The knight's slender sword shattered into several pieces in the black-clad man's hand. Some fragments even flew back under Sun Fei's terrifying force and embedded themselves in the man's own body, sending blood spraying.
"Retreat."
The black-clad man was scared out of his wits.
He couldn't withstand a single blow from the "metal freak." Their brief exchange had also made him realize that the man before him was even more terrifying with an axe than he was strong. Under those circumstances, he had no chance of winning.
Whoosh!
The black-clad man flung out a strangely shaped grappling hook, caught it on a battlement, and leaped straight down, trying to leave the battlefield and escape Sun Fei's pursuit.
But-
"Since you're here, don't go. You'd better stay!"
Sun Fei had no intention of giving him a chance to escape. With a cold laugh, he kicked a two-handed broadsword lying at his feet.
Clang-!
The sword shot off like lightning, streaking through the air.
The broadsword tore through the air and pierced the black-clad man through the back while he was still airborne, pinning him firmly to the hard ground below the wall.
Between the fall and the impalement, the black-clad man died on the spot without even having time to kick his legs.
"Pah, you son of a bitch. You took advantage of me and tried to run? Who the fuck do you think you are, a chengguan officer...?" Seeing that the man was dead, Sun Fei spat disdainfully, then turned and charged back into the enemy ranks.
Just then-
Moo, moo-!!!
Several strange blasts of a horn suddenly came from the distant black camp outside the city, echoing over the entire battlefield.
Below the wall, the black-clad attackers withdrew like a receding tide.
"The enemy's retreating!"
Seeing this, some of Chambord City's soldiers couldn't help cheering at the top of their lungs.
In stark contrast to the cheering defenders, the remaining black-armored soldiers on the wall realized that their army had withdrawn and abandoned them, leaving them without reinforcements. Their faces fell as though their parents had died. After resisting for a while, they dropped to their knees, raised their weapons high above their heads, and begged to surrender.
Chambord City's soldiers quickly took control of the battlefield.
Only at a spot more than two hundred meters from the gate tower did the fighting continue-
Frank Lampard, captain of the king's guards and a Three-Star-Rank Warrior, was locked in a desperate fight with an enemy swordsman named Langde. Battle energy erupted from both men, their auras surging, one red and one blue. Wherever they passed, mountains crumbled and rocks shattered. It was quite a sight.
Within ten meters of the center of their clash, fierce gusts of energy pressed in like steel blades, cutting through everything in their path.
No one dared approach.
Sun Fei cut down several resisting black-armored soldiers along the way and advanced quickly. A few seconds later, he crept up to the fight, narrowing his eyes as he gauged the distance. He wanted to help Lampard by catching the enemy swordsman off guard and killing him with an axe.
During the fighting earlier, nothing had been able to stand against Sun Fei's axe, and his confidence had soared.
But-
Sun Fei soon discovered that this fight was beyond what he had expected.
He had only just reached the place where the two were fighting and had yet to get too close when he felt an immense pressure rushing toward him. The red and blue battle energy flying in every direction was razor-sharp, leaving shocking gouges in the stone wall and giving Sun Fei a sense of extreme danger.
I'm no match for them!
The practical experience Sun Fei had accumulated in bloody slaughter against endless monsters in the Diablo world allowed his brain to make an instant assessment like a computer: whether it was Lampard or the enemy swordsman, both were at least twice as strong as he was. He was definitely no match for either of them!
As Sun Fei pondered, a shout rang out from the fight-
"Hahaha, my master has ordered a withdrawal. I'll let you pathetic maggots catch your breath today, but when the city falls, we'll wash it in blood and leave no one alive!"
With that, the red battle energy around the swordsman surged.
He looked as though he were burning in raging flames, his aura swelling as he forced Lampard back with a sword strike. He then swung back several times, cold light flashing and battle energy raging, cutting the Chambord City soldiers closest to the fight in half. Amid their screams, he burst out laughing and leaped straight into the air toward the outside of the city, arrogant to the extreme.
Sun Fei couldn't stand by and watch.
"You son of a bitch, you killed my men, and now you're showing off even more than I do? You're even fucking stealing my spotlight? Fall to your death, you son of a bitch!!"
He used the same trick again, kicking out with his foot.
Whoosh-!
An iron-tipped spear shot through the sky like a bolt from a giant siege crossbow, whistling shrilly as it flew toward the swordsman like lightning.
"You're courting death!"
In midair, the swordsman Langde was furious to discover that, besides the Three-Star-Rank Warrior Lampard in the enemy ranks, a maggot as insignificant as an ant actually dared attack him.
With an angry shout, he twisted impossibly in midair and planted a foot on the incoming spear. Then, like a giant eagle spreading its wings, he flew back through the air.
"Die! Explosive Flame Slash-!"
A streak of red battle energy, like bursting magma and carrying the scorching breath of death, shot straight at Sun Fei.
"Watch out-!"
Frank Lampard cried out a warning.
