"Join forces against the East Sea Human Race? If the Wu Clan truly wanted an alliance, they would have sent Jiu Feng, not an unknown nobody like you."
Chi You did not take offense. He swung down from the Iron-Eating Beast and dumped a pile of weapons inside the command tent with a clatter.
"Since Chief Xuanyuan doesn't know who I am, let me introduce myself again. I'm Chi You, chief of the Nine Jiu Li Tribes."
Xuanyuan frowned. This was no good news for the Human Race.
"You united the Nine Jiu Li Tribes of the Wu Clan?"
Chi You did not answer. Instead, he pointed to the weapons on the ground. "Consider these a gift for our first meeting, Chief Xuanyuan, and a token of my sincerity."
Xuanyuan bent down and drew a longsword from the weapons Chi You had brought.
It felt cool in his hand, unlike the bronze swords used by the humans of the Ancestral Land.
The blade was pitch-black, and every sword gleamed with a chilling edge. Merely holding one made his skin sting. It was clearly several grades above a bronze sword.
"Well, Chief Xuanyuan? Have you made up your mind?"
Xuanyuan fell into thought.
He had to admit that Chi You's proposed alliance was tempting, especially with so many weapons laid out before him.
If all he had to go on were Guang Chengzi and the others' earlier teachings, he might well have agreed.
But after what had happened with them, Xuanyuan knew it could not be that simple. Chi You had to have an agenda of his own.
What that agenda was, though, Xuanyuan had yet to work out.
He looked up and found Chi You smiling at him.
Chi You's expression was warm, but his words carried a naked temptation.
