Origins
Nu Wa first shapes Liu Mang while following her inspiration to prove the Dao, though his appearance initially brings neither a Heavenly Dao decree nor Merit 1. Liu Mang and Xuan Du are later identified as the first two humans, both possessing the Innate Dao Body 5.
During her formal Proving Dao, Nu Wa uses Breathing Soil, Three Lights Divine Water, and the Law of Creation to bring clay figures to life. She subsequently discovers that a gourd vine can create tens of thousands of humans with much less expenditure of her Primordial Spirit 21 22.
Upon the Human Race’s establishment, all humans acknowledge Nu Wa as their Holy Mother. Eighty percent of the creation Merit goes to Nu Wa, ten percent to the Human Race, and the remainder to the witnesses and objects involved in her Dao-proving 25.

Composition
Innate Human Race
The Innate Human Race consists of humans directly created by Nu Wa through the Law of Creation. They are born with innate immortal bodies and are naturally close to the Great Dao; they can potentially reach Grand Unity Golden Immortal or greater heights 394.
- The first 3,000 humans personally molded by Nu Wa possess the highest physique and aptitude among their race 25.
- Liu Mang and Xuan Du are among the earliest Innate Humans and possess Innate Dao Bodies 5.
- Their innate energy is diminished after producing Postnatal descendants, limiting their later potential 394.
Postnatal Human Race
The Postnatal Human Race is born through natural reproduction after Nu Wa establishes marriage.
- Nu Wa establishes marriage with the Red Embroidered Ball and red thread as its witness, resolving the Human Race’s reproduction problem 54.
- Postnatal humans lose their residual innate energy at birth unless guided by a cultivation method; ordinary food and their diminished foundation make advancement to Heavenly Immortal exceptionally difficult 394.
- Despite their weaker starting point, their population grows rapidly and eventually surpasses the population of the Shouyang Mountain Ancestral Land in the East Sea region 425.
Settlements and Protection
After Nu Wa becomes a Saint and is barred from directly entering Hong Huang, she divides the Human Race to preserve its bloodline. Branches are entrusted to the Witch Tribe, Dragon Race, Phoenix Race, and Yao Race, while another group remains in the Ancestral Land 40 41.
| Community | Circumstances |
|---|---|
| Shouyang Mountain Ancestral Land | A large group chooses to remain at the Human Race’s birthplace despite having no external protection. It becomes the central ancestral settlement and later receives returning survivors from other branches 42 394. |
| Witch Tribe branch | Initially sheltered under Hou Tu’s care; later expelled alongside other protected branches when the four protector races withdraw their support 40 54 385. |
| East Sea branch | The Dragon Race agrees to accept approximately 20,000 humans under the condition that they care for them properly. The community later becomes Shen Nong’s base of power 88 425. |
| Phoenix Race branch | Entrusted to Qing Luan and sent toward the Phoenix Race’s ancestral land 41 158. |
| Yao Race branch | Accepted by the Heavenly Court as part of Nu Wa’s arrangement, though this protection later ends alongside that of the other major races 61 385. |
| Western branch | Some Postnatal humans are permitted to go west under a contract requiring Jieyin and Zhunti to teach them as disciples and allow them to leave if mistreated 145. |
Civilization and Development
| Development | Contribution | Chapter |
|---|---|---|
| Marriage | Nu Wa establishes lifelong partnerships through marriage and the red thread. | 54 |
| Clothing | Yi learns tailoring and begins teaching others; Zi Yi Shi later receives the Weaving Clothes Saint Ancestor Dao Fruit. | 58 412 |
| Hunting and cooking | Liu Mang teaches humans to hunt Fierce Beasts, improve their survival methods, and cook meat over fire. | 146 |
| Settled dwellings | Liu Mang urges the tribe to construct its own homes rather than live in Fierce Beast caves; You Chao Shi later receives the Wood Virtue True Emperor Dao Fruit for establishing dwellings. | 146 412 |
| Fire and civilization | Sui Ren Shi’s Sui Fire becomes a symbol of the Human Race’s civilizational inheritance. | 412 |
| Governance | Fu Xi becomes Human Race leader and Heavenly Emperor, delegates administration, expands territory, and promotes prosperity. | 413 |

Human Dao and Destiny
Hong Jun identifies the Human Dao as inseparable from the Human Race, immediately drawing the attention of Hong Huang’s major powers 31. The race’s unusual capacity to generate Merit, improve its leaders’ cultivation, and feed Human Dao laws back to Nu Wa distinguishes it from ordinary races 119 383.
