Background / History

Mu Sheng was a reader familiar with the original story before transmigrating into Bei Bei’s position in a Peerless Tang Sect world. Unlike the Bei Bei watching the Sky Screen, he awakened both a sacred dragon Martial Soul and the mysterious Shendu Martial Soul. He concealed the source of his knowledge by attributing his familiarity with past and future events to Shendu 3 9.

Before the broadcast’s main events, he secretly intervened in a Shrek Soul Ring expedition that would otherwise have ended in disaster because of Xuan Zi’s carelessness. His preparations protected the students, including Zhang Lexuan, whom he regarded as his child bride. Mu En subsequently assigned Xuan Zi as his assistant 10.

Mu Sheng also protected Tang Ya after she awakened Dark Blue Silver Grass. He argued that possessing a Wicked Martial Soul was not itself a crime and helped Shrek gradually accept Wicked Soul Masters who had committed no cruel or immoral acts 14.

Appearance

  • Build: Tall and straight-backed 3.
  • Hair: Long, purple-blue, and loosely tied behind his head 3.
  • Eyes: Deep purple, with a sharp, bold gaze 3.
  • Features: Strikingly handsome; Qian Renxue notices the faint sacred light surrounding him 3.
  • Clothing: Blue-and-white combat clothes during his first displayed Martial Soul release 7.

Personality

Mu Sheng is affectionate and protective toward Tang Ya, but markedly colder when someone might obstruct his plans. He initially shields her from the unfamiliar Qian Renxue, then later warns Qian Renxue that he will kill her if she interferes with his intervention in Tian Meng’s sacrifice 3 7.

He enjoys provoking people while withholding what he knows. After recognizing Qian Renxue beneath her “Bibi Xue” disguise, he deliberately criticizes her historical decisions and encourages her to agree with insults directed at herself 4 5 6.

His planning combines foreknowledge with caution. He pressures Tian Meng through Xuan Zi rather than immediately attacking because he is unsure whether Tang San left a contingency behind. When the Divine Realm fails to react to his changes, he treats its silence as a hypothesis to investigate rather than proof of safety 10 12 14.

His defense of innocent Wicked Soul Masters reflects a distinction between a person’s Martial Soul and their conduct. That protection does not make him uniformly merciful: he offers the Shadow Vine Snake survival as Tang Ya’s Soul Spirit or the erasure of its consciousness 14 18.

Abilities & Skills

Radiant Sacred Dragon

A beneficial mutation of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon that improves the Martial Soul’s quality while retaining its original lightning foundation 20.

  • Possesses light and sacred attributes, with its light attribute later reaching Ultimate Light 3 28.
  • Has a thousand-year first ring and a fifth ring exceeding ninety thousand years 7.
  • Can absorb compatible light and sacred presences released during a Soul Spirit ritual 28.

Sacred Dragon Light Wings

His Fourth Soul Skill manifests enormous golden-white wings patterned with flowing dragon scales 7.

  • Enables long-distance flight and allows him to carry Tang Ya.
  • Can form a defensive shield.
  • Can cut enemies like blades 7.

Shendu Martial Soul

Shendu manifests as a stone disc and grants access to Talisman powers. Its Soul Ring requirement is unusually demanding: it needs the essence of a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast 3 10.

  • Enhanced spiritual power: His spiritual power is several times more substantial than that of Soul Masters at the same level 6.
  • Passive perception: Automatically detects sufficiently strong Soul Power fluctuations, life signs, or battle sounds within an unspecified range 6.
  • Absorption: Possesses Drago’s absorption ability. Through its union with Tang Ya’s Dark Blue Silver Grass, Mu Sheng acquired her devouring ability and passed some of Shendu’s undying-soul resistance back to her 22.
  • Ritual benefits: Can draw in escaping attributes during a sacrifice to strengthen his other Martial Soul 25 28.

Sheep Talisman

Awakened through Tian Meng’s essence, the Sheep Talisman is stronger than the version Mu Sheng remembers from his previous life 10 11.

  • Astral Projection: Separates a soul from its body; demonstrated by extracting the Shadow Vine Snake’s soul 17.
  • Dream visitation: Allows entry into dreams to deliver messages 11.
  • Spiritual Soul Skills: Grants Spiritual Detection, Spiritual Sharing, Mental Interference, and Soul Shock 11.
  • Soul shelter: Provides a space capable of housing and nourishing Electrolux’s remnant soul 11.
  • Soul suppression: Can destroy an extracted soul with a thought, though this suppression ceases to work beyond a certain spiritual-power threshold 18.
  • Incomplete mastery: Mu Sheng senses deeper soul-related powers that he cannot yet fully understand 11.

Wisdom Soul Ring and Soul Spirit Creation

Mu Sheng develops a method of preserving a Soul Beast’s soul and merging it with an absorbed Soul Ring 17 18.

  • Extracting the soul first removes the Soul Shock normally associated with absorbing the ten-thousand-year ring 17.
  • A willing participant becomes a growing Soul Spirit; the Shadow Vine Snake becomes Tang Ya’s Little Vine 18.
  • Tang Ya’s completed ring grants two Soul Skills, which Little Vine can also release independently 18 19.
  • The fusion requires delicate control: a mistake could crush the soul 18.
  • He also guides the Heavenly Dragon Horse’s willing sacrifice into Qian Renxue’s ring, preserving the beast as a Soul Spirit 28.