He wanted to help the metal monster who had suddenly appeared on their side block the blow. But as soon as the thought occurred to him and he circulated his battle energy, the intense fight he had just endured aggravated an internal injury left more than ten years ago. He coughed up a mouthful of blood and found himself unable to move.
Lampard's face changed drastically.
On the other side.
"Bring it on-!"
Faced with an attack from an enemy more than twice as strong as himself, Sun Fei instead felt his competitive spirit stir. The pride of a barbarian was silently influencing his character, making him unwilling to retreat in the slightest. Laughing heartily, Sun Fei advanced instead of retreating. The giant black axe in his hands became a mass of howling dark light, carrying terrifying force as it met the red battle energy head-on!
Boom!
An immense explosion rang out, and flames scattered in every direction.
Sun Fei staggered back dozens of steps before he finally stopped.
Pfft...
He spat out a mouthful of blood, staining the visor of his heavy knight's armor crimson. Sun Fei's body swayed slightly.
The soldiers around him cried out in alarm.
That single exchange had made the difference in strength clear.
The metal warrior on their side, who had been unstoppable until now, had actually... lost!
Although they didn't know what face lay beneath the knight's visor, his fighting had already won the soldiers' complete respect. Brook, the giant black-haired man, and several brave soldiers of the king's guard saw that things were going badly and rushed forward, ready to defend with their lives the unfamiliar hero who had almost single-handedly turned the battle around!
On the other side.
The three-star warrior Langde knew that he hadn't gained much of an advantage from the clash either. His opponent's terrifying, dragonlike strength had erupted on impact, leaving him feeling waves of tightness in his chest and weakness throughout his body. Unable to brace himself in midair, he was sent flying outward by the shock.
But-
"Die!"
Langde refused to give up. He flicked his right hand, sending a strangely shaped grappling hook onto a battlement, then pulled hard. Like a great bird, he flew back through the air and landed on the wall, his battle energy surging once more.
Brook and the soldiers trying to help couldn't get anywhere near him under such pressure.
The longsword in Langde's hand burst into a blazing red aura once again, battle energy burning as he thrust it straight at Sun Fei!
He was determined to teach this fool, who didn't know the difference between life and death and dared challenge the dignity of a Three-Star-Rank Warrior, a fatal lesson.
Everyone around them turned pale with shock.
They all thought Sun Fei could not escape death from this blow.
However-
"Hahaha, bastard, is that all you've got?"
Sun Fei merely turned slightly to the side. He didn't dodge; as though scared witless, he let Langde's sword pierce his shoulder. Then he suddenly burst into wild laughter, and amid that arrogant laughter, he let out another furious roar.
Roar-!
The barbarian's shout skill-[Howl].
That mysterious and uncanny power appeared again with the roar.
Langde froze.
In the next instant, he felt boundless fear suddenly well up in his heart. The feeling, one he had scarcely ever experienced before, made the battle energy circulating in his body falter slightly.
Through the visor of his opponent's knight helmet, Langde saw a pair of mad eyes.
Their gaze was as sharp as a blade.
"Fuckwit, die!"
Sun Fei seized the chance to throw a punch, concentrating all the strength in his body into the blow.
His mind briefly disrupted by [Howl], Langde failed to dodge in time and took the punch squarely in the chest. The tremendous force gave him no time to react again. Blood sprayed from his mouth as he flew straight backward...
Boom!
Langde's body smashed through a battlement, and he fell off the wall.
His slender knight's sword was still lodged in Sun Fei's shoulder, trembling; it had not been pulled free.
After taking that fatal blow, Langde was badly injured even though he was a Three-Star-Rank Warrior protected by battle energy. Still in midair, he coughed up mouthfuls of blood, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief. Only when he was about to hit the ground did he struggle to throw out his grappling hook, embedding it in the wall to break his fall before landing awkwardly!
His injuries and the height posed a threat, but they were not enough to kill him.
Below the wall, Langde cast a complicated look up at the city. After hesitating and struggling with himself several times, he finally turned and left.
At that moment earlier, he had clearly felt death calling to him. The man in full armor was indeed weaker than he was, but that madness and fighting spirit had utterly robbed him of the courage to go back and face him a second time.
On the wall.
The soldiers' gazes had all changed as they looked at Sun Fei, standing firmly with the slender sword embedded in his shoulder.
Admiration, disbelief, frenzy, burning passion, worship...
Their fervent gazes were like those directed at a god descended into the mortal world.
Even the three-star warrior Frank Lampard, who had finally suppressed the internal injury in his body, looked at Sun Fei with solemnity and admiration.
He alone had clearly seen the heart-stopping sequence of exchanges that had happened in a flash, so Lampard understood exactly what kind of warrior the fully armored man before him was!
And at this moment, almost everyone wanted to know-
Who was he?

Sorry, there are only two updates today. It's Saturday, and I have to accompany my wife, who is still in the honeymoon period, to a medical checkup.