The Kongtong Seal is the authority of the Human Dao. It manifests from Xuan Du when he reaches Quasi-Saint, prompting Yuanshi, Tongtian, Di Jun, and Hou Tu to demand control over it. Nu Wa and Zhunti refuse to yield the seal, regarding its possession as essential to Human Race interests 406.
Qian Kun declares that the Human Race is fated to become the next protagonist of heaven and earth after the Witch-Demon era. However, it must first endure tribulations and compete against the Witch and Yao races; the Human Era also requires an unknown “key” to begin 380.
- Great sages are foretold to arise among humans, with strength rivaling Saints 380.
- Hong Yun reincarnates into the Human Path to seek another route to Dao-proving and is later born among the Human Race 321 394.
- The Human Race’s prosperity and authority make its leaders, Merit treasures, and potential great sages targets for multiple sects and races 382 386 399.
Major Conflicts
Survival against Fierce Beasts
The early Human Race lacks cultivation and is vulnerable to extinction in Hong Huang. Even Innate Humans have little ability to defend themselves at first, forcing the race to depend on protective alliances and self-reliance 40 144.
When those protections collapse, migrating communities suffer severe casualties. Of two million humans expelled from the Witch Tribe’s territory, fewer than one hundred thousand return to the Ancestral Land 394. The East Sea branch is also attacked by a Heavenly Immortal Taotie during its migration, with Cang and other leaders risking their lives to buy time for civilians to escape 392.
North Sea Giant Demon Abductions
Hong Jun’s scheme calls for the Human Race’s essence blood and souls to be used in refining the Witch Slaying Sword and Demon Slaying Sword 286. North Sea Giant Demons abduct humans across the Heavenly Court, Shouyang Mountain, and East Sea regions, holding some captives alive while killing or consuming others 287 293.
Conflict with the Heavenly Origin Sect
Guang Chengzi and other Heavenly Origin Sect disciples attempt to force Sui Ren Shi, You Chao Shi, and Zi Yi Shi into discipleship in order to seize their Merit Spiritual Treasures. They openly demean the Human Race as inferior and claim humans were originally created as food for the Yao Race 386.
The Three Ancestors refuse, while Xuan Du intervenes to stop the battle. Later, the Human Race’s surviving leaders pursue and punish cultivators who attacked returning human communities, establishing that the race will not accept slaughter or exploitation without retaliation 386 395.
Contest for the Protagonist’s Position
Under Fu Xi, the Human Race repels simultaneous Witch and Demon attacks and expands its territory 413. Shen Nong later leads Human armies to reclaim land occupied by the Witch-Demon tribes and move toward unifying the scattered Human Race 425 426.
Relationships
- Nu Wa — Creator and Holy Mother of the Human Race. She arranges its early protection, establishes marriage, blesses its people, and defends the Kongtong Seal from outside control 25 41 54 406.
- Liu Mang — Second Ancestor who teaches survival, settlement, cooking, cultivation, and political self-reliance; he repeatedly acts to protect Human Race interests 86 146 384.
- Xuan Du — Referred to as the First Ancestor by later humans. He becomes the first Human Immortal and manifests the Kongtong Seal after reaching Quasi-Saint 119 144 406.
- Sui Ren Shi, You Chao Shi, and Zi Yi Shi — The Three Ancestors who preserve fire, clothing, and dwellings; they protect and recover scattered human communities 394 412.
- Fu Xi — Nu Wa’s brother who secures protector-race arrangements, later reincarnates as a human, becomes Heavenly Emperor, and leads the Human Race to prosperity 73 413 416.
- Shen Nong — Earth Emperor who develops medicine and agriculture, becomes a Human Race Saint, and begins the race’s political unification 417 425.
- Dragon, Phoenix, Witch, and Yao races — Early protectors whose alliances preserve several Human Race branches, though all later withdraw their protection 41 385.
- Heavenly Origin Sect — Both a source of aid and exploitation: some disciples rescue and teach humans, while others seek their Merit, destiny, and treasures 392 395 396.
