a headache coming on.
Out of courtesy, he had no choice but to stop. Once the two came closer, he smiled and said, "Weiwei, what are you doing here?"
Xiao Weiwei giggled. "Yunfei and I came to pay a visit to Wang Dongxue, the vice chairwoman of Dihao Group!"
Then she looked at Wang Yunfei with admiration and said, "Yunfei's family has a lot of business with Dihao Group. In the future, he'll be able to help not only the Wang Family, but our Xiao Family as well."
Ye Chen hadn't known that the Wang Family did business with Dihao Group. After all, Dihao Group had only just become his property, and he hadn't had time to learn about it.
He didn't let it show, though. He simply smiled and said, "Young Master Wang has an extraordinary bearing and considerable ability. You two really are a talented man and a beautiful woman!"
Wang Yunfei looked at Ye Chen with disdain and couldn't help feeling a sense of injustice.
This fucking loser had been chewed out by Old Madam Xiao yesterday until he looked like a beaten dog, yet here he was today, grinning as if nothing had happened.
Why would an utterly gorgeous woman like Xiao Churan marry such a good-for-nothing?
If it weren't for this good-for-nothing, he would surely have pursued Xiao Churan with all his might. Why else would he be getting engaged to Xiao Weiwei, who was inferior in every way?
The thought left Wang Yunfei displeased, and he deliberately asked, "What did you come running to Dihao Group for, brother-in-law?"
"Looking for a job," Ye Chen said casually.
"Looking for a job?" He sneered. "A good-for-nothing like you who can't do a damn thing right wants to find a job at Dihao Group?"
Ye Chen frowned. "What does my job search have to do with you?"
Xiao Weiwei had called Ye Chen over precisely because she wanted to mock and ridicule him. Seeing that Wang Yunfei had beaten her to it, she immediately sneered as well. "What? Did Yunfei say anything wrong?"
"If they want qualifications, do you have a diploma, you good-for-nothing?"
"If they want ability, do you have any achievements, you good-for-nothing?"
"A piece of trash like you wouldn't even be hired as a security guard at Dihao Group. If you had any self-awareness, you'd be better off picking up garbage on the street. At least you could make two or three thousand a month!"
With that, she tossed the drink bottle in her hand at Ye Chen's feet and snorted. "Here. Don't say I never look after you. Pick up this empty bottle and sell it!"
Wang Yunfei laughed. "You might be trash, but since we're relatives, I should look after you a little. As it happens, I have some connections with the vice chairwoman of Dihao Group. Why don't I put in a good word for you and have him arrange a job cleaning toilets for you?"
Ye Chen smiled coldly. "You don't need to concern yourself with what kind of job I look for. You'd better worry more about yourself. Dihao Group is a major corporation. I don't believe they'd do business with low-quality trash like you."
Wang Yunfei flew into a rage. "Who the fuck are you calling trash?"
"You're trash," Ye Chen said disdainfully.
With that, he couldn't be bothered to pay Wang Yunfei any more attention and strode toward the Dihao Group building.
"Fuck you, stop right there!" Wang Yunfei hurried after him and caught up with Ye Chen at the elevators.
He had intended to teach Ye Chen a good lesson, or at least slap him a couple of times to show him the consequences of offending him.
But when he saw that they were already inside the Dihao Group building, he worried that getting physical here would anger his business partners, so he had no choice but to put the thought of teaching him a lesson aside for the time being.
He said through gritted teeth, "You fucking idiot, I'll let you off for now. You won't be so lucky next time!"
Ye Chen snorted coldly, stepped into the elevator, and said to him, "Wang Yunfei, you think you're hot shit? Believe me, you'll soon learn the price of arrogance!"
"You fucking..." Wang Yunfei stepped forward, about to charge into the elevator.
Xiao Weiwei pulled him back and said contemptuously, "Yunfei, don't ride in the same elevator as trash like him. You might be overcome by his stench."
Wang Yunfei nodded, knowing he couldn't lay hands on Ye Chen here. He said coldly, "I'll let you off this time. Next time, I'll make you pay!"
Ye Chen took the elevator straight to the top floor, where the chairman's office was located.
Tang Sihai had already made arrangements for him at Dihao Group. The person responsible for dealing with him was a woman named Wang Dongxue.
Wang Dongxue was well known in Jinling, the city's most famous career woman. Not only was she beautiful, but she was also exceptionally capable at her job. Despite her young age, she had already risen to vice chairwoman of Dihao Group, and she deserved much of the credit for the company's success.
Now that Dihao Group had been acquired by the Ye Family, the former chairman had stepped down. Wang Dongxue had stayed on, ready to assist the new chairman.
The moment she saw Ye Chen, Wang Dongxue was stunned. She hadn't expected the young master of the Ye Family whom Tang Sihai had spoken of to be so young and graceful!
Not daring to delay, she immediately said with the utmost respect, "Young Master, please do me the honor of coming to my office."