Foreknowledge and Martial Soul Theory

His apparent omniscience primarily rests on knowledge retained from reading the original story, not an established ability to see every possible future 3 9.

  • Knows historical divine conflicts, Tian Meng’s background, and the silkworm’s intended plan for the Ice Empress 5 9 12.
  • Explains Martial Soul mutation, Body Martial Souls, Second Awakenings, and methods of Martial Soul evolution 20 21 22 27.
  • Uses his knowledge to locate suitable Soul Beasts and navigate around dangerous territories 15 26.
  • Recognizes its limits when expected new students are absent and suspects his interventions have changed the plot 30 31.

Equipment / Items

  • Tian Meng’s shed shell — Obtained through Xuan Zi after Tian Meng secretly amplified Huo Yuhao’s attack against Tang Ya. Mu Sheng identifies its potential to work with the Sheep and Snake Talismans for soul binding or concealment; these are plans rather than a completed artifact 24.

Relationships

  • Tang Ya — His girlfriend. He protects her, trains her spiritual resistance, promises to help destroy the Iron Blood Sect and rebuild the Tang Sect, and creates her first Soul Spirit. She declares that she intends to be his second wife, below Zhang Lexuan 2 3 14 18 22 26.
  • Zhang Lexuan — Described by Mu Sheng as his child bride. Protecting her was one reason for preventing the earlier Shrek expedition disaster 10.
  • Qian Renxue / Bibi Xue — A time-displaced ally whose disguise he quickly recognizes. He arranges her recruitment of Huo Yuhao and helps her obtain the Heavenly Dragon Horse’s Wisdom Soul Ring. Her growing physical closeness prompts him to wonder whether she is falling for him; no formal romance is established in the supplied passages 4 12 13 28 30.
  • Huo Yuhao — A younger Soul Master whose future Mu Sheng deliberately redirects toward Qian Renxue’s Heavenly Saint Sect. He offers cultivation guidance and promises an alternative Ultimate Ice Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast for Huo Yuhao’s second Martial Soul 13 14 22 25.
  • Tian Meng / Sky Dream Ice Silkworm — A pressured collaborator and frequent target of Mu Sheng’s revelations. Mu Sheng takes half his origin but leaves him able to complete his bond with Huo Yuhao 10 11 25.
  • Electrolux — His remnant soul chooses Shendu, and Mu Sheng shelters it in a nourishing Talisman space 11.
  • Xuan Zi — Assistant assigned by Mu En after Mu Sheng prevents the expedition tragedy. He follows Mu Sheng’s instructions and supplies the force needed to pressure Tian Meng 9 10.
  • Mu En — Assigns Xuan Zi to assist Mu Sheng. The Mu En watching from another world recognizes him as an alternate-spacetime Bei Bei 7 10.
  • Bei Bei — His counterpart in the world watching the broadcast, not a separate identity he adopts during the displayed events. Bei Bei eventually resolves to learn from Mu Sheng’s treatment of Tang Ya 3 7 18.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Sky Screen and Qian Renxue’s Arrival

  • The Sky Screen announces a livestream of Shendu “Mu Sheng” becoming a god. This is the broadcast’s premise, not an ascension shown in the supplied chapters 1.
  • Qian Renxue encounters him and Tang Ya in the Star Dou Great Forest. He recognizes her despite her false name and disguised Martial Soul 3 4.
  • He reveals Spirit Hall’s destruction and the future defeats of Qian Renxue and Bibi Dong, then criticizes the decisions that contributed to those outcomes 5 6.

Tian Meng’s Sacrifice

  • Mu Sheng rushes to Huo Yuhao’s location to seize enough sacrificial essence to awaken Shendu’s first Talisman 7 8.
  • With Xuan Zi’s support, he obtains Tian Meng’s essence, awakens the Sheep Talisman, and takes in Electrolux 10 11.
  • He directs Huo Yuhao into Qian Renxue’s newly founded Heavenly Saint Sect as part of an experiment concerning the altered future and the Divine Realm’s silence 12 13 14.

Soul Spirit Experiments

  • Creates Little Vine from the Shadow Vine Snake, helping Tang Ya reach Rank 44 and obtain two new Soul Skills 17 18.
  • Guides Qian Renxue to Light Valley and assists the Heavenly Dragon Horse’s sacrifice. She reaches Rank 63 while his dragon attains Ultimate Light 26 27 28.
  • Bi Ji arrives demanding the Heavenly Dragon Horse’s release. Later viewers credit Mu Sheng with subduing a 580,000-year-old Ferocious Beast, though the supplied passages do not show that confrontation’s resolution 28 30.

Return to Shrek

  • Brings Qian Renxue to Shrek City and explains the Sun Moon Empire, Soul Guidance Technology, and the division of Heaven Dou 30 31.
  • Searches for expected students, including Wang Dong, but finds no familiar faces in the crowd, reinforcing his suspicion that the world has diverged from the original story 30 31.
